Abstract

Applications of Extracts of Fermented Immature Corn Seed and BambooSprout For Improvement of Table grape Quality of Vitis vinifera L. var.Alphonso Lavallee. The objective of the research was to determine the effect ofapplication of extracts of fermented immature corn seed and bamboo sprout for improvementof table grape quality. The research was designed as Completely Randomized Block Design,with five treatments and ten replications. The treatments were K0 (control), J50 (extract offermented immature seed of corn with concentration of 50%)), J100 (extract of fermentedimmature seed of corn with concentration of 100%), R50 (extract of fermented bamboo sproutwith concentration of 50%) and R100 (extract of fermented bamboo sprout with concentrationof 100%). The results showed that all of the treatments improved sugar content of the fruit.However, the treatment of J100 resulted in the greatest increase of berry number per-bunchand the lowest number of seed per-berry. In conclusion, for improvement of the table grapequality, the treatment of J100 was the most appropriate among other treatments used in thecurrent research.

Abstract

Quality Improvement of Guava Fruit (Psidium guajava L.) “Getas Merah” Cultivar Through GA3 Application, as an Effort to Increase Local Fruit Competitiveness. This study aimed to improve the quality of fruit of Getas Merah guava, which reduces the content of fruit seeds by giving gibberellic acids (GA3). This research was conducted in Banjar Lawak, Bilok Sidan Village, Petang District, Badung Regency from July to November 2017. The area of guava plant used by farmers with rental system. Samples taken in the field and then analyzed at the Laboratory of Agronomy and Horticulture Faculty of Agriculture Udayana University. Analysis of chemical content of fruits carried out in Food Analysis Laboratory Faculty of Agricultural Technology Udayana University. This experiment was a one-factor experiment with GA3 concentration of six levels i.e. G0 = 0 ppm, G1 = 50 ppm, G2 = 100 ppm, G3 = 150 ppm, G4 = 200 ppm and G5 = 250 ppm. Each level of treatments was repeated 5 times. The results showed that there was a decrease of seed content in fruit of 9.24% (GA3 of 50 ppm), 13.99% (GA3 of 100 ppm), 46.33% (GA3 of 150 ppm), 48.92% (GA3 of 200 ppm), and 65.01% (GA3 of 250 ppm) when compared to controls. In this study the treatment of several levels of concentration can reduce the number of seeds, but can not make fruit without seeds.

Abstract

One of the problems encountered in cultivating grapes is the low quality of the fruit, the size of the fruit is still relatively small, the taste is not sweet, and the bunches are relatively compact. The problem of compactness or density of fruit bunches causes the shape, size, and maturity of the fruit in the bunch to be less uniform and there are some broken and decayed fruits. Thus, it is necessary to support cultivation technology to support the success of grape cultivation in order to increase the yield and quality of the fruit, one of which is through berry thinning activities. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of berry thinning on the quality of the Kediri Kuning and Prabu Bestari grape varieties. The method used was a split plot design with the basic design of a randomized block design (RBD). The treatments tested were varieties and levels of fruit thinning. The first factor (main plot) was the variety consisting of Kediri Kuning (V1) and the Prabu Bestari variety (V2), while the second factor (sub-plot) was thinning level (P) with a level consisting of P0 = 0% control (without thinning). , P1 = fruit thinning 10%-25%, P2 = fruit thinning >25%-40%, P3 = fruit thinning 40%-55%. The results showed that thinning of berries in P3 treatment (>40-55%) gave a significantly higher effect on the variables of berry weight, berry diameter, fruit bunch length, fruit bunch weight, total dissolved solids, and vitamin C content.

Abstract

The Effect of Storage Media and Seeds Location in Fruit to the Viability of Cocoa Seeds (Theobroma cacao L.) One of the productivity of cacao plants is determined by the seeds. Cacao seeds are classified as recalcitrant seed that do not have dormancy period, so they need special storage technique and proper seeds selection to maintain their viability. This study aims to determine the effect of storage media and seeds location in fruit to the viability of cacao seeds. This study used factorial completely randomized design consisting of 2 factors with 3 repetitions. The first factor is storage media, consists of 3 levels (cocopeat 100%, cocopeat 50%+husk 50%, cocopeat 50%+saw dust 50%). The second factor is the seed location in fruit, consists of 3 levels (first, middle, and end of fruits). The observed variable includes the percentage of moldly seeds in the storage, seed moisture content, rate of germination, vigor index, germination, hypocotyl length, epycotyl length, and number of leaves. The result of the study showed that storage media very significally affected to the percentage of moldy seeds in the storage, seed moisture content, vigor index, germination, hypocotyl length, and significally affected to the rate of germination. The seed location significally affected to seed moisture content, vigor index, germination, and epycotyl length. There is no significant interaction between storage media treatment and seed location to all benchmark of cacao seed viability observed. The good treatment is in the cocopeat storage media 50%+saw dust 50% with the seeds location in the first and middle of fruit.

Abstract

The Effect of Chlorine Concentration and Tomato Packaging Type on Physical and Chemical Changes during Storage in Tomatoes Plants (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.) Tomatoes are one of the important commodities that are vulnerable to contamination by various kinds of microorganisms. The thing that can overcome contamination is by washing and packaging. The chlorine compound that is most often used as a sanitizer is hypochlorite. The type of sanitizer used in this study was sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl). Packaging protects quality and sanitation so that consumers receive tomatoes fresher and quality is guaranteed, packaging should not interfere with the process of heat release from respiration. The type of packaging used in this study was LDPE plastic film and white stretch film (WSF). The design used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors and each combination was repeated three times, so that there were 36 experimental units. The first factor is the treatment of chlorine solution concentrations consisting of four levels: without chlorine solution, concentration of 100 ppm, concentration of 200 ppm, concentration of 300 ppm. The second factor is packaging with 3 levels of without packaging, packed with LDPE plastic film, packed with white stretch film (WSF). The results of this study indicate that the combination of washing using chlorine solution and the best packaging slows the physicochemical changes based on vitamin C variables where the decrease in fruit acid levels is shown in the 200 ppm chlorine concentration and packaged with white stretch film (WSF) treatment.

Abstract

This study have a goals to analyze the opinion of the social media users about ‘’Anjing Kintamani’’ installation artwork, also to know more about the awareness of environment situation now days. The ‘’Anjing Kintamani’’ installation artwork has a message of shape, element of arts and shape of sign, which is analyze by semiotica theory from Pierce. Pierce (2017) explained the meaning of sign is to put forward of something. What is the sign put forward, what are they refers to, and what the sign show on, that he said it as a object. Pierce also do a sign classification that he compare with the ground such as qualisign, sinsign, and legisign. Qualisign is a sign quality. Sinsign is a things actual existence or it’s story. Legisign is a norm that contained by the sign. This theory is used to analyze the response of social media users about ‘’Anjing Kintamani’’ installation artwork, symbolized by sign of the social media user comments to ‘’Anjing Kintamani’’ installation artwork. The study is using descriptive method with qualitative research type, any method of collecting the data is applied to gain accurate datas. With Pierce thought, the result of this study find any response of Instagram users, also Facebook users. Sosial media responses include “likes” and comments on installation artwork are analysed using the semiotic theory of signs.

Abstract

The Ngurah Rai Sports Center (GOR) has many facilities as well as a park for sports and recreations. Not only used for sports, GOR Ngurah Rai is also used for art events and other events. In supporting these activities, it is necessary to pay attention for the maintenance issues as a follow-up activity. Insufficient manpower in maintaining GOR can affect the level of efficiency and effectiveness of work capacity, so this study aims to provide recommendations regarding good maintenance standards so that users are safer and more comfortable in their activities at the Ngurah Rai GOR. This study used observation, interviews, questionnaires and literature studies, focusing on visitor perceptions and maintenance of the park at GOR Ngurah Rai. The type of research is descriptive quantitative with weighting analysis using a Likert scale. This research is based on the perceptions of respondents and the results obtained from the aspects of cleanliness, safety, maintenance, and beauty with an average value of 61.45% so are categorized as good. While the results of interviews with the Office of Education, Youth and Sports as the manager of GOR Ngurah Rai, it is known that the maintenance and management of GOR Ngurah Rai do not have good maintenance standards. Therefore, it is necessary to have recommendations for maintenance standards of GOR Ngurah Rai in order to create good maintenance. Suggestions that can be given are the preparation of standard operating procedures related to the implementation of park maintenance, adding field supervisors, adding and repairing work tools to support the maintenance of GOR Ngurah Rai for the better results.

Abstract

The Effect of Mulch and Liquid Organic Fertilizer on Growth and Production of Red Chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) Chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) is one type of vegetable plant that has high economic value and high demand in Indonesia. Organic mulch treatment and liquid organic fertilizer are among the organic farming techniques could be used to increase the production of red chilli. The aim of the study was to find the type of organic mulch and concentration of liquid organic fertilizer Agrobost to increase the production of red chilli. The research used a randomized group with split plot design in separate plots with two treatment factors. The first factor was mulch treatment consisting of 3 levels, i.e. without mulch, husk charcoal mulch, and saw shaved mulch. The second factor was the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer with 3 levels of treatment, i.e. without giving liquid organic fertilizer, giving liquid organic fertilizer at concentration of 7.5 mL/L of water, and 15 mL/L of water. The results showed that there was no interaction between mulch treatment and liquid organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of large red chilli plants. Giving husk charcoal mulch could increase the relative water content of leaves, number of fruit formed, and suppress weed populations. Liquid organic fertilizer with a concentration of 15 mL/L of water could increase plant height, leaf chlorophyll content, and leaf relative water content.

Abstract

Effect of Several Concentrations of Floralife Preservatives to Hyrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla) Cut Flower Freshness Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla) is one type of flower that can be used as cut flowers but has a short vase life of flower freshness. One way that can be done to prolong flower freshness of cut flowers is by using pulsing solution. This research aims to study the use of cut flower preservatives and to obtain the best concentration of pulsing solution using Floralife preservatives in maintaining the freshness of hydrangeas. This research was conducted from January to March 2022 at the Agronomy and Horticulture Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University. This study used a completely randomized design (RAL) based on single factor of concentration of Floralife preservatives which consisted of distilled water (P0), Floralife concentration of 5,000 ppm (P1), 7,500 ppm (P2), 10,000 ppm (P3) and 12,500 ppm (P4). The results showed that the pulsing solution using Floralife preservative with a concentration of 10,000 ppm (P3) gave the best results, the vase life of hydrangea cut flowers reached 12.8 days (or 8.4 days longer than soaked with distilled water) with the highest total absorbed solution.

Abstract

Effect of Several Concentrations of Chrysal Solution on Vase Life of Cut Hydrangea Flowers (Hydrangea macrophylla) Hydrangea or hydrangea flowers has a unique color and shape of flower buds. However, like other horticultural products, cut flowers have a relatively short vase life (perishable). The decrease in the quality of cut flowers after postharvest is caused by the ongoing respiration process. For the quality of cut flowers to remain fresh for a relatively long time, cut flowers need to be given post-harvest handling so that the quality of cut flowers remains good, which is by using a preservative solution. In short, preservative solutions generally contain sugar, germicide, and citric acid which can help prolong vase life. This study aims to determine the effect of chrysal solution in prolonging the vase life of hydrangea flowers and to determine the best concentration of preservative solution to maintain the vase life of hydrangea flowers (Hydrangea macrophylla). The study used a single factor completely randomized design (CRD) in the form of Chrysal preservative solution with concentrations of 0 ppm (C0), 5000 ppm (C1), 7500 ppm (C2), 10000 ppm (C3), and 12500 ppm (C4). The results showed that the best concentration of Chrysal obtained was with a concentration of 10000 ppm chrysal solution with a long vase life of 11.20 days.
