Abstract

This study evaluates the technical and economic characteristics of cement boards made from sawdust and coconut husk fiber waste using MgCl? as a catalyst. The cement boards were produced using the cold-pressing method with dimensions of 35 cm × 35 cm × 1 cm. The composition of the cement board consists of 25% sawdust, 15% coconut husk fiber, and 60% cement, along with a MgCl? catalyst amounting to 2.5% of the cement weight. Technical testing adheres to SNI 03-2105-2006, and the economic analysis employs the full costing method to calculate the cost of goods sold and the break-even point. Test results indicate that the physical parameters of the cement board—namely density, moisture content, and total expansion—meet the reference limits specified in SNI 03-2105-2006. Mechanically, the modulus of elasticity meets the reference limits in SNI 03-2105-2006, while the modulus of rupture falls below the minimum reference limit. The economic analysis in this study indicates a production cost of Rp10,749.41 per unit and an estimated selling price of Rp14,000.00, with the break-even point reached at sales of 74 units per year. Cement boards made from sawdust and coconut fiber waste have dimensional stability and stiffness that meet standards, but improvements in mechanical strength and interparticle bonding still require optimization in the production process.

Abstract

Kelayakan usaha dilihat berdasarkan nilai BEP. Nilai BEP untuk sirup jagung yaitu 2.268 botol atau Rp. 22.680.000.

Abstract

The development of Batu Busuk into an agro-tourism area is the existence of people's durian plantations which are cultivated in a sub-system. Durian is known as one of Indonesia's tropical exotic fruit plants with a delicacy of taste and a certain aroma that is nicknamed the king fruit. The high potency of durian should expose Batu Busuk as a durian village that sells fresh durian fruit and diversified durian processed products such as durian ice cream, durian dodol, durian pancakes, and frozen durian to support tourism development. A SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) needs to be carried out to assess the potency of the development of durian processed products in supporting Batu Busuk village as a tourist destination. This community service activity took place in Batu Busuk village, Lambung Bukit sub-district, Pauh sub-district, Padang Municipality. Partners in this activity are PKK Kampung Batu Busuk. The purpose of this activity is to develop Kampung Batu Busuk into a tourist area which is supported by the development of processed durian products as a tourism attraction. Based on a SWOT analysis qualitatively of the potency of durian processed products development, it can be concluded that durian processed products have a great prospect of supporting the development of Batu Busuk Village as a tourist destination. The strategy offered is to apply the strategy of product development, product market development, improvement of tourism management, and development of managers, especially PKK community in Batu Busuk village. One way to achieve this strategy is by collaborating with the people of Kampung Batu Busuk and Andalas University in the development of processed durian products as a supporter of tourist attractions.

Abstract

This outreach activity aims to enhance the capacity and economic self-reliance of women’s groups through vegetable-based product diversification innovations in Nagari Aia Tajun, Lubuk Alung Subdistrict, Padang Pariaman Regency. The method employed was a participatory approach involving the administration of a pre-test questionnaire, educational sessions, hands-on training, and an evaluation using a post-test. The innovative product developed is a vegetable-based healthy beverage in the form of water spinach smoothies as a way to utilize local potential. The results of the activity show a significant improvement in the participants’ knowledge, skills, and entrepreneurial attitudes, with the average score increasing from 2.1 to 4.26 and an N-Gain value of 0.74 (high category). Additionally, this activity successfully boosted participants’ interest and self-confidence in developing businesses based on processed vegetable products. Thus, this program not only contributes to increasing the value-added of agricultural commodities but also supports the strengthening of community economies and local food security through women’s empowerment.

Abstract

The utilization of sawdust waste in the early stages of mushroom cultivation represents an effort to support environmental conservation. However, challenges arise when the growing media becomes non-productive and remains underutilized. Accumulated baglog waste may serve as a reservoir for spore development, with the potential for airborne dispersion or transfer via workers’ clothing. Such conditions can trigger contamination within inoculation rooms, degrade media quality, and ultimately lead to cultivation failure. In addition, improper disposal practices, such as open dumping or burning, may contribute to environmental pollution and reduced sustainability of mushroom farming systems. Bioconversion technology offers a viable solution by transforming baglog waste into value-added products, including compost. Program components consisted of instructional delivery through an extension session on baglog waste bioconversion and hands-on practice in composting procedures. Practical implementation was supervised by the facilitation team to ensure participants’ comprehension and skill acquisition in processing non-productive baglog waste. The participatory approach enabled active engagement of participants throughout the program. Program implementation demonstrated an improvement in participants’ knowledge and technical competencies, particularly among members of the Limau Manis Sejahtera Women Farmers Group, in converting oyster mushroom baglog waste into compost. Participants successfully understood the composting stages and were able to independently apply the procedures. Baglog waste that was previously discarded or burned was effectively converted into compost, generating added value while simultaneously supporting environmentally sustainable agricultural practices.
