Abstract

Mangrove ecosystem is a region that acts as a transition between land and sea. This ecosystem has ecological, socio-economic and physical functions. The decline in the quality and quantity of mangrove forests has resulted in very alarming impacts, such as increased abrasion, reduced fishing catches, seawater intrusion, and others. This study aims to analyze the biodiversity of mangrove ecosystem in the Randutatah coal. The results showed that mangrove ecosystems were dominated by Rhizophora stylosa species with the highest INP values in tillers and tree categories. Observations of fauna in the area found 2 types of mammals, 34 species of birds, 7 species of herpetofauna, and 9 species of insects. the wealth of bird species in this region is high. Phytoplankton composition is dominated by Bacillariophyceae class, zooplankton is dominated by crustacean class, and nekton is dominated by Mugilidae class. Mangrove conditions in Randutatah can increase biodiversity in these locations, as well as the condition of the waters around the mangrove ecosystem that become fertile so that it can be used by the community to catch fish or crabs that have an impact on the growth of the economic value of the community.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kendala dan peluang untuk pengelolaan Wisata Konservasi Orangutan Bukit Lawang (WKOB) dan merumuskan strategi kebijakan alternatif dalam mengatasi kendala dalam mengelola WKOB. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan sistem dengan melibatkan ahli pariwisata konservasi orangutan, ahli kehutanan, praktisi pariwisata, manajer WKOB dan orang-orang kunci yang berpengaruh terkait dengan tema penelitian. Analisis data didasarkan pada identifikasi para ahli menggunakan metode analisis Interpretative Structural Modelling (ISM) untuk analisis kendala dalam pengelolaan dan merumuskan kelembagaan dan Analitical Hierarchy Process (AHP) untuk menyusun strategi pengelolaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai ekonomi kawasan konservasi Orangutan di Bukit Lawang adalah sebesar Rp. 1,721,082,350 yang menggambarkan nilai manfaat langsung, tidak langsung dan efek pengganda. Hasil analisis biaya manfaat menghasilkan NPV positif setelah tahun ke 10 NPV sebesar Rp. 1,880,508,946.76 dan IRR yang diperoleh sebesar 20.2% lebih tinggi dari suku bunga bank saat ini serta BCR sebesar 1.84 (di atas 1) sehingga investasi pada WKOB secara finansial dikatakan layak untuk, diterapkan. Kendala utama dalam pengelolaan WKOB adalah (a) Belum terintegrasinya retribusi dan tarif masuk, (b) Buruknya infrastruktur menuju WKOB, (c) Kurangnya sarana dan prasarana serta fasilitas dan (d) Banyaknya pintu masuk. Alternatif strategi kebijakan dalam mengatasi kendala pengelolaan WKOB adalah Pengelolaan wisata terintegrasi dan profesional dengan bobot sebesar 0.419 (41.9%) artinya alternatif utama yang dilakukan untuk mengelola WKOB adalah dengan cara pengelolaan wisata yang terintegrasi dan dijalankan secara profesional. Alternatif selanjutnya adalah melakukan pembinaan dan pemberdayaan masyarakat/wisatawan dengan bobot sebesar 0.263 (26.3%), alternatif yang ketiga adalah penyediaan infrastruktur, sarpras dan fasilitas dengan bobot sebesar 0.160 (16%), sedangkan alternatif keempat dan kelima adalah promosi wisata dan penyebaran informasi (0.097) dan pengembangan atraksi dan produk (0.062).

Abstract

Abstract: Until 2018, “aanslibbing” or channelbar at two coastal villages of Ujung Pangkah reached 4644,98 hectares with an average of 8-12 hectares per year increased. However, from satellite images, during the years of 2016-2018, this area declined by 115.87 hectares due to coastal abrasion.This research aims to analyze the landscape change and the occupation process of the channelbar until 2018 and identify the implication toward tenurial security and the sustainability of coastal environment of Ujung Pangkah, Gresik. The method used for the research were satellite image interpretation, groundcheck, and socio-juridical analysis related to social and juridical implication of the occupation of channelbar on two villages.  The research showed that the occupation of  channelbar in Ujung Pangkah implicated on two issues namely coastal landscape change including the loss of mangrove ecosystem due to pond extension and land conflict potential. In conclusion, the agrarian irregularity practice constitute an issue for the dynamic type of land existence like channelbar, therefore its tenurial security must be addressed as a priority issue for agrarian regulator in the region. Intisari: Hingga tahun 2018, “aanslibbing” atau “tanah timbul” di dua desa pesisir Ujung Pangkah mencapai 4644,98 hektar dengan rata-rata peningkatan luas lahan 8-12 hektar per tahun. Namun dari citra satelit pada periode 2016-2018 daerah ini mengalami penurunan luas hingga 115,87 hektar karena abrasi pantai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis proses perubahan lanskap dan penguasaan tanah timbul di Ujung Pangkah sampai tahun 2018 dan mengidentifikasi implikasinya terhadap keamanan tenurial dan keberlanjutan lingkungan pesisir di Ujung Pangkah, Gresik. Metode yang digunakan adalah interpretasi citra,groundcheck lahan dan analisis deskriptif sosiologis yuridis menyangkut implikasi-implikasi sosial dan hukum dari praktik penguasaan tanah timbul di dua desa tersebut. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa penggunaan “tanah timbul”di Ujung Pangkah berimplikasi pada dua hal, yaitu perubahan lanskap pantai termasuk hilangnya ekosistem mangrove untuk perluasan tambak, dan potensi konflik pertanahan maupun konsentrasi lahan.Sebagai kesimpulan,praktik iregularitas agraria merupakan satu masalah bagi jenis lahan yang eksistensinya dinamis seperti tanah timbul, maka kepastian tenurialnya harus mendapatkan prioritas perhatian oleh regulator pertanahan di daerah.

Abstract

Previous studies are most focusing on the species identification and habitat used by cuscus, while habitat changes are the most threats on cuscus. Habitat changes caused by the operation of logging concession such as PT Wijaya Sentosa creates an impact to the habitat selection of cuscus, which is highly dependent on forest cover. Efforts to protect cuscus species in production forests need to be carried out to ensure their sustainability habitat. This study aims to determine habitat preference of cuscus and model the suitability habitat of cuscus. The Neu index calculation is used to measure the level of habitat preference, while the habitat sustainability map is modelled by biotic, abiotic, and human disturbance components into MaxEnt application. Vegetation data is analyzed to describe tree density, tree richness, and strata using of cuscus by SexFI application. The study showed that the most preferred habitat by cuscus is LoA 2018 because LoA 2018 had the most species richness so cuscus might be able to choose their vegetation food. The habitat suitability of cuscus in PT Wijaya Sentosa covers 21,116.59 ha and didn't follow the pattern of increasing Et+ logging but was strongly influenced by logged blocks as much as 55.2% contribution.

Abstract

The expansion of the oil palm plantation establishment has been arousing someaccusation regarding the loss of biodiversity especially on bird diversity. Hence, this study was conducted to compare the bird diversity between oil palm plantation and its origin land cover. The study was conducted on May 2018 in 2 oil palm plantation in the West Sulawesi and its origin land cover around the plantation area. The observation was done twice a day, in the morning and afternoon, with 3 repetitions. The data was then analyzed using richness index, Evenness index and also index similarity to identify the similarities of bird species similarity between land covers. The result show that the highest number of bird species was found in theoil palm plantation of the company 1 which also happen for the evenness and richness indices. While, the similarity index showed the value about 0.42-0.46. Overall, the land cover changes also causing a change in the bird species composition.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji substansi peraturan yang digunakan dalam pemanfaatan mangrove sebagai bahan baku arang oleh masyarakat di Batu Ampar, Kalimantan Barat. Analisis terhadap peraturan yang terkait dengan pemanfaatan  mangrove sebagai bahan baku arang oleh masyarakat menggunakan pendekatan konsep rule in use Ostrom. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masing-masing aturan pada rule in form dan rule in use tidak bersesuaian satu sama lain (incompatibility). Hal ini disebabkan oleh pemerintah daerah sebagai pihak pelaksana dinilai belum mampu merealisasikan program Hutan Tanaman Rakyat (HTR), Hutan Desa (HD) atau Hutan Kemasyarakatan (HKm) pada kawasan hutan produksi yang telah disediakan serta rumitnya aturan dalam mengurus ijin pemanfaatan Hasil Hutan Kayu (HHK) bagi masyarakat

Abstract

Lutung Sentarum are endemic primates with distribution on the island of Borneo, namely from Melalap-Sarawak and recently found in the Danau Sentarum National Park area. Lutung Sentarum is classified as critically endangered and requires scientific data study for Lutung Sentarum so that the animal can be conserved according to their characteristics and needs. The purpose of this study was to record the response shown by Lutung Sentarum when they saw the presence of humans and other animals. The method used is a survey with ad-libitum and accidental sampling technique. When responding, Lutung Sentarum will show agonistic behavior towards humans, while towards other animals it will show affiliative and agonistic behavior depending on the animal species and their relationship in the same area. During the study, it was seen that Lutung Sentarum showed a response: freezing, hiding, observing, investigating, vocalizing, intimidating, and flightKeywords: Danau Sentarum, Lutung Sentarum, ResponsesAbstrakLutung Sentarum merupakan satwa primata endemik dengan penyebaran di Pulau Kalimantan yaitu dari Melalap-Serawak dan belum lama ini ditemukan di Kawasan Taman Nasional Danau Sentarum. Lutung Sentarum termasuk dalam status kategori critically endangered dan memerlukan data studi ilmiah mengenai Lutung Sentarum sehingga satwa tersebut dapat dikonservasi sesuai dengan karakteristik dan kebutuhannya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mencatat respon yang ditunjukkan oleh Lutung Sentarum saat melihat kehadiran manusia dan satwa lain. Metode yang digunakan yaitu survey dengan teknik ad-libitum dan accidental sampling. Saat merespon, Lutung Sentarum akan menunjukkan perilaku agonistik terhadap manusia, sedangkan terhadap satwa lain menunjukkan perilaku afiliatif dan agonistik tergantung spesies satwa dan hubungannya dalam satu wilayah yang sama. Selama penelitian, terlihat Lutung Sentarum menunjukkan respon: diam, bersembunyi, mengamati, mencari informasi, bersuara, intimidasi, dan kabur.Kata kunci: Danau Sentarum, Lutung Sentarum, Respon

Abstract

Lutung  Sentarum merupakan lutung yang pertama kali ditemukan di Indonesia khususnya hanya dapat ditemukan di Taman Nasional Danau Sentarum Kalimantan Barat (new record). Lutung Sentarum merupakan satwa herbivora yang menjadikan tumbuhan sebagai pakan utamanya. Identifikasi jenis pakan lutung sentrarum diperlukan agar diketahui jenis tanaman apa saja yang menjadi sumber pakan lutung sentarum. Penelitian dilakukan di Resort Semangit Taman Nasional Danau Sentarum Kalimantan Barat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi tumbuhan yang menjadi pakan dan bagian apa yang menjadi pakan lutung sentarum yang terdapat di kawasan Taman Nasional Danau Sentarum. Metode yang digunakan yaitu survey dengan mengumpulkan data dengan cara jelajah. Hasil penelitian dari identifikasi ditemukan 7 jenis tumbuhan pakan lutung sentarum, yaitu, Archidendron pauciflorum, Adenia macrophylla, Bellucia axinanthera, Combretocarpus rotundifolius, Hevea brasiliensis, Planchonella obovata dan Willughbeia coriacea. Bagian tumbuhan yang menjadi pakan lutung sentarum adalah biji dan daun. Bagian tumbuhan pakan yang paling disukai lutung sentarum adalah biji karet.

Abstract

Cuscus is a marsupial mammal endemic to the eastern part of Indonesia. Populations and their habitats are under pressure due to economic development, population growth and utilization of forest resources. So far, studies on cuscus ecology have mainly focused on protected habitats or conservation areas, this study aims to identify and analyze populations and predict the distribution of cuscus in non-protectes area which is PT Wijaya Sentosa. This research conduct in November 2020 until January 2021 in several land cover categories. The methods used in this study include literature and secondary data studies, field observations using strip-transect and camera trap techniques, interviews using purposive sampling techniques. This study found nine individuals of cuscus from direct observation with strip-transects and two individuals of cuscus from camera trapping. The ground cuscus population (P. gymnotis) had the highest abundance and density, while the common spotted cuscus (S. maculatus) population owned the lowest values. The population structure dominates by male sex and adult age class, and no female sex and young age class were found. Cuscus was more commonly found solitary in the line of observation and not found in every line. The shape of the distribution pattern of the cuscus population at PT Wijaya Sentosa is cluster/aggregated, determined from the value of the dispersion index and the ratio of variance to mean. The most common ground cuscus was found in the 2018 and the 2013 logging area (LOA).

Abstract

The interaction between Presbytis chrysomelas ssp. cruciger and Hylobates muelleri which occurs due to the utilization of the same resources has caused the two primates to cohabitate in the Majang Island Resort Area. Information regarding resource use by cohabiting species is very important for their conservation management. The aims of this research are to identify common niches between P. chrysomelas and Muller’s gibbon, to analyze the niche overlap and niche breadth; to find out the forms of spatial cohabitation and the factors that cause cohabitation. Data collection was carried out from July to December 2021. Cohabitation was identified in the use of vertical and horizontal space which is closely related to the availability of feed for both primates. There is overlapping home ranges between the P. chrysomelas and Muller’s gibbon at the study site covering an area of 9.93 ha, and only B stratum (trees with a height of 18 – 30 m) which are used jointly for activity by both primates. The Jaccard index for the association of vertical space use for P. chrysomelas and Muller’s gibbon is 0.33 while the Jaccard index for the number of forage plant species is 0.50. P. chrysomelas ecological niche overlaps 116% with Muller’s gibbon and the H.muelleri ecological niche overlaps 65% with P. chrysomelas’s. Calculation of the ecological niche area of P. chrysomelas is FT = 0.65335, the lower limit and upper limit value is 0.27033 ≤ FT ≥ 0.91288. Meanwhile, for the Muller’s gibbon, the value is FT = 0.46454, the lower and upper limits are 0.04483 ≤ FT ≥ 0.79644. Key words: Cohabitation, Danau Sentarum, Tricolour langur, Muller’s gibbon
