Abstract

Indonesian mangroves have faced serious damage over the past 30 years, losing a significant portion (22.6%) of the global total. This loss harms communities, like the one in Bulakbaru village, Jepara, where coastal erosion (abrasion) is a major problem. From 1995 to 2019, Jepara's coast lost over half (55%) of its mangrove cover. The study area in Bulakbaru shows a worrying trend: increasing abrasion, a lack of awareness among residents about the issue, and no preventative measures to stop further erosion. This research used remote sensing data to analyze the vulnerability of Bulakbaru Beach to abrasion. By combining nine different factors, researchers created a map showing areas more or less susceptible to erosion. Areas with denser mangroves fell into the low vulnerability category, while those with less mangrove cover were classified as medium vulnerability. Field observations confirmed these results - denser mangroves offered better protection. Unfortunately, most of Bulakbaru's mangroves, especially those closest to the sea, are damaged. This damage is caused by pollution (garbage) hindering their growth and strong waves breaking them. The study suggests solutions to reduce abrasion vulnerability: restoring the mangroves and implementing Wave Breaking Equipment (APO) to create a more favorable environment for mangrove growth.

Abstract

Introduction: Indonesia's maternal mortality rate is still above the target of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Meanwhile, the trend of maternal mortality in Indonesia during the COVID- 19 pandemic in 2021 increased sharply from 4,627 to 6,865 cases in 2021. Aims: This study was conducted to analyze the relationship between the quality of maternal health services on the incidence of maternal COVID and maternal mortality during the COVID pandemic in East Java, Indonesia. Methods: The research was conducted in East Java Province in 2021. The sample was randomly selected as many as 35 samples from a total of 38 samples of Regencies / Cities. The data used secondary data sourced from data from the East Java Health Office. Data analysis used Person Correlation analysis with Chi-Square analysis method. Results: The first hypothesis did not find a relationship between quality of Antenatal Care services and Maternal COVID cases (p- value: 0.195, r: -0.087). The second hypothesis has a significant relationship between the Maternal COVID and the Maternal Mortality (p- value: 0.040, r: 0.548). Also, the third hypothesis showed a substantial correlation between Maternal Mortality and quality of Antenatal Care (p- value: 0.001, r: -0.555). Conclusion: There is a strong relationship between the high Maternal COVID cases and the quality of access to antenatal care services to the high Maternal COVID cases during the pandemic. There needs to be a strategy to improve the quality and access of antenatal care services in reducing the high maternal mortality rate.

Abstract

The application of Islamic economics, especially in rural areas. This article discusses the implementation of cyber law in Islamic economic transactions in Plumbon Village through Community Service (PkM) activities. The main objectives of this study are to improve the community's digital law literacy, provide information on positive legal regulations and Islamic fatwas, and assist the community in preventing illegal digital-based transactions. The method used was a descriptive qualitative approach with a Participatory Action Research (PAR) model, through the stages of preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The results of the study showed that the digital legal literacy of the Plumbon Village community before the activity was still low; 68% of respondents were not familiar with the ITE Law and 74% did not understand sharia regulations such as the DSN-MUI fatwa or the role of BASYARNAS. After the socialization and assistance activities, the community's understanding increased significantly: 72% were able to distinguish between legal and illegal sharia financial products, 76% were aware of positive legal regulations, and 71% understood the role of sharia institutions. These findings confirm that a participatory approach is effective in increasing awareness of digital sharia law. Furthermore, this study emphasizes the importance of integrating positive law and sharia law as a comprehensive framework for maintaining justice, security, and the sustainability of the digital sharia economic ecosystem.

Abstract

This study explores toponymy in the Pati and Jepara regions by tracing water-related elements in place names from the 17th century, linking them to landscape changes around the Muria Strait. Using a geohistorical approach, the research reconstructs the dynamics of the northern Central Java coastal landscape, focusing on shifts in water boundaries that once separated Mount Muria from the island of Java. The study combines toponymic analysis with hydrological, geological, and historical archival data to trace the evolving function and meaning of aquatic spaces in local communities. This process also influenced spatial transformations and patterns of settlement. The toponymic findings reveal that several place names in Pati and Jepara contain references to water. Their distribution patterns correlate with remnants of ancient river flows, marshlands, and waterways that have since dried up or changed form. Geological evidence indicates significant sedimentation in the Muria Strait from the late 16th century onward, gradually leading to the merging of Muria Island with Java’s mainland. By connecting toponymic patterns with natural transformations, this study affirms that water served not only as a physical element but also as a cultural symbol, encoding traces of local ecological change. These findings contribute to interdisciplinary research on coastal landscape evolution and underscore the importance of place names as a source of geohistorical information in Indonesia.
