Abstract

It is important for a student to be able to solve problems. This study aims to describe students’ thinking processes in solving open-ended problems with online learning reviewed from mathematical abilities. This research is descriptive in nature with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this research consist of three 8th grade students, while the research instruments that were used consist of a mathematical ability test, an open-ended problem test and interview guideline. The results of the study reveal that student with high mathematical abilities meets all indicators of thinking processes, while student with average mathematical ability at the step of understanding the problem, did not carry out of making arguments, at the step of devising a plan he did not carry out the considering thinking process, as well as did not give an argument at the step of looking back. Almost the same as these results, student with low mathematical ability did not carry out the thinking process of remembering and the process of considering, while at the step of looking back, he did not carry out the process of considering and making an argument. Based on these results, it can be concluded that mathematical ability affects a student’s thinking process.

Abstract

Manajemen laba merupakan tindakan manipulasi kecurangan pada laporan keuangan berupa laba-rugi perusahaan. Beberapa faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi manajemen laba yaitu ukuran dewan komisaris, komisaris wanita, dan juga aktivitas dari komite audit. Tujuan penelitian yaitu untuk menguji ada tidaknya dampak ukuran dewan komisaris, komisaris wanita, dan aktivitas komite audit pada manajemen laba perusahaan manufaktur sektor farmasi yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) tahun 2018-2022. Kajian ini berupa kajian kuantitatif dengan variabel independen ukuran dewan komisaris yang diwakili oleh kapasitas dewan komisaris, komisaris wanita, serta aktivitas komite audit yang diwakili dengan skor rapat pada jajaran komite audit, serta variabel dependen manajemen laba yang dinilai dengan menggunakan Real Earnings Management (REM). Riset ini memakai teknik purposive sampling dengan menghasilkan 39 sampel. Studi ini menggunakan metode analisis statistik deskriptif dengan alat analisis statistik regresi linier berganda dengan SPSS versi 22. Hasil riset membuktikan bahwa secara parsial ukuran dewan komisaris, dan aktivitas atau jumlah rapat pada komite audit memiliki pengaruh negatif signifikan terhadap manajemen laba, sedangkan komisaris wanita memiliki pengaruh positif signifikan terhadap praktik manajemen laba. Secara simultan ukuran dewan komisaris, komisaris wanita, dan aktivitas komite audit memiliki pengaruh pada praktik manajemen laba.

Abstract

Statistical literacy is strongly needed in the 21st century in reading data information, thinking critically and making decisions. The purpose of this study is to describe the statistical literacy abilities of high school students in solving contextual problems taking into account their initial statistical abilities, with the following indicators, Tier 1 (reading & explaining data), Tier 2 (analyzing, interpreting, interpreting critically, and making conclusions), Tier 3 (presenting data and predicting something). This research is a qualitative in nature, using statistical ability test, statistical literacy test, and interview guidelines to collect data. The subjects of this study consist of three female students of grade XII Senior High School, with high, medium and low initial statistical ability categories. The results of this study revealed that (1) The student with high initial statistical abilities can meet the indicators of Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, so that she can be categorized at level 5 to 6 (critical-mathematics critical), (2) The student with medium ability can fulfil the Tier 1 indicator not fulfil the indicators in Tier 2 and Tier 3, so that it can be categorized at level 3 to 5 (Consistent noncritical-Critical), and (3) The students with low abilities can fulfill the indicators of Tier 1 not fulfil the indicators in Tier 2 and Tier 3, so that it can be categorized at level 1 to 3 (Idiosyncratic-Consistent Noncritical). Therefore, it is important for students and teachers to know statistical literacy skills in order to increase their understanding and ability to understand information in making decisions regarding daily problems.

Abstract

In a culture that is spread across various societies, mathematical concepts are applied in it. The mathematical concept contained in this folk culture is called ethnomathematics. This study aims to find and describe mathematical concepts spread in the historical and cultural heritage of the Sumenep district community. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using an ethnographic approach. The research data were obtained from related literature, observations, interviews, documentation, and field notes. The informants in this study were a historian, a tourism ambassador, a royal family, three market traders, a Tong-tong activist, a traditional dancer, a batik entrepreneur, and a keris craftsman. The results showed that in daily activities and the culture in the Sumenep district, mathematical concepts are used by the people of Sumenep district. The Sumenep people use geometric concepts, namely straight lines, curved lines, parallels, triangles, squares, rhombuses, trapezoids, circles, cubes, beams, prisms, pyramids, cones, balls, and tubes in building designs and traditional games. The community also uses the concept of geometric transformation, namely congruence, translation, dilation, rotation, and reflection on the batik motifs they make. Also found the concept of set and comparison; these concepts are used in traditional Sumenep dance. With the study of mathematics in this culture, mathematics learning becomes more varied and contextual so that students will more easily understand abstract mathematical concepts.

Abstract

Abstrak Tidak semua permasalahan matematika dapat dianggap sebagai masalah. Sebuah soal matematika baru hanya dianggap sebagai masalah jika tidak bisa dipecahkan secara langsung dan memerlukan keterampilan khusus untuk menemukan solusinya. Oleh karena itu, keterampilan pemecahan masalah menjadi salah satu kompetensi yang sangat penting yang harus dimiliki dan dikembangkan oleh peserta didik. Dalam pemecahan masalah melibatkan keterampilan seseorang untuk memperoleh dan mengaplikasikan pengetahuan baru atau pengetahuan yang sudah dimiliki untuk menemukan pendekatan atau cara yang baru untuk menangani dan menyelesaikan masalah yang dihadapi. Dalam memecahkan masalah matematika, diperlukan suatu proses yang disebut matematisasi, yaitu suatu proses untuk mengubah suatu fenomena menjadi bentuk matematika. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan proses matematisasi yang dilakukan oleh peserta didik saat mereka menyelesaikan masalah dalam topik aljabar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Terdapat tiga subjek penelitian yang dipilih dari hasil analisis tes kemampuan matematika terhadap 27 peserta didik kelas VII A di salah satu SMP di Surabaya. Setiap subjek yang dipilih mewakili kategori kemampuan matematika tinggi, sedang, dan rendah berdasarkan hasil tes kemampuan matematika yang telah dilakukan. Metode pengumpulan data yang diterapkan dalam penelitian ini adalah melalui tes matematisasi yang terdiri dari dua soal esai pada topik aljabar, serta melalui wawancara. Data yang terkumpul kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan indikator matematisasi De Lange. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peserta didik dengan kemampuan matematisasi tinggi memenuhi semua indikator matematisasi horizontal, tetapi kurang memenuhi satu indikator dalam matematisasi vertikal, yaitu penggunaan berbagai representasi matematis berbeda untuk menyelesaikan soal. Peserta didik dengan kategori sedang mampu memenuhi keseluruhan indikator matematisasi horizontal dan kurang memenuhi satu indikator pada matematisasi vertikal, yaitu menggunakan berbagai representasi matematis yang berbeda untuk menyelesaikan soal. Pada tahap matematisasi vertikal, peserta didik dengan kategori sedang melakukan revisi hasil pekerjaan karena kesalahan yang disebabkan oleh kurang pemahaman terhadap masalah yang disajikan. Sementara itu, peserta didik dengan kategori kemampuan matematisasi rendah tidak mampu menyelesaikan masalah secara mandiri dan tidak memenuhi seluruh indikator matematisasi. Oleh karena itu, penting bagi guru untuk memberikan perhatian khusus pada peserta didik dengan kemampuan matematika rendah dan mengintegrasikan lebih banyak masalah kontekstual dalam pembelajaran untuk membiasakan peserta didik dalam merencanakan langkah-langkah untuk menyelesaikan masalah. Kata Kunci: Matematisasi horizontal, matematisasi vertikal, aljabar Abstract Not all mathematical problems can be considered as challenges. A mathematical problem is only regarded as a challenge if it cannot be solved directly and requires specific skills to find its solution. Therefore, problem-solving skills become a crucial competency that students must possess and develop. In problem-solving, individuals engage in acquiring and applying new knowledge or utilizing existing knowledge to discover new approaches or methods for addressing and resolving encountered problems. Solving mathematical problems involves a process known as mathematization, which is the process of transforming a phenomenon into mathematical form. The objective of this research is to elucidate the mathematization process undertaken by students when solving problems in the topic of algebra. This study adopts a descriptive research design with a qualitative approach. Three research subjects were chosen based on the analysis of mathematical ability tests conducted on 27 seventh-grade students in one of the junior high schools in Surabaya. Each selected subject represents a high, moderate, and low level of mathematical ability based on the results of the mathematical ability test. The data collection method employed in this research includes mathematization tests consisting of two essay questions on the topic of algebra, supplemented by interviews. The gathered data are then analyzed using the De Lange mathematization indicators. The research findings reveal that students with high mathematization abilities fulfill all horizontal mathematization indicators but fall short on one vertical indicator, which is the use of various mathematical representations to solve problems. Students with moderate abilities manage to meet all horizontal mathematization indicators but lack fulfillment in one vertical indicator, namely using diverse mathematical representations to solve problems. In the vertical mathematization stage, students with moderate abilities revise their work due to errors caused by a lack of understanding of the presented problem. Meanwhile, students with low mathematization abilities cannot independently solve problems and do not meet all mathematization indicators. Hence, it is crucial for teachers to pay special attention to students with low mathematical abilities and incorporate more contextual problems into learning to familiarize students with planning steps to solve problems. Abstract

Pada pembelajaran matematika kegiatan belajar lebih berpusat pada guru dan latihan soal di buku LKS sehingga sebagian peserta didik tidak paham secara konsep dan aplikasi materi dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Berdasarkan observasi pada peserta didik kelas 7H di SMPN 2 Pamekasan, menunjukkan sebanyak 80% peserta didik mengatakan bahwa pembelajaran matematika cenderung membosankan terutama materi segi empat yang sedang dipelajari, karena hanya terpacu pada gambar bangun datar beserta dengan rumus luas dan kelilingnya. Hal tersebut mengakibatkan peserta didik tidak berpartisipasi aktif dalam pembelajaran dan berpengaruh pada hasil belajar peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik dengan menerapkan Problem-Based Learning dan pendekatan Culturally Responsive Teaching untuk mendorong peserta didik berpartisipasi aktif dalam proses pembelajaran melalui permasalahan di kehidupan sehari-hari dengan mempertimbangkan latar belakang budaya. Penelitian yang dilakukan merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas. Data yang dikumpulkan pada penelitian ini melalui hasil tes dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan Problem-Based Learning dan pendekatan Culturally Responsive Teaching dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar dan aktivitas belajar peserta didik. Persentase ketuntasan dari pra siklus, siklus I, dan siklus II meningkat dari 40.63% menjadi 56.25% hingga 71.87% di siklus II. Aktivitas belajar siswa dinyatakan cukup aktif di siklus I dan meningkat dengan kriteria aktif di siklus II. Problem-Based Learning dan pendekatan Culturally Responsive Teaching dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan hasil dan aktivitas belajar peserta didik.

Abstract

Kemampuan representasi matematika adalah kemampuan seseorang dalam menangkap ide matematika melalui beberapa bentuk dalam berbagai cara yang disajikan dalam bentuk yang lain seperti gambar, tabel, grafik, maupun simbol sebagai pengganti dalam menentukan penyelesaian dari suatu masalah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan representasi matematika peserta didik laki-laki dan perempuan dalam menyelesaikan soal literasi numerasi. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Hasil penilitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan representasi peserta didik laki-laki dan perempuan memenuhi semua indikator kemampuan representasi matematika. Selain itu antara peserta didik laki-laki dan perempuan memiliki cara atau solusi yang berbeda dalam menyelesaikan soal literasi numerasi. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini Peserta didik laki-laki dan perempuan pada pada kemampuan representasi gambar, mampu mampu menyajikan permasalahan yang diberikan ke dalam berbagai bentuk baik berupa gambar, diagram, tabel, atau grafik, guna menyelesaikan permasalahan yang ada. Peserta didik laki-laki dan perempuan pada kemampuan representasi simbolik, mampu menuliskan informasi dari suatu masalah kedalam simbol, persamaan, ekspresi, model matematika dengan benar guna menyelesaikan permasalahan. Kebaruan dari penelitian ini terletak Pada strategi penyelesaian masalah, peserta didik perempuan cenderung menggunakan cara yang utuh dan detail dengan menggunakan ungkapan kata-kata dalam menyelesaikan soal serta sangat memperhatikan hal-hal kecil di setiap penulisan jawaban

Abstract

The ability to think creatively is one of the abilities that every student must have from as early as possible, because if the ability to think creatively is not trained from an early age then the development of students' thinking abilities will not develop. With the importance of creative thinking abilities, this research aims to improve the creative thinking abilities of students in class VII-G of SMP Negeri 2 Pamekasan with the 2023/2024 even semester academic year with triangle and quadrilateral material by applying an open ended problem approach. This research also explains the criteria for creative thinking abilities using four criteria, including: 1) Fluency, 2) Flexibility, 3) Originality, and 4) Detailedness (elaboration). The research method used is classroom action research (PTK) which consists of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Data collection was carried out by means of observation and tests. Observations and tests were carried out to determine the level of students' creative thinking abilities during the learning process using an ongoing open ended problem approach with the subjects in this research being students in class VII-G of SMP Negeri 2 Pamekasan. The results of this research are that there is an increase in teacher (researcher) activity when carrying out teaching and learning activities from cycle I to cycle II, cycle II to cycle III, and cycle III to cycle IV. Apart from that, there has been an increase in the activity of teachers (researchers) and students in implementing learning and it is also in accordance with the learning implementation plan in the teaching module in increasing students' creative thinking abilities with triangle and quadrilateral material by applying an open ended problem approach.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the increase in student learning outcomes through the Project Based Learning learning model on the material of flat-sided prisms and pyramids. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Pamekasan in the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. This research is collaborative classroom action research using the Kemmis and McTaggart model. Observation and test collection techniques were carried out in two cycles. The cycle stages consist of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Findings during carrying out learning activities in cycles I and II showed that the completeness of students' learning outcomes had increased. In the first cycle, 7 students got grades in the good category with a percentage of 21.88% and in the poor category, there were 25 students with a percentage of 78.12%. This shows that more students get a score below the KKM 70 than students who complete it. Meanwhile, in cycle II, 3 students got very good grades with a percentage of 9.38%, 15 students in the good category with a percentage of 46.88%, 10 students in the fair category with a percentage of 31.25% and the poor category as many as 4 children with a percentage of 12.5%. From the learning results of these students, it can be said that as many as 28 students have achieved completeness in classical learning outcomes, namely 87.5%. Based on completeness data, students' learning outcomes have exceeded the KKM 70 and the minimum limit for classical completeness is 85%. The results of the research show that the use of the project-based learning model on the material of flat-sided prisms and pyramids can improve mathematics learning outcomes for class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Pamekasan for the 2023/2024 academic year.
