Abstract

Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita segitiga menurut tahapan Kastolan. Penelitian ini melibatkan siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 6 Tondano yang berjumlah 18 orang kemudian dipilih 6 orang siswa sebagai subjek penelitian, pengambilan subjek penelitian dilakukan secara acak menggunakan 3 kategori siswa yaitu tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu tes, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Dan teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan menarik kesimpulan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian subjek melakukan kesalahan konseptual berupa: subjek tidak menuliskan rumus atau konsep. Subjek menuliskan rumus atau konsep, namun salah. Subjek menuliskan rumus atau konsep, namun tidak lengkap tapi mengarah. Kesalahan prosedural berupa: subjek tidak menuliskan langkah-langkah. Subjek menuliskan langkah-langkah, namun salah. Abstract

This article discusses the analysis of students errors in solving mathematical essay questions on quadratic equations for 10th-grade high school students. The subjects of this research were 10 students from class XB at SMA Negeri 2 Tondano. The analysis of students errors based on Newman’s procedure. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study. The instruments used in this research were written tests consisting of 5 questions and interviews with 4 representative students. The results of this study showed that there were errors in understanding the problem by 44%, errors in transformation by 42%, errors in process skil by 48%, and errors in writing finel answers by 14%.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the mathematical problem-solving ability of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Bitung. This study is qualitative. The research methodology includes the planning stage, the implementation stage, and the data analysis stage. The selection of research volunteers was carried out by grouping them into three ability categories: high, medium, and low. Information on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities was obtained through exam results and interviews. The verification of the validity of the data used was technical triangulation. The findings of this study indicate that high-ability students are comprehensively involved in the problem-solving stages described by Polya, namely by effectively executing the process of understanding the problem, formulating the plan, implementing the plan, and verifying it. Medium-ability students did not complete the problem-solving stages described by Polya, because they were only able to understand the problem and verify the solution. Low-ability students did not complete the problem-solving stages described by Polya, especially not being able to understand the problem, not being able to formulate a plan, being able to execute the plan, and not being able to verify the solution.
