Abstract

This study goal is understanding people movement development that articulated through organization construction. Farmer as social entity faced with structural pressure that obstruct the social transformation movement. According to the facing problems, these are natural when approach that developed by farmer organization is the community development strategy. Production center oriented for the latest 30 years have become the development ideology. Critic toward this paradigm as described above brought in to the community development (CD) approach. Unfortunately CD produce dependence with the elite structure and program, elite domination and effort to integrating farmer to high capital condition. Besides that problem, CD preserve community stability and disappear social change and social movement. Looking to this fact, farmer organization that prepared as case study develop a new paradigm for the community development which more intense to the people center development. This effort can be held with self govern building and farmer authority. Practically; choosing paradigm for people center development strategy. Differentiation between early CD with the CD as the strategy that will be directed to the people center development lie on the result. CD as the strategy is not resulting dependence otherwise achieving access and control to the resources. Those explanation above really want to describe that farmer achieving specific ways to reach organization goals. Paradigm resistance have been doing with the hidden tactic. Concept that founded in this research is disguised resistance. Disguised resistance indicated hidden strategy that used to reach organization agenda. Disguised resistance is the alliance model between maintaining social existence and the effort to the social deconstruction. Resistance have been doing bellow the government development propaganda and doing the redefinition to those propaganda in to the paradigm ways more oriented to the people center oriented. Abstract

ABSTRACTThe development of carbon-based society is one of the contemporary issues that offers a form of environmental and human collaboration respirokal also functional in controlling the risks of climate change. However, its not easy to introduce the issue of carbon to the livelihood systems of rural communities. In it, found a variety of problems, from technical aspects to non-technical. This study was constructed to answer these issues in the wider framework to mitigate climate change by carbon credits in two different locations, namely in the Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY) and Jambi. For the case of DIY, carbon trading scheme, which is based on the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) still pose a constraint on the aspect of “legalization” and “market”. Besides the licensing process and the disharmony between institutions vertically led to increasingly complex problems. As for the case in Jambi Province, the forest is seriously threatened by forest fires and property issues (tragedy of the common), the lack of public knowledge about the functioning of Forest Park (TAHURA) causes some people consider the forest and the free open access to be entered. In another side, the TAHURA is one potential area that has a large enough carbon stocks as the area of climate change mitigation. This research is ultimately going to map out the problems and calculate the economic contribution obtained by the public, as well as changes in the structure of living in two locations with two carbon initiatives of community-based schemes are different. Keywords: mitigation of climate change, carbon emissions, the development of community-based carbon, a living structure, sociology of rural livingABSTRAKPengembangan karbon berbasis masyarakat merupakan salah satu isu kontemporeryang menawarkan bentuk kolaborasi manusia dan lingkungan yang respirokal juga fungsional dalam upaya pengendalian resiko perubahan iklim.

Abstract

Coal mining policies and activities in addition to having a positive impact on state income, job creation and business, also have a negative impact on ecosystems and communities in the mining area. The study was conducted in two mining communities in South Kalimantan using an emic and etic approach to explore community resilience and food insecurity due to ecological changes and the impact of mining policies and activities. Coal mining policies and activities in South Kalimantan causes catastrophic floods, land damage, and crop failure on lowland rice fields that have an impact on potential food insecurity at the household and community level. The pattern of community resilience in the two communities is in the form of social movements as a form of social adaptation, and agricultural land recovery and changing agricultural commodities as a form of ecological adaptation. The process of community resilience in the two communities is at the level of recovery towards a stable community condition, not yet at the transformation stage. Community capability is the most influential factor on the degree of community resilience so that the handling of food insecurity based on community resilience needs to be done by developing strategies to increase community capability.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the level of social, economic, and ecological progress of the Oil Palm Village communities and compare the level of social, economic, and ecological progress between the Oil Palm Village and Non-Oil Palm Village communities. Indonesia is one of the major palm oil-producing countries in the world. Palm oil has brought economic benefits nationally and also to local communities. However, in its development, there has been a controversy surrounding the palm oil commodity, namely in the case of Indonesian palm oil which is related to the issues of deforestation and territorialization due to the economic interests of palm oil versus the existence of forest areas. This study used a Quantitative Approach with Secondary Data Methods from primary sources (Ministry of Village, Development of Disadvantage Region, and Transmigration, BPS, and Directorate General of Plantation) with the village communities as the unit of analysis. As many as 524 village communities were selected from the population of Oil Palm Villages and Non-Oil Palm Villages in eight provinces of Indonesia’s oil palm centers with a combination of Purposive Multistage Sampling and Propensity Score Matching methods. Descriptive analysis, comparative analysis, analysis of the difference in progress using the Difference in Difference (DID) model, and the binary logistic regression method were carried out in this study. The results of the study revealed the facts that there has been an increase in social, economic, and ecological progress in various Oil Palm Village communities. The level of social, economic, and ecological progress of Oil Palm Village communities is higher than that of Non-Oil Palm Village communities. These facts indicate that the community sustainability level of the Oil Palm Village communities is superior to that of the Non-Oil Palm Village communities.
