Abstract

Sejak terjadinya pandemi covid 19 ketersediaan hand sanitizer di Indonesia menjadi sangat langka di pasaran, dikarenakan banyak orang yang membeli barang tersebut secara berlebihan. Pemerintah menghimbau kepada masyarakat untuk selalu menjaga kebersihan tangan dengan rajin mencuci tangan menggunakan sabun atau menggunakan hand sanitizer sebagai salah satu upaya mencegah penularan covid 19. Pembersih tangan (hand sanitizer) memiliki kemampuan menghambat hingga membunuh bakteri. Tujuan dilakukannya pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah memberikan pelatihan kepada masyarakat cara membuat hand sanitizer dari bahan sintetis dan bahan alam. Formula hand sanitizer dari bahan sintetis berupa alkohol 96%, hydrogen peroksida, gliserin dan aquades. Sedangkan formula hand sanitizer dari bahan alam berupa daun sirih, jeruk nipis dan aquades. Kegiatan ini merupakan kerjasama antara Dinas Perindustrian, Perdagangan, Koperasi, Usaha Kecil dan Menengah Provinsi Kalimantan Timur dengan Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan Samarinda. Peserta pada kegiatan ini adalah perwakilan warga Kelurahan Karang Asam Ilir, Kelurahan Sempaja Utara dan Kelurahan Sungai Kapih. Metode yang digunakan pada pengabdian masyarakat meliputi ceramah tentang pentingnya menjaga kebersihan tangan, pengertian hand sanitizer, uraian bahan yang digunakan, dilanjutkan demonstrasi dan bimbingan. Kegiatan ini didanai oleh Desperidagkop UKM Provinsi Kalimantan Timur. Harapan dengan dilaksanakan pelatihan ini ialah masyarakat dari kelurahan yang menjadi peserta lebih peduli dengan kebersihan dan dapat memenuhi kebutuhan hand sanitizer untuk keluarga dan masyarakat sekitarnya.

Abstract

Daun singkil memiliki kandungan senyawa metabolit sekunder berupa flavonoid, saponin, tanin dan triterpenoid/steroid. Pengeringan merupakan salah satu tahap pembuatan simplisia yang dilakukan agar simplisia tidak mudah rusak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kadar flavonoid ekstrak etanol daun singkil berdasarkan variasi suhu dan waktu pengeringan simplisia. Tahapan penelitian meliputi pengambilan sampel, determinasi tumbuhan, pembuatan simplisia dengan pengeringan oven pada suhu 50 ºC dan 70 ºC dengan waktu 8 dan 10 jam, ekstraksi secara maserasi, skrining fitokimia ekstrak, penetapan kadar flavonoid menggunakan Spektrofotometri UV-Vis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun singkil memiliki senyawa metabolit sekunder yaitu tanin, flavonoid, saponin dan terpenoid/steroid. Kadar rata-rata flavonoid ekstrak etanol daun singkil berdasarkan suhu dan waktu pengeringan simplisia berturut-turut mulai dari yang tertinggi adalah suhu 50oC waktu 10 jam sebesar 1,54% ; suhu 70 ºC waktu 8 jam sebesar 1,50% ; suhu 70 ºC waktu 10 jam sebesar 1,38% dan suhu 50 ºC waktu 8 jam sebesar 0,96% .

Abstract

Plants as medicinal ingredients have potential as antimicrobials and antioxidants, with various molecules that can protect the human body from pathogens and cellular oxidation. This is closely related to the secondary metabolitescontained in these plants. Currently there are several bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics, therefore it is necessary to find an alternative to overcome this resistance by conducting research on medicinal plants. Sekilang (Embeliaborneensis) is a plant that is used by the Dayak tribe in Kalimantan as an ingredient for catching fish, repelling leeches and hair care and does not rule out having medicinal properties. So it is necessary to do research on these plants, especially the bark. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of sekilang bark extract against Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. Extraction of the active substance was carried out by maceration with ethanol solvent and antibacterial activity test using the disc diffusion method. The results of phytochemicalscreening showed that the bark extract of sekilang contains saponins, flavonoids, alkaloids and tannins. The results of the antibacterial activity test against Propionibacterium acne at a concentration of 2.5%; 5% ; 10% and 20% are 6.5 mm, respectively; 8.36 mm ; 7.5mm; 7.33mm. Antibacterial activity against Staphyllococus epidermidis at a concentration of 2.5%; 5% ; 10% and 20% are 7.0 mm, respectively; 7.7mm; 6.33mm; 7.8mm. It was concluded, that the bark extract of sekilang have antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acne and Staphyllococus epidermidis with moderate category. The positive control used was clindamycin and the negative control was Dimethyl sulfoxy.

Abstract

Sekilang is one of the plants in North Kalimantan and is found in the Ampan Ibau Forest. This plant is empirically used by the people of Long Temuyat Village as a poison from natural ingredients to catch fish and as a leech repellent. The content of active compounds in sekilang bark extract include alkaloids, tannins, saponins, flavonoids. These compounds have the potential as antibacterial, so it is necessary to test the antibacterial activity. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of the sekilang bark extract against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The research phase included plant determination, sample collection, maceration extraction, and antibacterial activity test using the disc diffusion method with extract concentrations of 20%, 30%, and 40%. The results showed that the ethanol extract of the bark of sekilang has the potential to inhibit bacterial growth. The antibacterial activity of the bark extract of the cruciferous plant against Escherichia coli bacteria at concentrations of 20%, 30% and 40%, respectively, was 5.9 mm, 6.7 mm and 5.9 mm. Meanwhile, the activity of the bark extract against Staphylococcus aureus at concentrations of 20%, 30% and 40%, respectively, was 7.6 mm, 6.8 mm and 8.0 mm. The antibacterial activity of the bark extract against both bacteria was included in the moderate criteria.

Abstract

Garbage is a problem that has not been resolved until now. The central and local governments have tried to make regulations on waste management and have disseminated them to the public, but the waste problem still cannot be resolved. Community concern for the environment plays an important role in overcoming this problem. Starting from the smallest scope, namely the family or household to get used to managing waste properly and correctly. Household waste, especially kitchen waste, can be used as compost. The processing of household waste into compost can be done individually or in groups such as at the RT level. This community service aims to provide counseling about the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness and the use of household kitchen waste as compost. The activity is intended for residents of Jalan Agus Salim RT 18, Sungai Pinang Luar District, Samarinda. The method used is counseling followed by demonstration of composting, pre-test and post-test are also carried out to determine the level of community understanding of this community service activity. This activity was attended by the head of the RT and several residents as representatives of the residents of the RT. The existence of this activity is expected to change people's behavior to be better in managing waste and become a source of income for residents.

Abstract

Sekilang stem bark (Embelia borneensis Scheff.) contains secondary metabolites, such as alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, and saponins. Saponin compounds are divided into two types, namely steroids and triterpenoids which have the ability as antibacterial, antifungal, antidiabetic and expectorant. The purpose of this study was to determine the type of saponin and to determine the antibacterial activity of the methanolic extract of sekilang bark against Streptococcus mutans and Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria. The research stages included plant determination, sample collection, simplicia making, extract preparation by maceration method using methanol, phytochemical screening, identification of saponins and antibacterial activity test of methanol extract of sekilang stem bark by disc diffusion method against Streptococcus mutans and Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria with a concentration of 15% , 20%, 25%, 30%, and 35%. The results showed that the methanol extract of sekilang stem bark contained triterpenoid saponins and had antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutans bacteria at concentrations of 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, and 35% with an inhibition zone formed of 7.65 mm, 7.89 mm, 7.67 mm, 7.98 mm, and 7.13 mm the criteria for antibacterial strength were categorized as moderate. The methanolic extract of the bark of sekilang did not show antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria, because there was no inhibition zone formed around the paper disc. The positive control used was amoxicillin 0.1% and the negative control used 1% DMSO.

Abstract

Efforts to increase public knowledge and understanding about the use of antibiotics need to be made. This is because many people assume that antibiotic drugs are drugs to cure various diseases. This growing phenomenon among the community is motivated by the lack of knowledge related to the use of antibiotics. Education on Dagusibu (Get, Use, Store and Dispose) antibiotics is expected to increase people's understanding of how to get, use, store and dispose of antibiotics and can implement it in everyday life, especially in the immediate family environment. This community service activity by lecturers of the College of Health Sciences was carried out in Sambutan Village, Sambutan District, Samarinda, East Kalimantan. The counseling participants were PKK mothers and Posyandu cadres who were expected to disseminate the information we had conveyed to the surrounding community. Abstract

Selutui puka (Tabernaemontana macrocarpa Jack.) secara empiris digunakan oleh Suku Dayak sebagai obat sakit gigi dan sariawan. Getahnya digunakan sebagai pengobatan tumor, kudis dan kulit melepuh. Selutui puka berpotensi untuk dikembangkan menjadi obat tradisional, sehingga perlu dilakukan karakterisasi.  Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui karakteristik spesifik dan non spesifik ekstrak etanol daun selutui puka (EEDSP). Daun selutui puka diekstraksi secara maserasi dengan etanol 70%. EEDSP dikarakterisasi meliputi parameter spesifik yaitu organoleptik, kadar senyawa larut air dan etanol serta kandungan metabolit sekunder. Parameter non-spesifik meliputi kadar abu total, kadar abu tidak larut asam, cemaran mikroba dan angka kapang khamir (AKK). Hasil diperoleh rendemen ekstrak sebesar 20,76%. EEDSP berwarna hijau kehitaman, kental, rasa pahit, dan berbau khas. Kadar rata-rata senyawa terlarut dalam air dan etanol masing-masing 20± 0,00% dan 36,66±5,50%. EEDSP mengandung alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, tanin, dan steroid. Kadar air, abu total dan abu tidak larut asam masing-masing 0,38 ± 0,01; 21,66 ± 2,08 dan 8,35 ± 0,03 . Hasil dari total cemaran mikroba sebanyak  6,1 × 10-2  koloni/g serta AKK 5,7 × 10-2 koloni/g. Seluruh parameter karakteristik EEDSP memenuhi persyaratan.

Abstract

Pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata Duch) is a food rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, minerals, carbohydrates, and flavonoid compounds. Flavonoids have several pharmacological activities, including as antioxidants to ward off free radicals. This study aims to determine the total flavonoid content and antioxidant activity of pumpkin fruit. The extraction of pumpkin fruit was done by the maceration method in a 70% ethanol solvent. The total flavonoid test used the colorimetric method with a 10% AlCl3 reagent and quercetin as a positive control. Antioxidant activity was tested using the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method. The results obtained for the total flavonoid content of the ethanol extract of pumpkin fruit amounted to 1.741 mgQE/g ± 0.2438 and an IC50 value of 379.44 ppm, including the category of weak antioxidant, compared with the positive control.

Abstract

Comparison Of Antihypertension Effects Of White Tea, Yellow Tea, Black Dragon Tea And Green Tea Ethanol Extracts In Indonesia, hypertension is still a significant health issue. Every year, Indonesia sees a rise in the prevalence of hypertension. Green tea, black dragon tea, white tea, and yellow tea all contain flavonoid antioxidants that may be used to treat hypertension by acting through the antioxidant route. The comparison of the antihypertensive effects of various ethanol extracts of white tea, yellow tea, blackdragon tea, and premium green tea (Camellia sinensis L.) is the main goal of this study. Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design research is this kind of experimental study. White tea, yellow tea, black dragon tea, and premium green tea (Camellia sinensis L.) were all subjected to antihypertensive tests using various ethanol extracts. Thirty Wistar rats were placed into six groups for the antihypertension test, each group comprising are group I (CMC. Na 1%), Group II (Captopril 2.25 mg/kgW), Groups III, IV, V and VI were the treatment groups. which consists of administering ethanol extracts of White Tea, Yellow Tea, Black Dragon Tea and Green Tea Premium at a dose of 500 mg/kgW. Blood pressure checks were carried out 3 times, namely before induction (TD I), after induction (TD II), and after being given the test solution (TD III). The results of the blood measurements then calculate the antihypertensive activity. In this study, it was discovered that captopril had a 40.0% antihypertensive action, compared to 33.3% for white tea ethanol extract, 37.2% for yellow tea, 37.7% for black dragon tea, and 38.0% for green tea. The results of this study indicate that the four ethanol extracts of tea, when administered at a dose of 500 mg/kgBB, can have an antihypertensive effect. However, only yellow tea, black dragon tea, and green tea are not substantially different from captopril (p>0.05).  Hipertensi masih menjadi suatu masalah kesehatan yang cukup besar di Indonesia. Prevalensi hipertensi di Indonesia terus meningkat setiap tahunnya. White tea, yellow tea, black dragon tea dan green tea mengandung senyawa flavonoid sebagai antioksidan yang dapat berpotensi sebagai antihipertensi dengan melalui jalur antioksidan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui perbandingan efek antihipertensi berbagai ekstrak etanol white tea, yellow tea, blackdragon tea dan green tea premium (Camellia sinensis L.). Jenis penelitian ini yaitu penelitian eksperimental Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Uji antihipertensi berbagai ekstrak etanol berbagai produk teh yaitu white tea, yellow tea, black dragon tea dan green tea premium (Camellia sinensis L.). Pada uji antihipertensi, 30 ekor tikus galur wistar di bagi menjadi 6 kelompok yang terdiri dari kelompok I (CMC. Na 1%), Kelompok II (Captopril 2,25 mg/kgBB), Kelompok III, IV, V dan VI merupakan kelompok perlakuan yang terdiri dari pemberian ekstrak etanol White Tea, Yellow Tea, Black Dragon Tea dan Green Tea Premium dengan dosis 500 mg/kgBB. Pengecekan tekanan darah dilakukan sebanyak 3 kali yaitu pada sebelum penginduksian (TD I), setelah penginduksian (TD II), dan setelah diberikan larutan uji (TD III). Hasil Pengukuran darah tersebut kemudian dihitung aktivitas antihipertensinya. Pada penelitian ini dapat diperoleh data bahwa aktivitas antihipertensi Captopril 40,0%, ekstrak etanol white tea 33,3%, yellow tea 37,2%, black dragon tea 37,7% dan green tea 38,0%. Melalui penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa keempat ekstrak etanol teh tersebut dengan dosis 500mg/kgBB dapat berefek sebagai antihipertensi, namun hanya yellow tea, black dragon tea dan green tea yang tidak berbeda bermakna (p>0,05) dibandingkan dengan captopril.
