Abstract

High energy costs and the challenge of managing used cooking oil waste are major obstacles for the Rengginang Hj UAS Home Industry in Ciamis, resulting in low profit margins and sub-optimal product quality. Therefore, this activity aims to transform the partner IRT into an efficient, competitive, and environmentally sustainable Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME). The method employed was the multidisciplinary STEAM-H approach through intensive training, implementation of Appropriate Technology in the form of a Used Cooking Oil Stove and a De-oiling Machine, as well as the application of a Zero-Waste system (conversion of rice washing wastewater into Liquid Organic Fertilizer/POC). Evaluation results showed significant success, with partner competency increasing to a Normalized Gain (N-Gain) value of 0.72 (High Category) and achieving 100% mastery of practical skills. Economically, the program exceeded targets by reducing fuel costs by up to 65% and increasing oil separation efficiency by 100%. The technology adoption rate fell into the Very High Category (score: 4.64). However, the Zero-Waste aspect (raw material independence) was only 20% achieved and requires further assistance. In conclusion, the program was effective in substantially transforming the partner's operational efficiency and product quality.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The Bojongsari Fish Processing and Marketing Group (Poklahsar) in Kampung Nila encountered primary challenges in managing the inventory of perishable fishery products and in financial management, which still relied on manual record-keeping. Manual systems were at risk of data loss, inaccurate calculations, and a lack of transparency, which negatively impacted the group’s accountability and business sustainability. The community service activity aimed to strengthen business governance and ensure the group’s business sustainability through inventory management, sales, and simple financial record-keeping; practical skills in basic financial reporting; and operating an integrated digital cash register. The outreach methods used in the activity included presentations on inventory and financial management; practical demonstrations of digital cash register applications; interactive discussions on operational procedures and coordination of price and stock changes; and an assessment of interest in transitioning from manual to digital record-keeping. The implementation of integrated digital cash registers enabled partners to acquire technical skills in inventory management, transaction record-keeping, and the preparation of simplified financial reports. Service delivery improved and the group's financial transparency became easily accessible. The implementation of digital cash registers fostered a collective awareness of the importance of financial and inventory management for the sustainability of community-based businesses. Partners adopted digital cash registers for daily sales activities in Kampung Nila as well as for product exhibitions outside of Kampung Nila. As a result, digital cash registers were accessible to all product sales channels in Kampung Nila Keywords: Kampung Nila, Inventory Management, Digital Cash Registers, Community Empowerment, Simple Financial Reporting

Abstract

ABSTRACT The fishing industry plays an important role in national food security and community economic improvement. Ciamis Regency, through Kampung Nila in Kawali District, has been designated as a center for tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) farming. This commodity was chosen because of its rapid growth, affordable price, and stable market demand. However, farmers face high production costs due to their dependence on commercial feed, which reduces their profits. This community service program aims to increase farmers' independence through innovation in self-sufficient feed based on local  materials. The method used is Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) with stages of socialization, training,   Keywords: Nila Village, Management, Feed Milling Machines, Empowerment, Appropriate Technology.
