Abstract

This research aims to investigate the influence of Project-Based Learning (PjBL)- Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) on Students' Creative Thinking Skills. The research method was quasi-experiment using a nonequivalent control group design. Samples were taken using purposive sampling technique from two of 11th-grade science classes as an experimental and a control groups. This study used a test instrument of creative thinking skills. Research data were analyzed using SPSS and Microsoft Excel software. Hypothetical test results were assessed using independent sample t-test, obtained sig value (2-tailed) = 0.01 indicating sig value < 0.05. According to statistical analysis, there is a significant difference between the control class and the experiment class. The n-gain value was obtained with a score of 0.59 (a medium category). This result shows that the application of PJBL-STEM can improve students' creative thinking skills in the static fluid topic (Pascal law).

Abstract

This study carried out on the effect of precursor concentration and annealed substrate temperature on the crystal structure, electronic and optical properties of ZnO thin film. An aqueous solution of Acid Nitrite was used as precursors and its concentration was varied from 0.1 M to 0.4 M. The ZnO thin film was deposited on the glass substrate by Spray Pyrolysis Deposition and annealed with different temperature from 300 oC to 600 oC. The crystal structure, electronic and optical properties were investigated by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and UV-Spectrometer. XRD result showed that all thin films have amorphous hexagonal wurtzite crystalline. Particle sizes ranging from 21.83 to 43.67 nm were calculated through Debye-Scherer Method. It showed that the concentration of the precursor had slightly impact on the particle size. Meanwhile, the increase in particle size with increasing annealed temperature is found to be gradual. The average transparent of all thin film was more than 80%. The bandgap of the ZnO thin films was estimated by Tauc Plot Relation. It showed that the bandgap values were increased with the increasing of precursor concentration due to Burstein-Moss Effect. In addition, the decrease in band gap values was found with increasing annealed temperature. Our results demonstrated that the varying precursor concentration and annealed substrate temperature can enhance the structure, electronic and the optical properties of ZnO thin films.

Abstract

Tin Sulfide (SnS) thin films were fabricated using vacuum evaporation techniques under a pressure of approximately 2×10⁻⁵ mbar. Cleaned microscope glass substrates were utilized, with a substrate temperature maintained at 300 K. The deposition of the SnS thin films was conducted by placing spacers between the substrate and the source at distances of 10 cm, 15 cm, and 25 cm. The study of SnS thin films included X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and energy dispersive analysis X-ray (EDX). The XRD patterns of the SnS thin films revealed good crystallization and confirmed the presence of an orthorhombic crystal structure with lattice parameters for sample 1 (10 cm spacer): a = 4.308 Å, b = 11.142 Å, c = 4.132 Å; sample 2 (15 cm spacer): a = 4.305 Å, b = 11.101 Å, c = 4.217 Å; and sample 3 (25 cm spacer): a = 4.081 Å, b = 11.135 Å, c = 4.292 Å. The preferred orientation was along the (0 4 0) planes for all films. Lattice parameters, grain size, and microstrain in the films were calculated from XRD patterns and correlated with the substrate spacer. Grain size distributions were derived from SEM micrographs, revealing a grain size of approximately 0.5 μm. EDX analysis indicated the chemical composition of the sample, with elements Sn = 37.86% and S = 13.58%.

Abstract

Fe3O4 coated with PEG has been successfully synthesized using co-precipitation method to reduce RhB. From the XRD results, it can be seen that all samples are Fe3O4 with the highest Miller index at (311). The crystallinity of Fe3O4 was maintained even though PEG was added. From the SEM-TEM analysis, it can be seen that the two samples have a uniform size distribution. Then, PEG can increase the dispersibility of the sample. From the FTIR analysis it was confirmed that there was PEG content in Fe3O4. From the results of the VSM analysis, it was confirmed that the sample has nearly superparamagnetic properties with a small  value. Then, Fe3O4 and Fe3O4/PEG were used to remove RhB in water by magnetic separation process. From the results of the study, it was obtained that the optimum absorption occurred in several parameters, namely the initial concentration of RhB at 100 mg/mL, with a pH of 6, the dose of Fe3O4/PEG at 0.8 g/L and a contact time of 40 minutes at room temperature. At this optimum condition, the absorption has a color removal of 31.1%.
