Abstract

ABSTRACT---Diazepam, formalin and drink which contain alcohol are substances that can be a toxic if they are accumulated  in a body. Drink  that contains alcohol can make someone drunk. Diazepam  is a medicine that calms and  its  function  is  to decrease neuron activity. While  formalin which  is  to used as  food preservation causes metabolism disorder. This aim of this research was to investigate and analyze the physiological aspect of M musculus body after it was treated with diazepam, formalin and drink alcoholic. The research used completely Randomize Design. The animal  that was  in experiment were 16 male M musculus and divided  into 4  treatments and 4 replications. The treatments were P0 (Control), P1 (0.04 mg Diazepam), P2 (100 ppm Formalin), P3 (Drink which contains 4,8% alcohol ). Food and drinking water were ad libitum. The treatments were given daily for 30 days. The data were analyzed with anova. The result  indicated that were not significant for all parameters. So, it was concluded  that 0.04 mg diazepam, 100 ppm  formalin and drink which contains 4,8% alcohol didn’t change the metabolism of M musculus body.  Key words: diazepam, formalin and drink alcoholic

Abstract

Daun lakum (Cayratia trifolia) dan buah kersen (Muntingia calabura) mengandung senyawa flavonoid, terpenoid, steroid dan kaya akan antioksidan. Beberapa senyawa antioksidan seperti squalene, nimbidin dan saponin berpotensi meningkatkan metabolisme HDL dalam tubuh sehingga dapat mengurangi timbunan lemak tubuh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan bobot badan dan bobot lemak abdominal tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) strain wistar jantan hiperlipidemia setelah pemberian jus buah kersen dan ekstrak etanol daun lakum. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang teridiri atas 5 perlakuan dengan 4 kali ulangan, yaitu kelompok kontrol, kelompok pakan hiperlipid positif, kelompok pemberian pakan jus kersen, kelompok pemberian pakan ekstrak lakum dan kelompok pemberian simvastatin. Pakan hiperlipid diberikan selama enam minggu, dimulai dari tikus umur tiga bulan. Pengukuran variable bobot badan diukur tiap minggu dan bobot lemak abdominal di akhir penelitian. Data dianalisis dengan Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) yang dilanjutkan dengan Uji Duncan pada taraf kepercayaan 95%. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pemberian tambahan jus buah kersen dan ekstrak etanol daun lakum memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan pada bobot badan dan bobot lemak abdominal (p<0,05) Penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan  bahwa pemberian jus buah kersen dan ekstrak etanol daun lakum pada tikus putih jantan hiperlipidemia tidak berpotensi menurunkan bobot badan, namun berpotensi menurunkan bobot lemak abdominal. Kata kunci : Cayratia trifolia, Muntingia calabura, antioksidan, bobot badan, bobot lemak abdominal

Abstract

Consumption of liquor such as Ciu in excessive doses can cause a decrease in hematological status. Balimo stem is an alternative treatment to improve hematological status due to excessive alcohol consumption because it contains alkaloids, flavonoids, and other secondary metabolic compounds, that have functions as antioxidant effects. This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of Balimo immersion water on the hematological status of mice with the observed variables, namely the erythrocytes count, hemoglobin levels, hematocrit value, and total count of leukocytes in rats that had been given Ciu. The study used 20 Rattus norvegicus male rats which were divided into 4 groups. The data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA. The results showed no significant differences (p <0.05) on the Balimo immersion water treatment, but if it was seen from the difference in the mean data of each variable, it could still be seen the difference from each treatment. In this study, it can be concluded that Balimo immersion water was able to improve the hematological status of rats that had been given Ciu liquor with a 0,2 mL dose.

Abstract

Tithonia diversifolia can be used as an antidiabetic, so it is necessary to study the safety of its use, especially the side effects on the liver and kidneys. This study aimed to determine the effect of using T. diversifolia leaf extract through histomorphometry observations of the liver and kidneys of hyperglycemic albino rats. The study design used a completely randomized design (CRD). This study used 20 male albino rats which were divided into five treatment groups, there were T0 (rat normal/control), T1 (hyperglycemic rat without T. diversifolia leaf extract), T2 (hyperglycemic rat administered with Glibenclamide 10 mg/kg BW), T3 (hyperglycemic rat administered with T. diversifolia leaf extract 150 mg/kg BW), T4 (hyperglycemic rat administered with T. diversifolia leaf extract 300 mg/kg BW). Every treatment was repeated four times. The damage of hepatocyte and the glomerular cell was observed through histological structure observation by histomorphometry method using a photomicrography microscope (Olympus BX51). The results indicate that there were significant differences (P < 0.05) in the variable of hepatocytes diameter and there was no significant different (P > 0.05) result on glomerular diameter, as well as kidney and liver weight. It was concluded that T. diversifolia leaf extract of 150 mg/kg BW and 300 mg/kg BW are safe to be used as antidiabetic. It does not cause any side effects on the liver and kidneys of hyperglycemic albino rats. Thereby T. diversifolia leaf extract can be further tested as preparation of biopharmaca which can be used as herbal medicines for diabetics.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk optimalisasi kualitas telur puyuh yang kaya β-karoten. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimental dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Hewan yang digunakan untuk produksi telur adalah 60 puyuh jepang (Coturnix japonica) betina dikelompokkan dalam 4 kelompok percobaan, yaitu P0: Kontrol (puyuh diberi pakan komersial), P1: Puyuh diberi perlakuan dengan pakan organik standar, P2: Puyuh yang diberi perlakuan pakan organik yang mengandung ikan kembung, daun singkong + serbuk kunyit P3: Puyuh yang diberi perlakuan pakan organic yang mengandung   rumput laut, daun singkong + serbuk kunyit. Masing-masing perlakuan terdiri dari 15 kali ulangan percobaan. Data dianalisis dengan Anova, dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan  (α=0.05.)  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian perlakuan pakan organik pada puyuh menyebabkan bobot telur puyuh menjadi lebih kecil dibandingkan yang tidak diberi perlakuan akan organik. Tidak terdapat perbedaan nyata terhadap konsumsi pakan dan bobot kuning telur, namun terdapat peningkatan rasio bobot kuning telur : bobot telur, peningkatan kadar β-karoten pada telur puyuh organik, baik pada P1, P2, dan P3.Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian pakan organik dapat meningkatkan kandungan β-karoten dalam telur puyuh.Kata kunci :β-karoten, pakan organik, puyuh jepang, telur puyuh.

Abstract

Studi perilaku dan analisis status darah celepuk jawa (Otus angelinae) dengan pemberian serbuk kunyit merupakan langkah awal dalam usaha penangkaran. Empat ekor Otus angelinae betina dan 4 ekor jantan dengan bobot 9 g. Otus angelinae, masing-masing dibagi dalam 4 kelompok, yaitu kelompok K0: Otus angelinae betina kontrol, K1: : Otus angelinae jantan kontrol, P0 : Otus angelinae betina yang diberi suplemen serbuk kunyit 108 mg/ekor/ hari yang dicampur dalam pakan, P1 : Otus angelinae jantan yang diberi suplemen serbuk kunyit 108 mg/ekor/ hari yang dicampur dalam pakan Diamati perilaku dan kondisi fisiologis dengan menganalisis komponen kimia darah yaitu kadar hemoglobin, jumlah eritrosit, jumlah leukosit, pH darah, deferensial leukosit meliputi jumlah sel neutrofil, eosinofil, basofil, limfosit dan monosit, kadar kolesterol LDL,HDL, trigliserida, glukosa darah, SGPT,SGOT yang diambil pada akhir perlakuan. Dilakukan analisis deskriptif terhadap perilaku dan kondisi fisilogis Otus angelinae. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemberian suplemen serbuk kunyit tidak mempengaruhi perilaku celepuk jawa. Perbedaan perilaku terjadi pada siang dan malam hari selama dalam kandang. Perilaku siang hari: banyak istirahat, tidak nafsu makan, sangat waspada terhadap gangguan, sedangkan perilaku pada malam hari sangat agresif, makan lebih aktif. Pemberian serbuk kunyit dapat mempertahankan status fsiologis normal Otus angelinae jantan maupun betina.

Abstract

This experiment was conducted to determine the development of Japanese quail embryo (Coturnix coturnix japonica), through observation and measurement of embryo organ development from the age of one day until hatching. The study used 15 female quails and 5 male quails. 15 female quails were divided into 5 cages, each cage containing 3 quails females and 1 male quail. Eggs which are inserted into an egg incubator is produced when the quail began the age of 3 months. Descriptive observation has been made ​​towards the development of organs in the embryo. Based on the results of the study, the growth and development of quail embryo organs occur in stages until hatching occurred during the 16 days.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the triglyceride profile of Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) after being given the parameters of turmeric (Curcuma longa) powder; feed intake, profiles of liver triglycerides, profiles of serum triglycerides and profiles of meat triglycerides. This study uses an experimental method with A Completely Randomized Design Pattern. Test animals used were 45 female Japanese quails were divided into 3 groups, namely; P0: quail were not given turmeric powder, P1: quail were given turmeric powder a dose of 54 mg/quail/day, P3: quail were given turmeric powder a dose of 108 mg/quail/day. Each group with 5 replications. Each repeat consists of 3 Japanese quails. Provision of treatment every day for 30 days starting from the age of 14 days. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Duncan's test with 95% confidence interval (α = 0.05 level). Analysis of the data used is software Minitab software 16. Results showed that the levels of turmeric powder are given in Japanese quail significant (P˂0.05) on liver triglyceride levels, serum and Japanese quail meat but had no significant effect (P˃0.05) on consumption feed. The results showed that the optimal dose of turmeric powder to lower triglyceride levels of Japanese quail is 108 mg/quail/day as evidenced by the highest decrease in liver triglyceride profiles, profiles of serum triglycerides and triglyceride profiles of Japanese quail meat compared with other treatments.

Abstract

Kunyit merupakan salah satu tanaman rempah yang umum digunakan sebagai obat. Salah satu senyawa yang memiliki aktivitas antioksidan serta anti-inflamasi dalam kunyit yaitu kurkumin. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh serbuk kunyit maupun kurkumin terhadap kualitas spermatozoa tikus putih yang diberi pakan hiperlipid. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL), menggunakan 25 ekor tikus putih jantan yang dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Kelompok perlakuan meliputi kontrol (C0), diberi pakan hiperlipid (C1), diberi pakan hiperlipid dan kurkumin 1,35 mg/200gBB/hari (C2), diberi pakan hiperlipid dan serbuk kunyit 200 mg/200gBB/hari (C3), dan diberi pakan hiperlipid dan simvastatin 0,18 mg/200gBB/hari (C4). Parameter yang diukur meliputi jumlah spermatozoa, persentase morfologi spermatozoa normal, serta deskrisi abnormalitas morfologi spermatozoa. Data kuantitatif hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA pada taraf kepercayaan 95%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan bermakna (P < 0,05) pada jumlah spermatozoa dan persentase spermatozoa normal tikus putih yang diberi pakan hiperlipid selama 56 hari. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah pemberian kurkumin maupun serbuk kunyit dapat meningkatkan kualitas spermatozoa tikus putih yang diberi pakan hiperlipid, dengan kurkumin memberi pengaruh lebih baik dibandingkan serbuk kunyit.

Abstract

Neem leaves is one part of the neem tree (Azadirachta indica) containing antifertility compounds which can suppress the rate of male rat reproduction. The purpose of this study is to examine Gonadosomatic Index after exposure of neem leaves ethanol extract as antifertility compounds. This study is an experimental study with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), using 12 male rats devided into 4 treatment groups and 3 replications. P0 is a control with aquades treatment, P1, P2, and P3 (neem leaves ethanol extract with each dose of 60, 80, and 100 mg/kgBW/day). The treatment was administered orally wiht a volume of 1 ml for 14 days. The main parameters are testicular weight, body weight and GSI. Body weights were measured every 7 days. Surgery was done after the treatment ends for measuring testicular weight and testicular isolation continued by measuring GSI values. GSI value is determined from body weight and testicular weight. The results were analysed using ANOVA at 95% confidence level. The analysis results showed that there were no significant differences (P>0.05) in the body weight and testicular weight parameters, but there were a significant different (P<0.05) in GSI values. The test results of GSI values show the different decrements in the treatment of P2. Based on the results of the test, it could be concluded that the exposure of neem leaves ethanol extract at doses of 60, 80, 100 mg/kgBW/day for 14 days of exposure time can cause antifertility effect in male rats.
