Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi respon pertumbuhan dan produksi rosella (hibiscus sabdariffa L.) pada tanah salin dengan pemberian asam salisilat dan giberellin (GA3). Penelitian ini dilakukan di rumah kaca, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan, pada Februari 2014 sampai Juni 2014. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 3 (tiga) factor dan 3 (tiga) ulangan. Faktor pertama giberellin (GA3) dengan dua taraf yaitu 0 mg L-1, 5 mg L-1. Faktor kedua asam salisilat dengan tiga taraf yaitu 0 mM, 0,5mM, 1 mM. Faktor ketiga tingkat salinitas dengan 2 taraf yaitu 0 dsm-1 dan 4-5 dsm-1. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa interaksi antara giberellin dan cekaman salinitas memperlihatkan pengaruh nyata pada peubah pertumbuhan seperti persentase perkecambahan, tebal kutikula dan betakaroten. Interaksi antara perlakuan asam salisilat dan cekaman salinitas memperlihatkan pengaruh nyata pada tebal kutikula dan betakaroten. Interaksi tiga factor perlakuan giberellin, asam salisilat dan cekaman salinitas menunjukkan pengaruh yang nyata pada peubah tebal kutikula dan betakaroten.

Abstract

Konservasi sumber daya tanah adalah perlindungan sumber daya alam tanah. Hal ini dicapai dengan menghilangkan atau mengurangi dampak manusia terhadap lingkungan alam, pemanenan sumber daya lahan yang bertanggung jawab, serta upaya konservasi yang bertujuan untuk membalikkan kerusakan manusia terhadap sumber daya lahan. Konservasi dan pelestarian lingkungan menawarkan dua pendekatan tentang bagaimana mengelola lahan publik secara bertanggung jawab. Pengabdian Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk melakukan penanaman akar wangi (Vetiveria zizanioides) di taman edukasi dan konservasi sumber daya lahan Lembah Juhar, Kabupaten Langkat, Sumatera Utara. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan berupa penanaman 200 bibit tanaman akar wangi yang dilakukan di taman edukasi dan konservasi sumber daya lahan Lembah Juhar, Kabupaten Langkat bersama dengan beberapa praktisi dan akademisi dari berbagai institusi di daerah Sumatera Utara dalam rangka Hari Air Sedunia, selain itu pengabdian masyarakat ini juga memberikan sosialisasi mengenai tanaman akar wangi kepada masyarakat sekitar lahan Lembah Juhar, Kabupaten Langkat mengenai pentingnya konservasi dan pelestarian lingkungan yang sekaligus dapat memberikan manfaat kepada masyarakat sebagai taman edukasi.

Abstract

The research was carried out from June to completion, at the Deli Tobacco Research Institute (BPTD) Sampali PTPN II. This study aims to determine the effect of KCl fertilizer and goat urine on the growth and yield of Japanese cucumbers. This study used a factorial randomized block design (RAK) with 2 factors. The first factor is KCl with 4 levels, namely S0 (Control), S1 (10 g/plant), S2 (20 g/plant), S3 (30 g/plant) the second factor is Goat Urine with 4 levels, namely K0 (Control), K1 (200 ml/plant), K2 (400 ml/plant) and K3 (600 ml/plant). Parameters measured were vine length, leaf number, leaf area, number of fruit per plant, fruit length, number of fruit per plot, fruit weight per plant and fruit weight per plot. The results showed that KCl fertilizer had an effect on the number of fruits per plant and the number of fruits per plot but the administration of goat urine had no effect on all parameters. The interaction of KCl fertilizer and goat urine did not affect all parameters.

Abstract

The impact of bagworm (Metisa plana) attack on the production of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) at Tanjung Beringin Plantation PT. Langkat Nusantara Kepong. This study aims to assess the extent of attack by bagworms (Metisa plana) and the impact of bagworm attacks (Metisa plana) on oil palm production in Tanjung Beringin Plantation PT. Langkat Nusantara Kepong. The study method used was descriptive statistics by collecting data from the estate office and direct interviews. The study was carried out at Afdeling III Tanjung Beringin Plantation, PT. Langkat Nusantara Kepong. The assessment was carried out from February to July 2022. The statistical analysis method used to determine the impact of bagworm (Metisa plana) attacks on oil palm production was using tables, graphs and Descriptive Statistics analysis. The results of tables, graphs and Descriptive Statistics analysis show that the attack area of the bagworm (Metisa plana) in 2019-2021 has decreased by 66.62% and the attack of the bagworm (Metisa plana) has an impact on oil palm production. The wider the pest attack, the smaller the production. Pest attacks in 2019 of 680 Ha experienced a decline in production in 2020 by 2.33% and pest attacks in 2020 of 374 Ha experienced an increase in production in 2021 by 11.60%.

Abstract

Pada umumnya, setiap rumah memiliki pekarangan, khususnya rumah yang berada di Desa Huta Durian, Kecamatan Bintang Bayu, Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai. Pekarangan rumah dapata dimanfaatkan sebagai apotek hidup terutama sebagai penyedia tanaman obat. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi kepada masyarakat tentang pemanfaatan pekarangan rumah untuk penanaman apotek hidup sebagai penyedia obat-obatan herbal. Adapun metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah terjun langsung ke lapangan berbaur dengan masyarakat. Pengabdian masyarakat ini. Adapun kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan berupa pembuatan apotek hidup, kegiatan pembagian BLT di Desa Huta Durian, gotong royong bersama masyarakat Desa Huta Durian dan sosialisai ODF yang bekerjasama dengan Tim verifikasi dari Puskesmas Bintang Bayu sehingga masyarakat menetahi manfaat dan pentingnya keberadaan Water Closet (WC) yang layak di dalam rumah. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini membuat masyarakat, di Desa Huta Durian mengetahui manfaat apotek hidup dan termotivasi untuk membuat sendiri di pekarangan rumah masing-masing. Selain itu, terjalinnya hubungan yang lebih erat dan baik antar sesama masyarakat di Desa Huta Durian.

Abstract

Root induction is an important step in plant propagation in vitro. Root stimulation can occur in the presence of the hormones auxin and gibberellins which can be obtained from other plants, one of which is bananas. The research aims to determine the effect of various species and concentrations of the banana extract on Phalaenopsis amabilis root induction in vitro. The research was conducted in the Laboratory of Tissue Culture Alifa Agricultural Research Center (AARC), Medan, North Sumatera, from May until July 2020. The research used a Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 2 factors, the first factor was the type of banana extract with 3 levels, consisting of Ambon, Raja, and Kepok. The second factor is the concentration of banana extract (C) with 4 levels, consisting of 50 g/l, 100 g/l, 150 g/l, 200 g/l. The results showed that the concentration of banana extract had a significant effect on the number of roots, but various species of bananas and the interaction of the species of bananas and concentration banana extract had no significant effect on root induction

Abstract

Vetiver root is a commodity that is tolerant enough to be planted in salty soils with a certain level of salinity. One approach to increase oxidative stress tolerance that will increase the enzyme substrate at the cellular level is ascorbic acid. The purpose of this study was to increase students' knowledge about how the response of vetiver seed (Vetiveria zizanioides) growth in salt soils to ascorbic acid through practical field learning in plant physiology courses. This research was conducted using a factorial randomized block design (RBD), the first factor was the salinity (S), namely S0: 0 dsm-1 and S1: 4 dsm-1. The second factor was ascorbic acid (A), namely A0: without treatment, A1: 50 ppm, A2: 100 ppm and A3: 150 ppm. There were 8 treatment combinations that were repeated 3 times resulting in 24 experimental units. The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves and number of stomata. In this study, ascorbic acid had a significant effect on plant height, number of leaves and number of stomata. Saline soil had a significant effect on the number of stomata parameters. No interactions for all parameters were observed.

Abstract

Implementasi dalam menghantarkan kebijakan dilakukan juga di lingkungan Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) salah satunya melalui penilaian implementasi kegiatan Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka dalam program asistensi mengajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana penilaian implementasi program asistensi mengajar di UMSU. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu deskriptif kualitatif melalui survei dengan memberikan angket kepada mahasiswa, dosen dan tendik. Instrumen tersebut berupa angket penilaian implementasi kegiatan Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka Program Asistensi Mengajar. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa UMSU peserta Program Kampus Mengajar Angkatan 1, Angkatan 2 dan Angkatan 3. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kepuasan mahasiswa terhadap program asistensi mengajar berdasarkan fakultas di UMSU menunjukkan skor total sebesar 3,65 artinya secara keseluruhan pelayanan yang diberikan UMSU berada pada level 4 dengan kriteria hasil memuaskan, kepuasan mahasiswa terhadap Kemampuan mahasiswa menyusun perencanaan kegiatan Asisten Mengajar dengan mean sebesar 3.72 yang berada pada kriteria sudah memuaskan, kepuasan mahasiswa terhadap Keterlibatan mahasiswa dalam mengikuti kegiatan akademik, dengan mean sebesar 3.69 yang berada pada kriteria memuaskan, kepuasan mahasiswa terhadap Keterampilan mahasiswa dalam adaptasi teknologi dalam pembelajaran, dengan mean 3.59 berada pada kriteria memuaskan. kepuasan mahasiswa terhadap keterlibatan mahasiswa dalam mengikuti kegiatan non akademik berada pada kriteria sudah memuaskan (3.58) AbstractThis Implementation in delivering policies was also carried out within the Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra (UMSU), one of which is through an assessment of the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) activities in the teaching assistance program. This study aims to determine the extent to which the implementation of the teaching assistance program at UMSU was assessed. The research method used was descriptive qualitative through a survey by giving questionnaires to students, lecturers and staff. The instrument was in the form of a questionnaire assessing the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka Teaching Assistance Program activities. The research subjects were UMSU students participating in the Campus Teaching Program Batch 1, Batch 2 and Batch 3. The results showed that the level of student satisfaction with the teaching assistance program based on the faculty at UMSU showed a total score of 3.65 meaning that overall the services provided by UMSU were at the level 4 with the criteria of satisfying results, student satisfaction with the ability of students to plan Teaching Assistant activities with a mean of 3.72 which was in the criteria of satisfactory, student satisfaction with student involvement in participating in academic activities, with a mean of 3.69 which is in the criteria of satisfying, student satisfaction with Student skills in adapting technology in learning, with a mean of 3.59 was in the satisfactory criteria. student satisfaction with student involvement in participating in non-academic activities was in the satisfactory criteria (3.58).

Abstract

Deficiency or excess magnesium in the soil can affect the vegetative and generative growth of plants. This study aimed to identify the effect of magnesium deficiency and toxicity on the agronomic and physiological characteristics of upland rice. The study was conducted on farmers' land, Medan Selayang Subdistrict, Medan City, from June 2021 to January 2022. This study used a non-factorial randomized block design, namely the application of 27% MgO fertilizer based on the deficiency rates, (0; 1/2; 1/4; 1/8; 1/16; 1/32 times), while the toxicity levels include 0; 2; 4; 8; 16; 32-times within three replicates. The results showed that Mg deficiency significantly inhibited the growth of plant height; leaf area; total chlorophyll SPAD; panicle length; shoot dry weight; and yield.ha-1 were 20.68; 26.77; 19.23; 22.60; 44.20; and 50.72%, respectively. The Mg toxicity significantly inhibited the growth of the leaf area, the number of tillers, number of productive tillers, shoot dry weight, and root dry weight were 14.24; 32.15; 42.87; 34.07; and 44.31%, respectively. The critical limit (BK50) for upland rice caused by deficiency and toxicity of Mg were 0.032 and 1125.189 g/10 kg of the soil, respectively.

Abstract

Teknik perbanyakan kopi secara vegetatif dengan cara setek memiliki beberapa keunggulan yaitu menghasilkan tanaman baru dalam jumlah banyak dengan waktu relatif singkat dan biaya operasional yang relatif murah. Namun kelemahan dari teknik perbanyakan ini adalah tingkat keberhasilannya yang lebih rendah dibandingkan teknik lain. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh interaksi antara perbedaan konsentrasi Zat Pengatur Tumbuh (ZPT) air kelapa dan ekstrak bawang merah terhadap respon pertumbuhan setek kopi robusta yang berasal dari pucuk (S1) dan ruas pertama setelah pucuk (S2). Penelitian ini dilakukan di laboratorium lapangan perkebunan Politeknik Pembangunan Pertanian Medan menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok pola faktorial. Faktor pertama adalah pucuk pertama dan ruas pertama setelah pucuk, faktor kedua adalah konsentrasi ZPT 50% dan 75% serta kombinasi ZPT air kelapa dan ekstrak bawang merah dengan 5 ulangan. Variabel yang diamati meliputi jumlah tunas, jumlah daun, diameter daun, panjang akar dan jumlah akar. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan ANOVA (Analysis of variance) dan dilanjutkan dengan uji  Duncan taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemberian konsentrasi  ZPT bawang merah 50%. dapat meningkatkan jumlah tunas, jumlah daun, diameter daun, panjang akar dan jumlah akar. Pemberian konsentrasi ZPT  bawang merah 50%. y juga memberikan pengaruh terhadap keberhasilan pembibitan. Persentase setek berakar meningkat pada perlakuan pucuk dibandingkan ruas pertama setelah pucuk dengan perlakuan ZPT bawang merah 50%.
