Abstract

AbstrakSalah satu kebutuhan manusia adalah berupa energi yang digunakan untuk kebutuhan sehari-harinya. Pada saat ini sumber energi semakin menipis. Maka dari itu diperlukan suatu energi alternatif baru dalam rangka untuk menunjang ketersediaan minyak di Indonesia. Salah satu energi alternatif yang dapat dimanfaatkan yaitu biodisel. Pada penelitian ini digunakan miroalga jenis Skeletonema costatum dengan alat ultrasonic elmasonic sebagai sonikator untuk membantu proses ekstraksi lebih cepat. Digunakan variabel suhu yang antara lain sebesar 50°C , 60°C, 70°C, 80°C dan variabel lama ekstraksi yaitu 60 menit, 120 menit, 180 menit dan menggunakan pelarut hekana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semakin lama waktu ekstraksi dan semakin besar suhu ekstraksi menunjukkan peningkatan pada minyak mikroalga  yang dihasilakan. Minyak mikroalga tertinggi dihasilkan pada perlakuan 70 OC dan 180 menit yaitu sebesar 18,44%. Dari hasil analisa GCMS terdapat puncak yang muncul sebanyak 10, dan yang terdapat kandungan asam lemak dalam minyak alga, yaitu hexadecanoic acid yang mempunyai waktu retensi pada 58,315 menit dengan kadar 74,48%.

Abstract

The initiation of the development of Ngesrepbalong Village as a green economy-based avocado center is supported by the village's regional conditions. A green economy needs to be implemented because Ngesrepbalong is known to be the only village in Kendal Regency that has the potential for landslides. Landslide mitigation can be done by increasing the population of deep-rooted, compact, and massive woody trees such as avocados so that water can be retained and the soil becomes stable. The priority problems of the Gunungsari farmer partners in Ngesrepbalong Village include management and production aspects of preparing their area as an avocado center area. Farmer group institutions have yet to be available, and most avocados are not superior varieties. This activity aims to initiate Ngesrepbalong as a green economy-based avocado center. Activities will occur in May-November 2023 through socialization, training and mentoring, application of technology and mentoring, monitoring and evaluation, and sustainability program. The institution of superior avocado farmers was realized by forming the "Gunung Berkah" avocado farmer group. Facilities and infrastructure such as seedling houses, grafting knives, and others were used to propagate 300 seedlings, and top working on 15 adult avocado trees. The superior variety of trees used for grafting and TW is Diane avocado. Increased empowerment of farmer partners is measured after program implementation. The results of measuring the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective/enthusiasm aspects via questionnaires showed the highest to lowest increases in the affective/enthusiasm, cognitive, and psychomotor aspects, respectively. The availability of grafting and TW facilities and infrastructure, as well as increasing farmers' abilities in these three aspects, is a manifestation of the achievements of the initiation of Ngesrepbalong Village to become a superior avocado center based on a green economy.Inisiasi pengembangan Desa Ngesrepbalong sebagai sentra alpukat berbasis green economy didukung kondisi kewilayahan desa. Green economy perlu diterapkan karena Ngesrepbalong diketahui sebagai satu-satunya desa di Kabupaten Kendal yang berpotensi longsor. Mitigasi longsor dapat dilakukan melalui peningkatan populasi pohon berkayu berakar dalam, kompak, dan masif seperti alpukat sehingga air dapat ditahan dan tanah menjadi stabil. Permasalahan prioritas mitra petani Dusun Gunungsari di Desa Ngesrepbalong meliputi aspek manajemen dan produksi dalam rangka menyiapkan wilayahnya sebagai kawasan sentra alpukat. Kelembagaan kelompok tani belum tersedia dan sebagaian besar alpukat bukan varietas unggul. Tujuan kegiatan ini menginisiasi Ngesrepbalong sebagai sentra alpukat berbasis green economy. Kegiatan berlangsung Mei-November 2023 melalui tahapan sosialisasi, pelatihan dan pendampingan, penerapan teknolog dan pendampingan, monitoring dan evaluasi, serta keberlanjutan program. Kelembagaan petani alpukat unggul direalisasikan melalui pembentukan kelompok tani alpukat “Gunung Berkah”. Sarana dan prasarana seperti rumah bibit, pisau grafting dan lainnya digunakan dalam perbanyakan grafting sebanyak 300 bibit, dan top working pada 15 pohon alpukat dewasa. Entres varietas unggul yang digunakan untuk grafting dan TW tersebut adalah alpukat Diane. Peningkatan keberdayaan mitra petani diukur sesudah pelaksanaan program.  Hasil pengukuran aspek kognitif, psikomotor, dan afektif/antusiame melalui kuesioner menunjukkan peningkatan tertinggi hingga terendah berturut-turut adalah aspek afektif/antusiame, kognitif, dan psikomotor. Ketersediaan sarana dan prasarana grafting dan TW serta peningkatan kemampuan petani pada ketiga aspek tersebut  merupakan wujud capaian inisiasi Desa Ngesrepbalong menjadi sentra alpukat unggul berbasis green economy.

Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memanfaatkan biochar sebagai media tanam untuk kelompok remaja RW 7 di Kelurahan Sendangmulyo sebagai upaya penguatan karakter jiwa konservasi bagi generasi muda. Biochar merupakan hasil pirolisis dari limbah biomassa, dan dapat meningkatkan kualitas tanah serta memperbaiki kondisi lingkungan. Dalam program ini, kelompok remaja akan dilibatkan dalam kegiatan bercocok tanam dengan menggunakan biochar sebagai media tanam. Selain itu, mereka juga akan diberikan edukasi mengenai pentingnya konservasi dan peran generasi muda dalam melestarikan lingkungan. Diharapkan melalui program ini, kelompok remaja dapat mengembangkan karakter jiwa konservasi serta memiliki kepedulian terhadap lingkungan sekitar. Kegiatan pengabdian ini juga diharapkan dapat memberikan manfaat dan inspirasi bagi petani dan masyarakat sekitar untuk mengadopsi praktik pertanian yang ramah lingkungan dan berkelanjutan serta meningkatkan kesejahteraan mereka secara ekonomi.

Abstract

Kaligarang River is the largest river in the Semarang, which looks clear but actually containing Mn metal above the permitted threshold. Excessive presence of Mn metal can cause problems for human being inside the brain (Parkinson's syndrome), liver, and kidneys. The aim of the study was to analyze the effect of the adsorbent dose and the pH of the solution containing Mn metal. The river water sample was tested at Tirta Moedal PDAM, Semarang; contaminated 1.075 mg/L heavy metal Mn. Based on Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001, the maximum allowable concentration of Mn in water is 0.1 mg/L. Adsorption with activated carbon is an effective method in processing Mn metal pollution. Activated carbon formed as powder from coconut shell size of 500 microns. The adsorption process was with a contact time of 90 minutes and a stirring speed of 210 rpm. The pH variables were pH 3, 7, and 12 and the adsorbent dose was 1, 5, 10 and 15 g /L. The adsorption results showed that the optimum conditions of the adsorption process occurred at pH 3 with an adsorbent dose of 15 g / L with percent absorption of Mn metal of 87.18%. Abstract

Durian peel waste in Ervin Duren, Jepara, has not been optimally utilized, despite its large amount and potential to pollute the environment. Therefore, this community service activity was conducted to empower local MSMEs through training in making candles from durian peel waste and business feasibility studies. The primary objective of this activity was to enhance product innovation skills and managerial capabilities of small business owners in the village. The method used in this activity involved hands-on training and group discussions to deepen participants' understanding of waste processing and business planning. The results show that participants successfully processed durian peel waste into quality candles, with approximately 75% of participants starting production. Additionally, participants’ understanding of business feasibility aspects significantly improved, particularly in market analysis and financial planning. This activity positively impacted the local economy while encouraging waste reduction in the environment. Overall, this community service demonstrated that product innovation and business management training can increase the competitiveness of local MSMEs and provide sustainable solutions for environmental issues.

Abstract

Sustainable and economical management of aquaculture water is a significant challenge in the fisheries industry. This study aims to convert End-of-Life (EoL) Reverse Osmosis (RO) membranes into Ultrafiltration (UF) membranes using a potassium permanganate (KMnO4) solution as an oxidizing agent to enhance the efficiency of aquaculture water filtration. The conversion process involves immersing the used RO membranes in a 4,5% w/v KMnO4 solution for 3 days at room temperature. Prior to conversion, the membranes were cleaned using a 0,1% w/v Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS) solution and 0,05 M Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid (EDTA) to remove organic and inorganic contaminants. The results showed an increase in water flux from 20 L/m²•h to 50 L/m²•h after conversion. The analysis of aquaculture water quality after filtration using the converted UF membranes showed a significant reduction in Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) from 5,547 mg/L to 3,817 mg/L, representing 31,2% reduction, and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) from 29,91 mg/L to 24,22 mg/L, representing 19% reduction. The membranes were highly effective in removing coliforms, achieving a 100% reduction from 180 MPN/100mL to 0 MPN/100mL. The values of DO and TDS decreased by only about 2%, salinity values remained unchanged, while total ammonia increased. The conversion process increases efficiency filtration, reduces operational costs, and decreases membrane waste.

Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia are the largest business units that support the country's economy. In Mangunharjo District, Tugu District, Semarang City, there are several groups of MSMEs which are mainly engaged in the food processing industry. However, MSME owners face various challenges, such as a lack of marketing methods. As a result, many MSMEs only produce food products when there is an order and rely on consignment at the nearest shop for a limited period of time. This problem requires a solution that can overcome the concerns of MSME owners, one of which is by changing marketing methods. Currently, MSMEs in the regions only rely on traditional marketing methods. By holding training activities for the public about the benefits of digital marketing, it is hoped that MSME owners can change their perspective and adopt more modern marketing methods. Through evaluations carried out after training, the MSME group has started to utilize digital platforms to market their products. The results show that MSMEs are starting to get used to digital marketing to increase sales value.
