Abstract

Pesatnya perkembangan teknologi dan penggunaan peralatan elektronik menyebabkan makhluk hidup terkena radiasi medan magnet Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) baik secara sadar atau tidak. Medan magnet ELF adalah radiasi non-pengion dan non-termal. Efek paparan medan ELF mulai dikaji dampaknya terhadap manusia, hewan, dan tumbuhan. Oleh karena itu, penelitian yang menilai efek paparan medan magnet ELF muncul, salah satunya sebagai teknologi pengawetan makanan dan pemrosesan produk fermentasi. Produk pengolahan susu yang sedang diminati oleh masyarakat adalah keju. Bagi orang yang memiliki alergen susu sapi, tidak bisa menikmati keju. Peneliti menginovasi produk keju dari kacang tanah. Pada proses pembuatan keju, sangat dipengaruhi oleh nilai pH dan kadar air agar mendapatkan keju yang terbaik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh besaran paparan medan magnet ELF dalam proses pembuatan cream cheese kacang tanah. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah randomized post-test only control group. Dari hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai pH akan semakin meningkat seiring bertambahnya intensitas paparan medan magnet ELF yang diberikan. Nilai pH paling efektif pada paparan medan magnet 0,1mT dan 0,2mT yaitu 5,37 dan 5,47. Nilai kadar air akan semakin meningkat seiring bertambahnya intensitas paparan medan magnet yang diberikan. Hal ini dikarenakan semakin kecil paparan medan magnet ELF yang diberikan, bakteri Lactobacillus bulgaricu dan Streptococcus lactis dalam proses pembuatan krim keju semakin banyak sehingga nilai pH dan nilai kadar airnya juga semakin kecil.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of ionic silver nanoparticles (ISN) Ag+ as an antibiotic material to inhibit the growth of Salmonella typhimurium. ISN are produced by electrolysis using two AgBr bars as electrodes with distilled water as electrolyte solvents. The effect of electrolysis time on ISN concentration and electrical conductivity was observed with a TDS and EC meter. All ISN samples have been characterized by UV-Vis spectrophotometer, AAS, and PSA. The results showed the concentration of ISN and the electrical conductivity of the solution increased with the length of time of electrolysis. UV-Vis spectrophotometer test results have shown the peak of absorbance at a wavelength of 416.5-417 nm. The concentration test using AAS has shown that the concentration of ISN for TDS 11 ppm, 20 ppm and 29 ppm is 9.8 ppm, 17.6 ppm, and 23.9 ppm respectively. While the size of silver nanoparticles PSA test results have shown (76.8 ± 0.667) nm. The results of the test of the ability of ISN as an antibiotic Salmonella typhimurium showed the formation of a clear zone until the 72th hour with the largest average diameter in the stationary phase area (hours 24-72) was 7.39 ± 0.04 mm for a concentration of 20 ppm.

Abstract

Electrophoresis is one of the experimental methods employed in this study to characterize unique properties of charges of silica nanoparticles (SiO2) by observing their electrophoretic phenomena while they are situated in the electric field. This study is aimed to measure one of the SiO2 properties, namely the charge, using electrophoresis method through the variation of electric fields. The charge dependencies of SiO2 was probed towards five times variation of electric fields 1000, 1250, 1500, 1750, and 2000 V/m in 20 mL of aquades. The displacement of SiO2 could be observed through the light microscope with 160x magnification which the recorded observations then were analyzed by timeline-based software to measure the displacement time of particles during the observation. The results revealed that silica nanoparticles have the kind of positive charges in the colloidal solution. It is caused the magnitude of SiO2 charges is ranged constantly despite the variational effect of electric field in the environment. Light microscope has been optimized in this study to measure the velocity of SiO2 that tends to increase with respect to the magnifying electric fields given in the experiment.
