Abstract

This study aims to examine the upskilling and reskilling strategies implemented by Startup XYZ in response to the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into its operations. A qualitative single-case study design was employed at a technology-based transportation startup in Bali, Indonesia, during the period of February to April 2025. Five informants were purposively selected, consisting of one HR manager, one line manager, and three employees who had participated in training programs. Inclusion criteria required direct involvement in program planning or participation for at least three months. Data were collected through in-depth interviews (45–60 minutes each), observation of two training sessions (±2 hours each), and document reviews, then analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings show that upskilling enhanced technical competencies, particularly in AI-based data analysis and decision-making, while reskilling facilitated transitions from administrative to AI-related roles. Key supporting factors included strong management commitment, collaboration with training partners, digital infrastructure, and employee readiness. However, challenges were identified, including budget constraints, employee resistance, uneven competencies, and conflicts between training schedules and operational workloads. The study concludes that upskilling and reskilling are effective strategies for improving workforce adaptability and competitiveness in small startups. Practically, modular training design, flexible scheduling, and career development pathways are recommended to overcome financial and psychological barriers, providing a scalable model for other startups undergoing AI-driven transformation.

Abstract

Tourism villages contribute significantly to Bali's economic development by promoting rural entrepreneurship. However, the sector faces challenges such as low product quality, ineffective marketing, and competition from low-cost imported products. This study explores collaboration and diversification strategies to ensure the economic sustainability of Bali’s village tourism and rural businesses. Data were collected through observations, questionnaires, and in-depth interviews, then analyzed using the SWOT method to assess strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The results highlight the importance of community involvement, partnership networks, creative product development, effective marketing, and long-term business management. Findings from four villages indicate that collaboration with local industries and sustainable tourism initiatives enhances community income. To support sustainable tourism and improve community welfare, it is recommended that the government and stakeholders strengthen the promotion of local products and maximize the cultural and economic potential of villages.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effects of job satisfaction, work environment, and organizational commitment on turnover intention among instructors in the “Richness” art community in Bali. Previous studies have predominantly focused on formal organizations, leaving limited attention to turnover intention in non-formal, community-based organizations, particularly within the arts sector. Furthermore, the integration of Job Embeddedness Theory dimensions; fit, links, and sacrifice, within this context remains underexplored. A quantitative approach was employed by involving all active instructors as of February 2026, totaling 36 respondents, using a saturated sampling (census) technique. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire (1–5) and analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS. The findings indicate that job satisfaction, work environment, and organizational commitment each have a negative and significant effect on turnover intention. Simultaneously, these variables also exert a significant influence, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.871, indicating that 87.1% of the variance in turnover intention is explained by the model. The study contributes theoretically by extending the application of Job Embeddedness Theory to nonformal, community based art organizations. Practically, the findings suggest that enhancing job satisfaction, fostering a supportive work environment, and strengthening organizational commitment are essential to reducing turnover intention.

Abstract

This study aims to optimize the employee performance management system of Atour Hotel Group, a medium-sized hotel chain in China, in order to better align employee behavior with organizational strategy and enhance sustainable competitiveness in the knowledge-based service economy. Many medium-sized service enterprises still rely on traditional appraisal systems characterized by limited indicators, rigid cycles, weak feedback, and low employee participation, which undermine motivation and restrict performance improvement. These challenges are particularly significant in the hotel industry, where service quality depends heavily on employee initiative and collaboration. Using a qualitative case study design, this research employs literature review, in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of Atour’s existing system. The findings indicate weak strategic alignment, overly simplified performance indicators, insufficient continuous feedback, and poor integration between appraisal results and incentives, training, and career development. As a result, employee performance tends to be compliance-driven, service innovation is limited, and high-performing employees show relatively high turnover. Drawing on performance management theory, goal-setting theory, and self-determination theory, the study proposes a practical and theory-based performance management framework tailored to medium-sized service organizations. The proposed system emphasizes participatory SMART goal setting, multidimensional indicators based on the Balanced Scorecard, regular performance communication, transparent evaluation procedures, and differentiated reward and development mechanisms. A participatory, fair, and development-oriented system can enhance employee motivation, engagement, and service quality, thereby reducing turnover and supporting the achievement of organizational strategic objectives. These findings provide practical guidance for hotels and other service enterprises seeking to transform performance management into a strategic driver of employee development and organizational success.

Abstract

The rapid growth of China’s new-style tea beverage industry has intensified market competition, making customer satisfaction a crucial determinant of business sustainability. In this highly dynamic environment, tea beverage brands must not only adopt effective marketing strategies but also ensure that their strategic and operational decisions align with customer expectations. This study aims to examine the effect of perceived marketing mix and Segmentation, Targeting, and Positioning (STP) strategies on customer satisfaction, using HEYTEA as a case study in China. This research adopts a quantitative approach and collects primary data through a structured questionnaire distributed to HEYTEA customers. A total of 200 usable responses were analyzed using SPSS. The marketing mix variable was measured using 13 indicators based on the 7Ps framework, STP strategy was measured using 6 indicators, and customer satisfaction was measured using 5 indicators. Data analysis techniques included descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple regression analysis, and hypothesis testing using t-tests and F-tests.The results indicate that both perceived marketing mix and STP strategies have a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction. The marketing mix demonstrates a stronger influence, suggesting that product quality, service processes, store atmosphere, pricing fairness, and promotional effectiveness play a dominant role in shaping customer satisfaction. Meanwhile, STP strategies also significantly affect satisfaction, highlighting the importance of accurate market segmentation, focused targeting, and clear brand positioning in meeting customer needs and expectations. This study contributes theoretically by integrating marketing mix and STP strategies into a single empirical model to explain customer satisfaction in the context of China’s tea beverage industry. Practically, the findings provide valuable insights for HEYTEA’s management in refining marketing strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and maintain competitive advantage in an increasingly saturated market.

Abstract

Digitalization has reshaped consumer behavior, yet prior studies show inconsistent evidence on whether brand image mediates the effects of social media marketing and product quality on purchasing decisions. This study examines these relationships in Endek MSMEs in Seririt District using a quantitative approach with SEM-PLS on 100 respondents. The results show that social media marketing and product quality significantly affect purchasing decisions, both directly and through brand image, which also exerts a strong independent influence. The study clarifies previous mediation inconsistencies and contributes practical insights for strengthening MSME competitiveness through improved digital marketing and product quality.

Abstract

In the landscape of modern vocational education, the transformation of Vocational High Schools (SMK) into Regional Public Service Agencies (BLUD) through the Teaching Factory (TEFA) mechanism necessitates the adoption of professional business management practices. This study aims to deconstruct the factors influencing student purchase intention within school-based retail units, utilizing Smensimart at SMKN 1 Singaraja as a case study. Employing a quantitative approach with a causal research design, this study involved 190 respondents selected via purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression following rigorous validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests. The findings reveal that price perception, product quality, and promotion simultaneously exert a significant influence on purchase intention, with a coefficient of determination () of 69.7%. Partially, product quality emerged as the strongest predictor (β=0.401), followed by price perception (β=0.394) and promotion (β=0.297). These findings challenge the traditional assumption that students are exclusively price-sensitive consumers, suggesting instead that they are rational consumers who prioritize value and quality. This article contributes theoretically to the educational marketing literature and offers practical implications for school business unit managers in designing robust marketing mix strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the gap in competency-based job training programs at the UPTD BLK of Buleleng Regency in improving the quality of human resources in accordance with industry needs. The background of this research is the mismatch between workforce competencies and the increasingly dynamic demands of the labor market. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the planning of training programs has not been fully based on sustainable industry needs. Instructor competencies are generally adequate, but still require improvement in adapting to technology and applying innovative learning methods. Training facilities are considered sufficient; however, they have not fully met modern industry standards. In addition, strategies to enhance human resource quality need to be strengthened, particularly in building partnerships with the business and industrial sectors (DUDI). The SWOT analysis reveals strengths in government support, weaknesses in limited facilities and lack of industry synergy, opportunities in the growing demand for skilled labor, and threats from increasing labor competition and rapid technological advancements.
