Abstract

Background: Autism is characterized by a total withdrawal from the outside world and a complete lack of interaction with the outside world. It is a complex developmental disorder affecting behavior, resulting in deficits in communication skills, social relationships, and emotional relationships with others. Symptoms are evident before the child is three years old. Autism has been increasingly reported in recent years. However, in Indonesia, some children are still diagnosed with autism late.Purpose: This study aimed to determine factors influencing the early detection of autism. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional correlation study. The study population was parents of children with autism registered at the Bali Province Special Needs School (SLB), with a sample size of 81. Data analysis used univariate analysis (percentages and frequencies) and bivariate analysis (Chi-square test). Results: The study showed that the majority of respondents had primary/secondary education (66.7%), the majority were unemployed (55.6%), the majority had conducted regular and proper child development monitoring (82.7%), and the majority of children had received early detection for autism (53.1%). The correlation test results showed a relationship between parental education (p = 0.028), parental occupation (p = 0.028), and the number of children (p = 0.011) with early detection of autism in children. Conclusion: ore than half of the children had received early detection for autism. Early detection needs to be further enhanced through effective education about the importance of early detection for children.

Abstract

Cataract is the leading cause of blindness worldwide, requiring surgery and appropriate patient and family education to ensure proper operative care. This literature review aimed to identify health education on operative cataract care. The type of this study is a scoping review using the PubMed database, ScienceDirect, and other sources that were published in the last 10 years (2015-2024). The PICO model (P: patients and families; I: audiovisual, booklets, leaflets, and others; C: standard care or education; O: knowledge and skills in cataract operative care) was used. The keywords used to search for articles are cataract surgery AND video OR audiovisual OR booklets OR leaflets. The initial search results for articles, until included, are described in the PRISMA diagram. The results of the article search from PubMed obtained 406 articles, and from ScienceDirect 258 articles; other sources 15 articles, so the total number of articles obtained was 679 articles. Records screened 664 articles, reports sought for retrieval 247 articles, and reports assessed for eligibility 60 articles. For articles from sources, the report assessed for eligibility was three articles. Furthermore, the total studies included in the review were 15 articles. The educational interventions (video-based, telephone, social media, and web) were effective in increasing patient knowledge. However, their comparative effectiveness is unknown. Keywords: Cataract Operative Care, Health Education, Knowledge and Skills, Patient and Family

Abstract

Background: The digital era has accelerated the digitalization of organizational processes, including leadership communication. The emergence of digital leadership requires leaders to adapt their communication and leadership styles to dynamic, technology-mediated work environments. In hospital settings, effective digital leadership communication is essential to support coordination, decision-making, and quality nursing care. Purpose: This study aimed to identify determinants associated with the digitalization of leadership communication in hospitals. Methods: A cross-sectional study design was employed involving 131 nurses recruited through purposive sampling based on predefined inclusion criteria. Data were collected using structured questionnaires measuring leadership style, communication style, leadership skills, leader enthusiasm, and the implementation of digital leadership communication. Statistical analyses included the Spearman rho test, contingency coefficient, and multiple logistic regression to examine associations between variables. Results: The findings indicated that 94.7% of respondents perceived the implementation of digital leadership communication as good. Leadership style showed a moderate positive correlation with digital leadership communication (p = 0.000; r = 0.512). Communication style was not significantly associated with digital leadership communication (p = 0.434; r = 0.068). Leadership skills demonstrated a strong positive relationship (p = 0.000; r = 0.589), while leader enthusiasm showed the strongest association (p = 0.000; r = 0.698). Multivariate analysis confirmed that leadership skills and enthusiasm were the most influential determinants. Conclusion: Leader enthusiasm and leadership skills are key determinants of effective digitalization of leadership communication in hospital settings. Strengthening these competencies may enhance digital leadership practices and improve organizational communication in healthcare institutions.

However, parental approval for the vaccination of the children is needed for the government’s vaccination program to succeed. Objectives: This study sought to determine parental acceptability of the COVID-19 vaccine and related factors for primary school-aged children in Bali, Indonesia. Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 420 respondents recruited through a multistage random sampling process. It collected data using a questionnaire shared through Google Forms. It analyzed the data using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate regression analyses. Results: Of the 420 respondents, 249 (59.3%) stated they accepted COVID-19 vaccination for elementary school students. Vaccine safety factors (adjusted odds ratio [AOR]: 14.376, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 7.682–26.903, p < 0.001), place of residence (AOR: 0.430; 95% CI: 0.271–0.683, p < 0.001), and history of comorbidities (AOR: 0.402, 95% CI: 0.222–0.726, p = 0.003) were significantly associated with parents’ approval of COVID-19 vaccination for elementary school children. Conclusion: Parents must be educated about vaccine safety, especially those living in cities and whose children have a history of comorbidities, to improve parental approval of COVID-19 vaccination according to the government’s target.
