Abstract

Abstract

Gasoline–ethanol–methanol (GEM) blends have been considered to replace pure gasoline as spark ignition engine fuel. Their physical and chemical properties and performance and emission measurements from real engines have been reported previously. However, a fundamental study that can explain the unique results of GEM compared with those of pure gasoline is lacking. This study aims to compare the laminar burning velocity of GEM blends at different mixtures, equivalence ratios, temperatures, and pressures with that of pure gasoline. A laminar flame propagation model and reaction mechanisms from the literature were were for a numerical simulation. In this study, the chemical components of real gasoline are simplified using a binary surrogate mixture. Results show that the laminar burning velocity of the GEM increased with the increase in temperature, ethanol, and methanol concentration, and it decreased with the increase in pressure. Sensitive reactions to laminar burning velocity are presented through a sensitivity analysis.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate the effects of 0.25 % Mo (Molybdenum) which is contained in the ductile cast iron on mechanical properties of Austempered Ductile Iron (ADI). The various temperatures and the holding times are used in the heat treatment processes. Using a given 0.25 % Mo in the ductile iron, ADI's alloyed developes a higher ultimate tensile stress value and decreases the elongation if we compare with the as cast (non alloy ductile iron). The higher impact energy value obtained at 9000 C austenization and 375o C austempering temperatures during 60 minutes holding times. The structure changes into ausferrit.

Abstract

Fuel Injection System for One Cylinder Motor Cycle Engine. Fuel injection has been developed for many years. But its common application is limited on car’s engine. With many reason fuel injection systems in motorcycle one cylinder engine has not been widely used yet. Fuel Injection System allows the amount of fuel, injected to be controlled appropriate to engine parameters such as engine speed, amount of air inducted to cylinder, temperature, for each cycle, over the entire engine operating conditions. This fuel injection research is done to find out the Volumetric Efficiency of the intake manifold system, the amount of fuel need to be injected for each engine cycle, and the engine characteristics over variation of test conditions. This research based on Honda CB100 engine, at applied thermodynamic Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering University of Indonesia. Experiment data from this research shows the characteristics of injector duration as functions of engine speed, intake pressure, on one cylinder engine and the results of this research shows a good Volumetric Efficiency of the intake manifold designed using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic).

Abstract

Several types of alternative fuels have been developed to replace fossil fuels. Alcohols, such as ethanol and methanol, can be blended with gasoline for spark ignition (SI) engines. High octane number and oxygen content in alcohol can increase combustion efficiency. Therefore, our current research investigates the effect of high concentrations of ethanol and methanol mixed in 90 RON gasoline. The mixture was implemented in a 150 cc single-cylinder four-stroke spark ignition (SI) engine without any modifications. Engine testing was carried out with wide-open throttle (WOT) and different engine speeds from 4000 to 10000 rpm. Torque, power, and Air Fuel Ratio (AFR) were measured during experiments on a chassis dynamometer. Our test results found that the higher the methanol fraction in the mixture, the lower the torque generated. To improve engine performance, further research is needed on modified engines so that optimal conditions can be identified.

Abstract

In this paper, an investigation of the use of gasoline-ethanol-methanol on the spark ignition engine is presented, it is not common practice on public roads to use three fuels simultaneously in a spark-ignition engine. Using methanol reduces the ignition delay during combustion, especially at lean air-fuel ratios, and reduces knocking potential in small amounts. The best result ignition delay with value λ= 1,3 obtained in the E5M15 mixture with SoC occurred at 325 CAo, while the value λ= 1,0 also obtained on the same mixture with SoC occurred at 321,5 CAo. The CCV results indicate a more sloping increase in the COV (coefficient of variation) value when using GEM fuel, particularly with the addition of more methanol. The addition of methanol enhances combustion progression and improves the ability of the fuel blend to sustain combustion under lean conditions. Regarding the torque and power values, at λ= 1,0; 1,1; 1,2 are not significantly different, while the value λ= 1,3 is below the other λ values.

Abstract

Seletreng Village, Kapongan District, Situbondo Regency has a coastal area geographically. The condition impacts to abundance of marine products, which gives rise to home-based businesses processing fishery products indirectly. The businesses are still home-based start-ups or are small-scale production. The existence of newly started small businesses or micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) certainly has several problems that require assistance and strengthening. Newly started MSME generally still does not have legality, the main raw materials are selected fish obtained in certain seasons, and lack of ability in branding and digital marketing aspects. The strengthening MSME is purposed to newly started MSME are able to compete and have quality through 1) Assistance MSME legality in the form of Business Identification Number, SPP-IRT, and Halal Certification, 2) Innovation in substitute raw materials, 3) Assistance and training in product branding and digital marketing. The service carried out in the UNEJ KKN Building Villages (UMD) program has an achievement target: MSME has received assistance, and strengthening can compete and has high quality. Sustainability is also a serious concern so MSME can continue to run in the market, so the service train business actors in operating marketplaces.

Abstract

Porang, known for its high oxalate content that poses digestive challenges, served as the underlying problem in this study. The research investigated the impact of immersion conditions on oxalate reduction in porang, both in the form of longitudinal slices and diced pieces, using various soaking media, including vinegar, alcohol, and water, with temperature variations. The study identified that the optimal immersion time for achieving maximum oxalate reduction in longitudinal slices was 150 minutes at 50°C in water, resulting in a 0.00495% decrease. In the case of diced porang, the most significant reduction occurred after 120 minutes at 70°C in alcohol, leading to a 0.0045% decrease. These findings shed light on the influence of porang shape and soaking conditions on oxalate release, with diced porang demonstrating faster oxalate reduction, likely due to its smaller surface area. The study offers valuable insights into effectively reducing oxalate levels in porang, contributing to safer consumption.
