Abstract

Fingerprint is a technology that can be used to identify a person. The dusting method is most often used on latent fingerprints because it is relatively easy and simple. However, the composition of the ingredients used in latent fingerprint powder is toxic and can be hazardous to health. This research was carried out using a new natural powder from Suji leaf as a simple, non-toxic, and cheaper. Suji leaf powder produces a green color that comes from the chlorophyll compounds contained in it. This chlorophyll compound will bind to alanine to identify latent fingerprints. The particle sizes used in this study were of 60-200 mesh. The results found that the particle sizes of 100 and 200 mesh provided good green contrast and clear visualization of the fingerprint patterns. Meanwhile, at the particle size of 60 and 80 mesh, it was found that the results were not clear visualized. The highest percentage of fingerprint patterns based on blood group, gender and ethnicity was found in form of loops. The percentage of fingerprint patterns formed based on the highest was of O 31.1; B 12.2; AB 8.8; and A 6.6 percent. The highest percentage of fingerprint patterns formed by gender were of 45.5 for women and 13.3 percent for men. The highest percentage of fingerprint patterns formed by ethnicity were Malay 21.1, Batak 20, and Javanese 17.7 percent.

Abstract

One of the causes of low student learning outcomes is the lack of student interest in chemistry learning. This is also due to students' disinterest in reading chemistry textbooks provided by the school. This study was aimed to obtain feasibility, effectiveness, teacher and student responses to flip-based chemistry illustration on equilibrium of acid and base ions. The research method used was research & development (R&D) with a 4D model which consists of 4 stages, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. This research was conducted at the XI-F class SMA Negeri 2 Percut Sei Tuan. The results showed that flip-based chemical illustration books met the good criteria. Evaluation of the feasibility of flip-based chemical illustration books by material experts with an average percentage of 78 percent in the feasible category and 75 percent from media experts in the feasible category. Meanwhile, based on the N-Gain score of 0.62 in the moderate category, flip-based chemistry illustration books was found to be effective in improving student learning outcomes. Overall, the response of the chemistry teacher and students gave a positive response to flip-based chemistry illustration books with a percentage of 100 85, respectively. This study concluded that flip-based chemistry illustration book on equlibirium of acid and base ions was feasible to apply in chemistry learning. Abstract

Abstrak: Masyarakat Desa Banyumas Kec. Stabat Kab. Langkat Sumatera Utara mayoritas berprofesi sebagai peternak lembu dan biasanya mengandalkan rumput sebagai sumber utama pakan ternak lembunya. Namun, ketersediaan rumput pakan semakin sedikit dengan bertambahnya areal pemukiman. Desa Banyumas berbatasan langsung dengan areal perkebunan tebu milik PTPN II Sumatera Utara. Setiap musim panen, dihasilkan limbah pucuk tebu sebanyak 560 ton perharinya. Limbah pucuk tebu ini berpotensi sebagai sumber pakan hijauan pengganti rumput. Namun, masyarakat peternak Desa Banyumas belum memiliki pengetahuan tentang pemanfaatan limbah pucuk tebu sebagai pakan ternak, selain itu masyarakat belum memiliki teknologi tepat guna (TTG) alat pencacah limbah pucuk tebu. Tahapan pelaksanaan kegiatan ini yaitu (1) Pendidikan: sosialisasi pemanfaatan limbah pucuk tebu sebagai pakan ternak, (2) Penyediaan alat TTG pencacah pucuk tebu, dan (3) Pelatihan pembuatan pakan ternak dari limbah pucuk tebu. Limbah pucuk tebu diolah menjadi produk silase melalui proses fermentasi. Sebelum dilakukan fermentasi, pucuk tebu terlebih dahulu dicacah menggunakan TTG alat pencacah pucuk tebu. Pada setiap tahap kegiatan ini, masyarakat peternak sangat antusias dan turut aktif. Pengetahuan masyarakat peternak juga telah meningkat yang semula belum mengenal produk pakan dalam bentuk silase kini mampu membuat silase secara mandiri. Abstract: Banyumas Village society, Stabat Districts, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra Province majority work as cattle breeders and usually rely on grass as the main source of their cattle feed. However, the availability of forage grass decreases with increasing residential area. Banyumas village is directly adjacent to the sugar cane plantation area belonging to PTPN II North Sumatra. Every harvest season, 560 tons of sugarcane shoots are produced per day. This sugarcane shoot waste has the potential as a source of forage substitute for grass. However, the farming community of Banyumas Village does not yet have knowledge about the use of sugarcane shoots waste as animal feed, besides that the community does not yet have appropriate technology for chopping sugarcane shoots waste. The implementation stages of this activity are (1) Education: socialization of the utilization of sugarcane shoots waste as animal feed, (2) Provision of sugarcane shoots chopper TTG equipment, and (3) Training on making animal feed from sugarcane shoots waste. Sugarcane shoot waste is processed into silage products through a fermentation process. Prior to fermentation, the shoots of sugar cane were first chopped using a TTG tool for chopping sugar cane shoots. At each stage of this activity, the farming community is very enthusiastic and actively participates. The knowledge of the farming community has also increased, those who were previously unfamiliar with feed products in the form of silage are now able to make silage independently.

Abstract

Pelajaran kimia merupakan salah satu ilmu pengetahuan yang susah dipahami karena teori yang dipelajari bersifat abstrak, banyak menggunakan rumus dan perhitungan, salah satunya pada materi kesetimbangan kimia. Penerapan kegiatan pembelajaran masih bersifat teacher centered yang menyebabkan siswa kurang aktif ketika proses belajar mengajar. Ketika pembelajaran berlangsung, siswa juga dinilai memiliki minat belajar yang rendah. Hal ini ditandai dari sikap siswa yang cenderung pasif dan kurang berperan saat proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Learning Cycle 5E berbantuan media I-Spring terhadap hasil dan minat belajar siswa SMA kelas XI pada materi kesetimbangan kimia. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua sampel yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling yaitu kelas XI IPA 1 dan XI IPA 2 dimana masing-masing kelas terdiri dari 34 siswa. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah pretest-posttest kontrol grup design yang melibatkan kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah instrumen tes berupa soal pilihan berganda berjumlah 20 soal dan instrumen non tes berupa angket minat berjumlah 20 pernyataan. Untuk uji hipotesis menggunakan uji t pihak kanan dan uji korelasi product moment. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh nilai pada uji hipotesis I yaitu t hitung > t tabel dimana harga t hitung sebesar 11,839 dan t tabel 1,996 dan pada uji hipotesis II, t hitung sebesar 11,339 dan t tabel sebesar 1,996. Hal ini menunjukkan adanya pengaruh model pembelajaran Learning Cycle 5E berbantuan media I-Spring terhadap hasil dan minat belajar siswa SMA kelas XI pada materi kesetimbangan kimia.

Abstract

Tingginya harga pupuk buatan berdampak pada keberlangsungan kegiatan pertanian. Hal ini menyebabkan masyarakat kesulitan dalam memenuhi kebutuhan pupuk untuk tanaman. PKM ini ditujukan untuk membantu mitra dalam mengatasi permasalahan terkait pupuk dengan memanfaatkan limbah kelapa muda di sekitar Jalan Perhubungan, Desa Laut dendang. Tim PKM melakukan kegiatan pelatihan pembuatan pupuk organik cair berbahan dasar limbah kelapa muda. Pelatihan dilakukan kepada mitra yang merupakan Kelompok Usaha Tanaman Buah dan Hias serta ibu-ibu Majelis Ta’lim Annisa di Desa Laut Dendang. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan beberapa tahap yaitu penyampaian materi terkait pupuk organik cair berbahan dasar limbah kelapa muda, praktek pembuatan pupuk organik cair, uji laboratorium, pengemasan produk, dan pemanfaatan produk. Mesin pencacah sebagai alat pembuatan pupuk organik cair diserahkan kepada mitra agar dapat melanjutkan pembuatan pupuk secara mandiri. Hasil yang didapat dari kegiatan PKM ini adalah pupuk organik cair dari limbah kelapa muda. Produk PKM ini dimanfaatkan oleh mitra untuk tanaman pertanian serta dapat dipasarkan secara luas sehingga meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat.

Abstract

Integrating digital learning tools has become increasingly important for enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes in the rapidly evolving educational landscape. This research aimed to assess the feasibility of a developed e-module and its impact on student learning outcomes. The development process followed the ADDIE Model, comprising five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The instruments used included interview sheets, e-module validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and a 20-item test instrument. The e-module was validated by experts based on content, presentation, language, and graphic criteria, achieving an average validity score of 91.6%, indicating strong validity. Following validation, the e-module was implemented with 36 eleventh-grade Science Program (XI MIA) students at a high Islamic school in Medan during the 2023/2024 academic year. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in student learning outcomes, as evidenced by an N-gain score of 0.76, which falls within the high criteria. Additionally, student responses to the e-module were overwhelmingly positive, with an average approval rating of 87%, categorising their feedback as "very good." The findings suggest that the developed e-module is feasible and effective in enhancing student learning outcomes. The high validation scores and positive student feedback indicate that the e-module is well-designed and meets educational standards. It is a valuable tool for improving student engagement and achievement in the classroom.

Abstract

Pakpak Bharat Regency in North Sumatra Province has significant potential in the agriculture sector, particularly in corn cultivation. However, the management of corn waste in this region has been suboptimal, with corn cobs often left to accumulate or burned, leading to environmental pollution. Limited technology and the high cost of equipment have hindered the community from processing this waste into organic fertilizer, resulting in dependence on externally purchased organic fertilizers. This study was aimed to enhance corn farmers' knowledge about processing corn cob waste into organic fertilizer. The methods used were included education, provision of appropriate technology (TTG) in the form of shredders, and training and mentoring in organic fertilizer production. Data were analyzed using scoring methods and Spearman Rank. The results were indicated a significant increase in corn farmers' knowledge in Pakpak Bharat regarding the processing of corn cob waste into organic fertilizer, with scores were rised from 1.57 (low) to 2.80 (high). Factors contributing to this improvement were included of age (rs=0.410*), education (rs=0.500*), and technology suitability (rs=0.620*). Through this activity, farmers learned to convert corn cob waste into organic fertilizer, which reduced environmental impact and improved their income and quality of life.   Abstrak Kabupaten Pakpak Bharat, Provinsi Sumatera Utara, memiliki potensi besar dalam sektor pertanian, khususnya dalam budidaya jagung. Namun, pengelolaan limbah jagung di wilayah ini masih belum optimal, dengan limbah pangkal jagung sering dibiarkan menumpuk atau dibakar, mengakibatkan pencemaran lingkungan. Keterbatasan teknologi dan biaya pengadaan alat yang mahal menghambat masyarakat dalam mengolah limbah ini menjadi pupuk organik, serta ketergantungan pada pupuk organik yang dibeli dari luar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan petani jagung tentang pengolahan limbah pangkal jagung menjadi pupuk organik. Metode yang digunakan mencakup edukasi, penyediaan teknologi tepat guna (TTG) berupa alat pencacah, serta pelatihan dan pendampingan dalam produksi pupuk organik. Data dianalisis menggunakan metode scoring dan Rank Spearman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan petani jagung di Pakpak Bharat mengenai pengolahan pupuk organik dari limbah pangkal jagung, dari skor 1,57 (rendah) menjadi 2,80 (tinggi). Faktor-faktor yang berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan ini meliputi umur (rs=0,410*), pendidikan (rs=0,500*), dan kesesuaian teknologi (rs=0,620*). Melalui kegiatan ini, para petani jagung memperoleh pengetahuan dalam mengolah limbah tongkol jagung menjadi pupuk organik, yang tidak hanya mengurangi dampak lingkungan dari pembakaran limbah tetapi juga pendapatan dan kualitas hidup mereka mestinya dapat ditingkatkan.

Abstract

This study was aimed at assessing the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning (PjBL)-based analytical chemistry flipbooks in improving students’ critical thinking skills and scientific literacy, and linking the results to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG-4), namely quality education. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, involving two groups: an experimental group (n = 250) using PjBL-based flipbooks, and a control group (n = 250) using conventional textbooks. The projects in PjBL were designed to challenge students to apply critical thinking skills in solving real problems in analytical chemistry. Scientific literacy was measured based on students’ ability to understand, evaluate, and apply chemical concepts in the context of the project. Critical thinking skills and scientific literacy tests were used to measure learning outcomes before and after the intervention. The instrument in this study was a test of critical thinking skills and scientific literacy. Statistical tests showed that the data were normally distributed (significance value 0.216), homogeneous variance (0.074), and significant differences between the experimental and control groups (t = 0.038, p < 0.05). The increase in n-gain in the experimental group reached 0.9 (high category), compared to 0.63 (moderate category) in the control group. This study concluded that Project-Based Learning-based flipbooks were significantly more effective than conventional textbooks in improving students’ critical thinking skills and scientific literacy. The results of this study confirmed the superiority of PjBL-based flipbooks in significantly improving students’ critical thinking skills and scientific literacy compared to conventional textbooks. Statistical data support (normal distribution, homogeneous variance, significant differences between groups, and high n-gain in the experimental group) encourages the adoption of PjBL-based flipbooks as an effective learning strategy to achieve quality education according to SDG-4.

Abstract

Beberapa faktor penyebab utama timbulnya banyak korban akibat bencana gempa adalah karena kurangnya pengetahuan kepala keluarga tentang bencana dan kurangnya kesiapan kepala keluarga dalam mengantisipasi bencana tersebut. Oleh karena itu, untuk meminimalisir risiko bencana harus menjadi bagian terpadu dengan kepala keluarga. Jenis penelitian berbentuk deskriptif dengan metode penelitian menggunakan sequential exploratory yang bertujuan untuk mendapatkan kajian tentang pengetahuan kepala keluarga dalam menghadapi ancaman bencana gempa bumi. Pengumpulan data telah dilakukan pada bulan Januari sampai bulan Februari 2015 di Kecamatan Baitussalam KabupatenAceh Besar. Cara pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu cluster sampling pada 381 responden kepala keluarga di Kecamatan Baitussalam Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesioner, pengolahan dan analisis data secara manual dengan menggunakan rumus p = 100% untuk melihat sejauh mana pengetahuan kepala keluarga dalam menghadapi bencana gempa bumi. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa pengetahuan kepala keluarga dalam menghadapi ancaman bencana gempa bumi di Kecamatan Baitussalam sudah baik, dari 381 responden hanya 46 responden yang masih kurang dalam memahami pengetahuan kebencanaan.

Abstract

Project based learning (PjBL) dianggap sebagai pendekatan yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa. Tujuan studi ini adalah untuk meninjau secara sistematis studi-studi empiris tentang implemenyasi project based learning dan bagaimana hal itu mempengaruhi kemampuan mahasiswa dalam berpikir kritis. Metode tinjauan literatur digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Informasi dikumpulkan dari sejumlah basis data akademik, termasuk Google Scholar, Sciencedirect, dan Scopus. Penelitian yang relevan kemudian dianalisis untuk menentukan tren, kesimpulan, dan variabel penting yang mempengaruhi hubungan antara PjBl dan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa secara signifikan terkait dengan penerapan PjBL. Penugasan proyek, kerja kelompok, dan refleksi diri semuanya membantu dalam hal ini. Namun, suasana belajar kolaboratif, dukungan dosen dalam memfasilitasi, dan desain proyek yang terorganisir dengan baik semuanya sangat penting untuk efektivitasnya. Sehingga perlu dilakukan penelitian lanjutan untuk menilai efektifitas penerapan project based learning di perguruan tinggi dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa
