Abstract

Communication resource for extension of integrated agricultural systems program which includes: facilitators agents, farmers, messages, methods, and facilities/infrastructure is not well maintained premises. Communication effectiveness of integrated farming systems program is only characterized by a change in the attitude of the farmers participating in the program, while other indicators such as knowledge, skills, and actions do not characterize the effectiveness of communication. The success of the integrated farming systems program is only characterized by the creation of jobs and the development of farming intensification and extensification.The objectives of this research are: (1) analyze the relationship management of communication resources for extension with successful integrated farming systems and (2) designing a communications resource management model for extension of integrated farming system. To achieve these objectives, the study was conducted with survey design combined with the correlation approach. Determining the location of the study and determination of respondents using purposive, whereas data analysis using Structural Equation Modelling approach (SEM).The results showed: (1) communications resource for extension in the integrated farming system has not been managed in accordance with management functions and this is associated with less successful programs of integrated farming systems; (2) resource management model of communication for extension of integrated farming system is a structured scheme of action in managing communication resources in accordance with management functions

Abstract

Effication of Chitosan on Lengthening The Flower Longevity of Potted Orchid ofDendrobium Hybrid. The aim of the current research is to investigate general effects of Chitosantreatment on the flowering of Dendrobium orchid and to find out the optimum concentration of Chitosanin lengthening flower longevity of potted orchid of Dendrobium hybrid. Results of the research showedthat Chitosan application significantly affected variables of the number of flower per-plant, the length ofindividual flower, period of time to get full blooming, and the flower longevity. The best results for thoseof variables was achieved with Chitosan concentration of 0.15%.

Abstract

Physico-Chemical Studies of Tangerine (Citrus nobilis Lour.) on the Differences Level of Maturity Fruits during the Storage Period. Tangerine (Citrus nobilis Lour.) is one of the citrus variety developed in Bali because of the high production and preferred by consumers. In Bali, the center of citrus fruit development is in Kerta village, district of Payangan, Gianyar since 2003. The randomized block design with a single factor was used, with 4 treatments of fruit maturity level and 6 replications. The purpose of this study to determine the level of maturity of citrus fruit based on proper skin color of the fruit to be harvested and to determine the effect of maturity based on the skin color of the fruit, the physico-chemical changes of citrus fruit during storage. The harvest stage of the treatment were 217 days after dormancy (Tk1), 231 days after dormancy (Tk2), 245 days after dormancy (Tk3), and 255 days after dormancy (Tk4). The results showed that the highest shrink in diameter was 0,58cm (Tk1) whereas, the highest weight loss subjectly 19,98% (Tk4) and subjectly towards to the highest water content loss, but also subjectly with lowest levels of vitamin C reduction to 11.87% and the highest of total soluble solit (TSS) increase to 3.29 (oBrix). The indicators preferred by the panelist were neutral according to color, flavour, taste and overall appearance. The good storability for citrus at Tk2 with low damage.

Abstract

Effect of several concentrations of preservatives Chrysal the tuberose flower freshness (Polianthes tuberosa). Nowadays, ordering tuberosa cut flower is increasing, but the main problem which is often happen for tuberose flower is the short vase life of tuberose cut flower freshness. One of appropriate strategies that can be used to improve flower freshness is the use of preservatives. The main function of preservatives is as improving for the vase life of cut flower freshness. Chrysal preservatives are a soaking liquid which contains sucrose, dextrose, and citric acid in order to improve vase life of flower. This research is aimed to identify the influence of Chrysal to improve vase life of tuberose flower freshness. This research is conducted in Post-harvest Technology Laboratory of Agriculture Technology Faculty in Udayana University. This research uses complete random sequences (RAK) based on one factor namely Chrysal concentrative. Each action including five repetitions and a trial includes two stems of tuberose cut flower. The outcome shows that Chrysal concentrative influences the significant for four variables namely, percentages of flower blossom, flower freshness, long flower freshness, and the total of absorbed solution. The actions of concentrative Chrysal influence significant for weight loss. The short vase life of flower freshness are haven on using Chrysal concentrative 0 mg (C0) along four days, and the long vase life of flower freshness are haven on using Chrysal concetrative 1000 mg (C4) for five or four days.

Abstract

Improvement of The Quality of Balinese Table grape (Vitis Vinifera L. Var. Alphonso Lavallee) using GA3 Application Before Flowering. Research concerning of “Improvement of Balinese Tablegrape (Vitis Vinifera L. Var. Alphonso Lavallee) using GA3 before flowering” had been done during May to August 2015 at the vineyard located at Kalianget Village, in Buleleng Regency, Bali. Theobjective of the research was to find out method in improving the quality of Balinese table grape using GA3 application. The experiment was designed as Randomized Block Designed, with GA3concentration as a treatment, i.e. 0, 50, 100, 150, 200 ppm. The results showed that, application of GA3 before flowering increased bunch length, improved oBrix, induced seedless, however decreasedberry weight.

Abstract

The Identification of Morphological and Agronomic Characters of Gonda (Sphenocleazeylanica Gaertn) in Jembrana - Bali. Gonda (a local name) is a vegetable plant that has high nutritional value, however, limited information about this plant and related matters incultivation provide constraints in its development. Research concerning inventaritation and identification is required to support the development. The aim of the research was to find out information about the cultivation and characters of gonda. This research was conducted in October 2014 - March 2015 in Jembrana - Bali. Inventaritation was done through observation including deployment, history and cultivation method. While identification was done by identify morphological characters (vegetative and generative organs) and agronomic characters (height of plant and number of leaves). The results showed thats the gonda spread across rice fields at an altitude of 6 - 90 m AMSL. Gonda has been intensively cultivated since 1950 by farmers through seedling and planting. Various morphological and agronomic characters were identified among gonda planted by farmer in Jembrana, Bali. Based on the type of the branch, morphologically, gonda was grouped in to monopodial and sympodial. While for agronomic characters, a wide range of size and the number of organs were found among gonda cultivars planted by farmers in Jembrana.

Abstract

Identification and Characterization of Genetic Resources of Local Fruits inTabanan. The fruit is a source of vitamins and minerals that ensure the metabolic processesin the human body, some of which can also be used as medicines, cosmetics, SPA (massage)social and culture as a means to use for the material of offerings. Tabanan regency, as well asother areas in Bali has a variety of fruit but the resources still underutilized. This researchaims to identify the type of fruit genetic resources in Tabanan, profile the genetic resourcesregarding the morphology of fruit and agronomic characters, as well as to compile thegeographical spread map and diversity of fruits. Identification and characterization as well asthe distribution map is very important for the conservation, development and utilization ofgenetic resources in Tabanan Regency. The results of the research conducted in Tabanan,found 31 type and 52 subtype local fruit, with 6 different types of eminent fruit, 15 kinds ofrare fruits, 12 kinds of fruit that usually use for upakara and 4 types of fruits that are use asmedicine. Based on the results of the survey conducted in tabanan then it can be possible tocomposed 34 geographical local fruit spread map.

Abstract

Mechanism of Rice Adaptation at Drought Stress Conditions and Effort to Prevent Crop Failure Harvest losses of rice caused by drought is about 15-20% every year, so it needs rice varieties that can adapt to the conditions referred to in order to harvest losses can be reduced. To get the rice varieties that can adapt to environmental conditions such as drought, then the required information in advance about the properties owned by the rice plant varieties capable of responding to drought conditions. This paper is organized with the aim to study the mechanisms of adaptation of plant varieties of rice in drought stress conditions. Adaptation mechanisms are grouped into two main groups namely, anatomy morphological adaptation mechanism and physiology biochemical mechanisms of metabolic adaptation. Morphological adaptation mechanisms include anatomic distribution properties and root growth, maintain plant water potential, canopy temperature, the leaves curl and abort. Biochemical adaptation mechanisms include metabolic physiology traits ability to synthesize secondary metabolites such as ethylene and abscisic acid, osmotic adjustments such as increasing accumulation of sugars, amino acids and proline. Furthermore, to prevent crop failure takes effort to implement cultivation techniques schedules and cropping patterns, planting drought-resistant varieties, and the addition of organic matter.

Abstract

Isolation and Identification of Endomycorrhizal on Corn Root (Zea mays L.) at Medium Plain and its Propagation at Different Soil Water Level. Endomycorrhizal has several benefits that can increase the absorption of water and nutrients, protect plants from root pathogens and toxic elements, play a role in the improvement of soil structure, and increase the solubility of nutrients. The purpose of this research is to find out the types endomycorrhizal contained in the corn roots at medium plains in Gianyar Regency, and the influence of different soil water level to endomycorrhizal ability to reproduce spores. This research was conducted from September 2017 to February 2018. The method of the research includes exploration, isolation, identification, propagation of spores endomycorrhizal, and soil samples analysis. Isolation and identification result found 2 genus of spores endomycorrhizal that was Glomus and Acaulospora, with various spore amount and the level of infection endomycorrhizal was very high with percentage of 83.33-86.67%. Spores propagation test results showed that the highest percentage enhacement of spores endomycorrhizal amount was found in the third soil sampling location in soil water level of 40% field capacity treatment with percentage of 551.85%. The level of endomycorrhizal infections at the roots of all treatment of soil sampling location and soil water level were very high with percentage of 100%.

Abstract

Time Storage and Effectivity of the Prototype of Mychorrhiza Biological Fertilizer with Volcanic and Sea Sand as the Carrier Media. This research aimed to study time storage and the efectivity of prototype of mychorrhiza biological fertilizer with volcanic and sea sand as the carrier media. The study was arranged using a randomized block design with 2 factors. The first factor was carrier media of mychorrhiza spore consist of 2 levels i.e. volcanic and and sea sand, and the second factor was time storage of prototype of mychorrhiza biological fertilizer consist of 3 levels i.e. 1, 2, and 3 month. The result of research showed that volcanic sand carrier media was better than the sea sand media proved by higher total dry weight. The best time storage of prototype of mychorrhiza biological fertilizer in this research was 1 month indicated by the highest amount of spores after storage. The interaction between carrier media and time storage gave significantly different just to stem diamater and fresh weight of corn cob.
