Abstract

Purchasing department of PT X is in charge of procuring goods and one of the keys of good procurement process is Planned Delivery Time (PDT). PDT needs to be accurate so material arrives on time. The problem is PT X does not update and evaluate PDT regularly so the accuracy of current PDT is unknown. The purpose of this study is to minimize incompatibility between PDT with actual conditions. The suppliers to be analyzed are selected based on Pareto Principle. Analysis is done by comparing PDT with confidence intervals which are formed from the lead time in 2019. PDT that is out of CI needs to be corrected. The revision of PDT will be given based on mean value from actual lead time because mean generate the minimum error of PDT and lead time. CI can be used in the next evaluation of supplier performance. Another result of this study is a system that is designed to facilitate PT X in evaluating PDT. The system will process the purchase data and determine the material that need to be evaluated. The system also generate the mean value of lead time which can be used as a basis for determining PDT.

Abstract

PT Salam Pacific Indonesia Lines (SPIL) is a company engaged in shipping logistics and operates in 42 branches spread throughout Indonesia, With the increase in the size of the company, the number of vehicles used for automatic operations increases, The difficulty of transport maintenance and complicated administrative processes is enough to hinder PT SPIL to operate on field. Therefore, the researcher created a project to standardize the management process with an Excellent Management System (EMS). EMS is a standardized system according to the administrative needs of PT SPIL, EMS has 3 important features, namely transport document extension, transport service, and transport rotation which also applies important industry knowledge such as simple moving average, weighted moving average, exponential smoothing along with the error. This research will result in standardization for PT SPIL vehicle asset management in document extension, vehicle repair, and when you want to rotate the vehicle in the form of existing forms and reminders and there is a calculation to measure the number of kilometers each day on EMS. The results of this EMS will later be used for the YES department at PT. SPIL.

Abstract

This company has several production lines and make to order systems where production is conducted after consumer orders are received. The company uses formula calculations to find the estimated time required to complete each order. The result of production process time is used for decision making of selling price and time of order completion. Thus, it is important to do cycle time monitoring so this company can discover the cause of non-value added. This research was conducted by performing observation to obtain cycle time data. The retrieved data are processed to discover waste analysis. Improvements are given to each root of the problem that has the highest waste value. Those values belong to several activities such as picking up wood, waiting because the heating sheet is not ready, picking up tools, talking, and waiting because the expand machine is still in use. The proposed improvements for those activities are to make inventory buffers, update working instructions, alter operator tasks, expand machine training, reevaluate production targets, and provide trolly tools.

Abstract

Company assets are important for every company because assets are one of the property owned by the company. Asset management will improve the company’s finances through efficient and optimal use of assets, planning for asset purchases or investments, and increase asset security. PT SPIL also manages vehicle assets such as vehicle maintenance, vehicle documents renewal, and vehicle movement between locations. PT SPIL performs asset management manually which causes several problems, such as time wasted recording asset variables, disorganized data, prone to incorrect records, and difficulty in finding past data. Manual asset management problems can be minimized by digitizing asset management. The digitization of asset management can be in the form of implementing an asset management information system. This system is designed to perform automatic and integrated asset updates, provide asset management reminder notifications, and store asset management data. With this system, PT SPIL can extend vehicle documents without delay resulting in unnecessary sanctions, can take better care of the vehicle so that the vehicle has a longer life cycle, and avoid miscommunication between the core and branches.

Abstract

PT. X is a manufacturing company that manufactures bikes. One of  the departments in PT. X is logistics department that has responsibilities to store, prepare, stuffing, and/or send the product to the customer. The problem faced by the logistics department in PT. X is that the logistics department that consists of three warehouses, logistics analyst, and a team leader only has one Key Performance Indicator (KPIs) for only one warehouse. Moreover, some of these KPIs are not related to logistics department activities and achievement of many KPIs related to performance from two or more departments. These problems make performance measurement of logistics department is not accurate. The purpose of this research is to design Key Performance Indicators that are the full responsibility of logistics department of PT. X based on Business Model Canvas (BMC), quality objectives, and strategy map of the logistics department. BMC, quality objectives, and strategy map is established based on vision, mission, and quality policy of PT. X.

Abstract

In loading and unloading container activities at the terminal, a trucking fleet will be needed. PT. X is a company that engaged in domestic and international logistics shipping. The company’s current problem is that there are containers that stacked in the terminal stacking yard. Some factors that can this problem is due to the imbalance of loading and unloading activities with the trucking haulage assignment. The percentage of the company containers stacked in the terminal stack yard reaches 6,9 percent and they desires to accomplish unloading activity in less than five hours. The company wants to determine the standard of the truck fleets so that the need for trucks is not less and not more, so it will be well drafted. This research uses simulation method with Promodel software to model the system. The simulation results of the initial model shows that there are 36 boxes stacked from the request for unloading 500 boxes using 30 trucks to move them. The results of the proposed simulation show that using 39 trucks to move 500 boxes does not result in containers stacked in the terminal stacking yard and achieves the company desire to accomplish the unloading activity within five hours.

Abstract

PT X is a circuit breaker company that produces various types of products. There are several production segments and each segment are used to produce one product type. PT X has conducted an evaluation of the facility layout in segment I, and found the need to improve the facility layout. Shortcomings of the current layout are the arrangement of several facilities, which located outside of the available area for segment I. The arrangement of new production layout, however, should not reduce production output. Production facility re-layout is costly; therefore, simulation is used to analyze the proposed layout. Simulation approach is used to compare the initial layout against the proposed layout. The simulation model was built using Promodel 10 software, with a simulation time of 22.5 hours and replicated for 25 times. The proposed layout is derived using an evolutionary algorithm method, with adjustment in respect to some constraints from the initial layout. The proposed layout can answer the needs of segment I, because there are no facilities that exceed the specified area and result in more products in a day than the initial model.

Abstract

PT. X has a problem with overtime and delivery costs not being met. This problem is caused by PT. X did not have enough cars to meet his demand. For example, in shipments made in August 2019 where PT. X is 376,515 goods but the successful shipment was carried out by PT. X is only 200,743 items. This causes every car of PT. X has to ship more than once to be able to fulfill the shipment. But the distance of PT. X is far, unpredictable road conditions make workers PT. X has to work overtime every day, even the average worker's overtime in June, July and August is 3 hours. In addition to the average overtime duration overtime costs to be paid by PT. X in June, July and August 2019 is Rp 175,593,867 every month. Although the workers of PT. X overtime every day PT. X still can't fulfill his request. So from this problem the research was conducted to be able to provide proposals to PT. X to be able to reduce overtime costs and to meet deliveries.

Abstract

PT X as a company that produces various types of bicycles has problems which one of them is painting process that does not produce output on time and in the right amount according to PPIC’s schedule. Based on Fishbone Diagram and Pareto Chart analysis, the most affecting factors are method, material, and environment.  The method factor is repair work has not been monitored well so there might be work delay. The monitoring system design in this research begins with improving the flow, then continued with the making of SOP and database in Google Sheets. The average percentage of realization accomplishment with planning from February until March (before implementation) is 32.09% and it increases to 50.01% from April until May (after implementation). Monitoring system can also show painting repair team performance that is presented by the percentage of daily repair accomplishment that has an average of 72.13% in April and 52.62% in May which is still below the target.
