Abstract

The Kaili tribe is a tribe with a very distinctive and well-known culinary heritage in Indonesia, one of which is Kaledo (donggala soft leg). The large number of restaurants and restaurants that provide Kaledo menus raises problems, namely the lack of utilization of beef bones from Kaledo waste, causing environmental issues. The community does not know much about the types of minerals contained in the beef bones. Among them are the minerals contained in beef bones, namely phosphorus and magnesium. This study aims to determine the levels of phosphorus and magnesium in beef bones from Kaledo waste taken randomly from Kaledo restaurants in Palu City. Determination of phosphorus and magnesium levels in beef bones from Kaledo waste using a Uv-Vis spectrophotometer and an atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). The results showed that the analysis of the phosphorus content of beef bones from Kaledo waste obtained 95.125 mg / 100 g, and the magnesium content was 102.9 mg / 100 g. The results of this study are expected to be a source of information about the levels of phosphorus and magnesium contained in beef bones from Kaledo waste and can be used further as a substance in the utilization of beef bones from Kaledo waste.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan (a) Untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar kelas yang diajarkan dengan media animasi powtoon dan media konvensional. (b) Untuk mengetahui pengaruh interaksi antara media animasi powtoon terhadap hasil belajar jika ditinjau dari minat belajar. (c) Untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar kelas yang diajarkan dengan media animasi powtoon dan media pembelajaran konvensional untuk kelas peserta didik yang memiliki minat belajar tinggi. (d) Untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar kelas yang diajarkan dengan media animasi powtoon dan media konvensional untuk kelas yang memiliki minat belajar rendah. Jenis penelitian yaitu Quasi Experimental dengan menggunakan Treatment by level design. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 38 peserta didik. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan Angket Minat dan Tes Hasil Belajar. Analisis data menggunakan Analisis Varians-2 Arah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (a) Hasil belajar kelas yang diajarkan dengan media animasi powtoon lebih tinggi dari kelas yang diajarkan media konvensional. (b) Terdapat pengaruh interaksi antara media pembelajaran dan minat belajar terhadap hasil belajar. (c) Untuk kelas yang memiliki minat belajar tinggi, hasil belajar kelas yang diajarkan dengan media animasi powtoon lebih tinggi dari kelas yang diajarkan dengan media konvensional. (d) Untuk kelas yang memiliki minat belajar rendah, hasil belajar kelas yang diajarkan dengan media animasi powtoon lebih tinggi dari media konvensional. The study was conducted to (1) Find the differences of class using powtoon as media and class using conventional media. (2) Find the impact of using powtoon as media on student’s final grade from students learning interest point of view. (3) Find out the differences of final grade from students with high learning interest using powtoon and conventional media. (4) Find out the differences of student’s grades with low learning interest using Powtoon and conventional media. The study was conducted with quantitative approach and Quasi Experimental utilizing treatment by level design. The samples are 38 students. Data was collected by questionnaires and test’s grade. We used Two Way Analysis of Variance. Results show that: (1) The grade of class that apply powtoon was higher than the class using conventional media. (2) We found the existence of learning media (powtoon) impact on student’s learning interest. (3) Group of students with high learning interest using powtoon as media had higher grade compared to group using conventional media. (4) Group of students with low learning interest using powtoon as. media had higher grade compared to group with low learning interest using conventional media.

Abstract

This study aims to identify learning difficulties learning experienced by students on the subject thermochemistry in class XI IPA SMA Negeri 8 Palu during the Covid-19 pandemic for the 2021 / 2022 school year. The instruments used in this study are thermochemistry tests, questionnaires, and interviews. The result showed students’ difficulties in the subject thermochemistry in class XI IPA was 60 %, the highest difficulty of students is found in the thermochemistry test of calculating the heat of the type of compound, calculating enthalpy changes, and formulating steps and hypotheses of an experiment. The difficulty is indicated by the low level of student comprehension of 54 %, medium 43 %, and high 3 % with an average of 30%. Furthermore, the difficulty of students in participating in chemistry learning during the Covid-19 pandemic is technical difficulties with a percentage of 65.92 %, difficulties in implementing learning with a percentage 0f 65.44 %, and external difficulties (environment and parents) with a percentage of 52.92 %. based on these results, the learning difficulties experienced by students during chemistry learning thermochemistry subjects during the Covid-19 pandemic include students often being constrained by signals and quotas to access materials on the internet and do not have student handbooks to study at home, difficulty understanding chemistry concepts because teacher explanations are elusive, students are not active in participating in learning because chemistry learning during the pandemic is not interesting, can’t afford chemistry books and quotas also parents don’t provide motivation and students are often lazy to do assignments because no one helps with doing. The result of this study indicates that the level of students' difficulties learning about thermochemistry is a quite high category with a low level of student ability and students agree that it is difficult to study chemistry during the pandemic Covid-19.

Abstract

The study aims to determine the effects of temperature, leaching time, and the acid chloride-acid sulphate mixture ratio on nickel extraction and to identify the optimal extraction conditions for nickel laterite using the Taguchi method. Samples of laterite used come from the local District of Bahodopi, District of Morowali, Province of Central Sulawesi. Quantitative analysis using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) with the variables under study included temperature with a condition level of 30 oC, 60 oC, and 90 oC, a leaching time of 3 hours, 6 hours, and 12 hours, and a mixture ratio of 0.5 M and H2SO4 0.5 M 1: 1, 1: 2, and 2: 1. Results of the study showed the condition of optimum is obtained which is at a temperature of 90 oC, while leaching ratio of 6 hours and mixture of acid 1: 2 with average absorbance optimum obtained are 0.736, the average concentration optimum of 8.085 ppm and the recovery value of 2.32 %.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the adsorption of iron ions by biochar produced from palm nut shells and palm fruit bunches. The method used in this study was a laboratory experiment employing palm nut shell biochar and palm fruit bunch biochar as adsorbents for Fe ions. The results showed that the optimum contact time for palm nut shell biochar was 150 minutes, with an iron ion adsorption percentage of 99.87%. In contrast, for palm fruit cluster biochar, the optimum contact time was 120 minutes, with an iron ion adsorption percentage of 99.83%. The optimal adsorption of iron ions by areca nut shell biochar occurred at a dose of 20 mg, with an adsorption percentage of 99.70%. In contrast, for areca fruit bunch biochar, it occurred at a dose of 40 mg, with an adsorption percentage of 99.80%. The optimal concentration obtained for both biochar types was the same, namely 60 ppm, with an iron ion adsorption percentage of 99.5% for areca nut shells and 98.85% for areca fruit bunches. The maximum adsorption capacity of areca nut shell biochar was 121.9512 mg/g, and that of areca fruit cluster biochar was 58.1395 mg/g, calculated using the Langmuir isotherm equation. Meanwhile, the maximum adsorption capacity of palm shell biochar was 123.0915 mg/g, and that of palm fruit bunches was 62.1871 mg/g using the Freundlich isotherm equation.

Abstract

Mature coconut and rice washing water contain nitrogen and potassium, which are helpful for plants. This study aims to determine the levels of nitrogen and potassium in liquid organic fertilizer from a mixture of mature coconut water and rice washing water. Nitrogen content was analyzed using the Kjeldahl method. Potassium levels were analyzed using a flame photometer. The results indicated that the best nitrogen and potassium levels were obtained in liquid organic fertilizer with a mixture ratio 50:50, namely N 1.26% and K 1.27%. The highest nitrogen content was obtained in liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) with a mixture ratio of 25:75, 1.40%, and the highest potassium content was obtained in liquid organic fertilizer with a mixture ratio of 50:50, 1.27%. When mixed, the increase in nitrogen and potassium levels was caused by the bacteria in the liquid organic fertilizer, which breaks down protein during digestion.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on student learning outcomes in Vocational Basics subjects in grade X MPLB students at SMK Negeri 1 Bitung. The background of this study is based on the students' tendency to be passive in the learning process and their low critical thinking and problem-solving skills, due to the continued dominance of conventional learning methods in the classroom. Based on interviews with homeroom teachers, it was discovered that students were not accustomed to actively engaging in discussions and problem-solving. This study was a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent control group design. The sample consisted of two classes: an experimental class taught using the PBL model and a control class taught using the conventional model. The research instruments consisted of 15 multiple-choice pre-test and post-test items. Data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis tests (t-test and Mann-Whitney U). The results showed a significant difference between student learning outcomes in the experimental and control classes. Students who participate in PBL learning achieve higher learning outcomes than those taught conventionally. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning model has a positive effect on student learning outcomes in Vocational Basics.
