Abstract

The purpose of this research is to obtain a design and prototype of quadcopter’s frame, which be developed further as a quadcopter that capable of carrying payload of 1.5 kg with flight time of more than 20 minutes. The design begins with estimating the values of Maximum Take-Off Weight (MTOW), required thrust, propeller dimensions, and wheelbase dimensions of the quadcopter. The results show the MTOW of the quadcopter was 5 kg, with each motor requiring of 2.5 kg of thrust per arm. The wheelbase dimension was 790 mm, and the propeller diameter of 17 inches. A wheelbase dimension was utilized to develop three conceptual frame designs for the quadcopter. The three conceptual designs were selected using a decision matrix table. The selected design was calculated for its structural strength by applying a load of 2.5 kg on each motor mounting. The results show the maximum stress value of 21.17 MPa, the maximum deflection of 3.5 mm, and safety factor of 22.44. Then, the prototype of quadcopter’s frame was manufactured. Therefore, the producing of prototype was measured the mass and deflection. Based on the measurements conducted, the quadcopter frame has an actual mass of 595 grams and a maximum deflection of 3.7 mm. The actual deflection value and the actual mass are close to the deflection and mass obtained from the calculation.

Abstract

CNC is a machining process using a computer program, which one of its function that can arrange toolpath used in NC Code. This study aim is to obtain an optimal toolpath on CNC lathe machining process for making a dead centre. The design of toolpath and simulation to know the time of the process of making dead centre use a software mastercam v9. This research method is done on the rough process of making the geometry shape of the workpiece using 3 schemes of the toolpath. longitudinal, surface to parallel and diametrical . The toolpath consists of two absolute and incremental reference methods. This research revealed the processing time of the scheme for the longitudinal absolute of 22 minutes 43 seconds, the surface to parallel scheme of 22 minutes 45 seconds and the diametrical scheme of 33 minutes 41 seconds. In the incremental scheme the timing process of the longitudinal scheme was 21 minutes 36 seconds, the surface to parallel scheme of 22 minutes 4 seconds and the diametrical scheme of 31 minutes 45 seconds. The fastest time in 3 schemes to making the dead centre was the longitudinal sceme, which used incremental method. the most economical cost for making the dead center using longitudinal incremental . Rp.112.635 and the most expensive using diametrical scheme Rp.116.941.Keyword: Absolute, CNC Lathe, Dead Center, Incremental, Simulation, Toolpath

Abstract

This community service activity aims to develop and improve library management using the 5S method and computerised system of books inventory to increase community literacy in Buluh Cina Village, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. The optimal and efficient library, such as book collections, library users, facilities, infrastructure, and library management, can be appropriately managed based on the 5S method and book inventory-based computerisation. The 5S method (Seiri, Seiton, Seito, Seiketsu and Shitsuke) was adopted to organise library rooms by arranging bookshelves, catalogue cabinets, reading tables, and other equipment. By applying the 5S method, a more optimal inventory management system and book borrowing were obtained easily. The existence of this system makes it easier for officers to put back the books that have been read in their original place. Replacing books can be done quickly; the librarian only needs to input the book code, book data and shelf locations for storage displayed. The book was inventory-based computerised, which made it more accessible to detect the number of collections, the presence of books on storage shelves, a monitoring system for book borrowers, and additional collections. Therefore, the management and services of the library are optimal and lead to the visitors' satisfaction.

Abstract

PT. RST, a leading paper factory in Indonesia, prioritizes timely production by optimizing productivity, efficiency, and paper quality. This study assesses the reliability of the Cut Size (CS) paper cutting machine, which is enhanced through the implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) as a management philosophy to ensure high-efficiency operations. To evaluate machine performance, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) measurement is used. From data collected from January to September 2023, an analysis is conducted to improve the performance of the CS machine, which has not met its set target. The average OEE value of 70.9% falls short of the target of 72%. This research aims to improve the performance of the CS machine through the TPM approach, focusing on the Focused Maintenance pillar. Using tools such as Pareto diagram, why-why analysis, fishbone diagram, and the 5W1H method, several sources of problems causing the decrease in OEE value will be identified and addressed.

Abstract

Threshing rice is an important stage in agriculture, especially in rice production. The aim of this paper is to develop designs for multi-functional rice threshing machines using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) approach. The case study was conducted on farmers in a village in Indonesia. Based on observations and survey results conducted with farmers, there was a problem with the rice threshing machine being used less than optimally, so that the time and cost of harvesting became greater. The research was carried out by collecting data by distributing questionnaires directly to 15 respondents. In this research, validity and reliability testing was carried out. The result was in the form of design development, the weight of the rice threshing machine was obtained at 35 kg, which was lighter than previously machine used by farmers. More, the development for new one was resistant to rust and has a fan that functions to separate the rice grains from the grain. Priority of technical characteristics based on weight and dual function of the tool. The dual function of the tool was to thresh and separate the rice with sides and empty ones. Furthermore, the development of rice threshing machine can tailored to the consumers needs.

Abstract

A performance measurement framework for a company that adopted lean manufacturing is needed to measure their achievement in the implementation of lean manufacturing system.A comprehensive design of the performance measurement framework requires an understanding of all the elements including performance of perspectives and key indicators of measurements, anddecision support methods such asFuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP).The comparison of original AHP and FAHP methods in term of decision making for lean manufacturing performance measurement system was performed in this paper. A benchmarking to compute performance based on weight between FAHP and AHP was done as a case study in automotive company. The result of the weight values of AHP and FAHP methods indicatedalmost similar among performances of lean perspectives and indicators for the company’s case study.

Abstract

The tool path optimization is an important issue to get a low cost of manufacture parts using the CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines. Programming to produce an optimum tool path for CNC machines is a key performance indicator for obtaining minimized machining time and good surface quality of parts. This paper purposes to optimized the CNC tool path generation programming and analyze the cost of manufacturing process of master cylinder piston of motorcycle brake. A Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software was used to simulate an optimal tool path, which finding an efficient solution to shorten the cutting tool path generation. The simulation was performed on a roughing surface process of the work piece using 3 tool path schemes: longitudinal, diametrical and surface to parallel. The each scheme employed tool-path generation based on absolute and incremental reference methods of a CNC lathe machine. An analysis of simulation tool path time for each scheme and machining cost was investigated to get optimum and economies machining process. Hence, it was compared to actual time of machining process on CNC lathe in term of the manufacturing cost machining. The optimal processing time and the most economical cost for making a master cylinder piston of motorcycle brake was a parallel to surface scheme. Therefore, an optimization of tool path generation can minimize machining lead time, which lead to lowest cost of manufacturing parts, with keep maintain product quality.
