Abstract

When carrying out good buying and selling, it should be based on likes and mutual approval in order to receive blessings from Islamic teachings. Farmers’ income is generally uncertain, it can be once a month or even months and there is still uncertainty about the potential for losses and there are still times when they have to wait for a long time until the harvest season arrives. The impact of buying and selling agricultural produce transactions using a contract system on farmers’ income. Islamic Business Ethics in Sales and Purchase Transactions of Agricultural Produce using a Wholesale System in Tanjung Kenongo Village. In this research, the researcher used a descriptive qualitative approach using a type of field research, namely research in the field or field research. In collecting data in this research, the data used came from direct interviews with related sources. In this contract system, of course, farmers feel a little disadvantaged because they cannot make large profits considering that fertilizer prices are expensive, accommodation costs such as expensive farm laborers, and the price of basic necessities increase so that farmers cannot make a lot of profit, their income decreases a lot. The existence of this contract system also has a positive value, namely by helping farmers who experience difficulties when selling their commodities and helping farmers not to experience large losses. The process of the contract system is said to violate Islamic business ethics because it clearly violates the rules by taking advantage of the difficulties experienced by them. When farmers experience difficulties, although not everyone in this contract process takes advantage of the difficulties, there are several benefits that arise from the existence of this contract system, such as helping farmers not to experience losses.

Abstract

Based on the latest data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2023, around 60.12% of the Indonesian workforce works in the informal sector, indicating the dominance of this sector in the national economy. However, in urban areas, informal sector economic activities, especially street vendors (PKL), often face various challenges that require structured solutions. One of the main problems street vendors face in Bantul Regency is limited business capital, which causes them to be trapped in loan shark loans that are not per Sharia principles. This study aims to analyze the role of the Indonesian Street Vendors Association of Struggle (APKLI-P) in empowering street vendors in Bantul Regency from a sharia economic perspective. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method at the DPD APKLI-P Bantul Regency. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with 20 street vendor members, and documentation of empowerment programs carried out by APKLI-P. The data obtained were analyzed using source triangulation to ensure the validity of the research results. The findings show that APKLI-P has implemented various empowerment programs, such as developing culinary areas, providing business opportunities through local events, managing multi-purpose cooperatives, and providing halal certification. The impact of this program is measured through increased income, access to new business opportunities, and significant improvements in the welfare of street vendors. This study also highlights how the application of Islamic economic principles by APKLI-P has succeeded in strengthening social solidarity and creating equality and justice in society. However, this study has limitations in terms of generalizing the findings to other regions, and further research is recommended to test the effectiveness of this empowerment model in different regional contexts.

Abstract

Economic development is often misinterpreted as merely financial growth and infrastructure expansion. However, the real essence of development lies in a multidimensional approach that incorporates social, cultural, and spiritual aspects, particularly within an Islamic context. This study explores the acculturation of Mataraman cultural traditions with Islamic values, focusing on Bersih Desa and Nyadran practices in Mataraman, Indonesia. Employing an ethnographic approach, data were gathered through observations and interviews with local stakeholders. The study examines how these traditions, initially influenced by Hinduism, have evolved to integrate Islamic teachings, thereby fostering community welfare, environmental stewardship, and social harmony. Results reveal that these practices align with Islamic principles of self-development, collective human prosperity, and the earth's stewardship. They demonstrate that local wisdom, when harmonized with religious values, contributes significantly to economic growth, social cohesion, and sustainable development. The findings underscore the importance of cultural preservation and propose that these traditions be promoted as cultural tourism assets, which could further enhance local economies. Future research is recommended to analyze the broader implications of Mataraman wisdom within the maqashid al-shariah framework.
