Abstract

The threat for humanism and fanaticism is an important issue which needs more attention from all religious thinkers. The opinion which is given by religious person and intellectuals, is the ideology that is created in order to be able to play role as decision maker. Theology of schizophrenia is a new discourse, especially in the religious discourse and has sharp implication in discussing action. Theology of schizophrenia offers four aspects as basic ideas on religious discourses: intellectual, ideological, technology, and religious aspect. These aspects are complementing and holistically connected. Generally, the theology of schizophrenia intends to explore basic concept of human conflict. To apply this concept into religious discourses, we need comprehensive instrument in order to dissociate people anarchy. One of the important things that we should concern is the strategy and method of its application. The theology of schizophrenia established its methodology on the knees of religious values. It could be applied as a standard to measure good or bad things. Theology of schizophrenia will be positive if it ontologically relates to religious values and axiologically produce humanistic meanings.

Abstract

[Bagi masyarakat Jawa, ritual merupakan aktivitas yang sangat penting. Ritual Jawa meliputi nyadran (perayaan desa); procotan (kelahiran bayi); mantenan (upacara pernikahan); dan methil (panen). Masyarakat Tlasih 87 merupakan salah satu dari masyarakat Jawa yang senantiasa melestarikan dan menyelenggarakan ritual-ritual tersebut. Warga masyarakat Tlasih 87 memiliki latar belakang keagamaan yang berbeda, seperti Islam, Kristen, Hindu, dan aliran kepercayaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis interaksi antar-anggota kelompok keagamaan berbeda, terutama dalam masyarakat Tlasih 87, dan praktif partisipatif mereka dalam pelaksanaan ritual Jawa. Melalui wawancara, observasi, dokumentasi, dan analisis data, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa masyarakat Tlasih 87 memiliki pola perilaku yang harmonis dan memiliki upaya menyatukan sikap kebersamaan yang baik, saling mendukung satu sama lain. Hal tersebut bisa dilihat dari keterlibatan aktif mereka dalam pelaksanaan ritual Jawa.]

Abstract

The article scrutinizes the role of the actor of Tlasih 87 community in coping with social problems and his efforts to create harmony and peace among interreligious adherents in Sumbergirang village of Mojokerto East Java. The writer puts emphasis on the discussion about the methods employed by the actor to achieve his goals. In addition, the form of teaching proposed by the actor to Sumbergirang society will be another focus of the discussion. The writer finds that humanist approach has become the main tool used by the actor of Tlasih 87 in dealing with social problems. Such approach has brought about success to help the marginalized people in Sumbergirang. Regarding the teaching promulgated by the actor of Tlasih 87, the writer argues that this is a sort of cultural and religious syncretism between Javanese and Balinese culture as well as religious teachings of Islam and Hinduism along with kejawen. Although this teaching has encountered challenges during its dissemination, the number of the followers of Tlasih 87 have significantly increased. Tlasih 87 has widely spread out of Sumbergirang in a number of regions in East Java such as Gresik and Surabaya. The main spirit held by the actor of Tlasih 87 is building harmony and creating peace towards the unity of interreligious adherents as well as preserving culture inherited from the past generations.

Abstract

This article seeks to analyze the typology of management along with conflict resolution in terms of their correlation to the social theory of conflict. Social conflicts can be categorized into a number of types. Based on their types the social conflicts can be divided into two parts, namely vertical conflict and horizontal conflict. The vertical conflict is a conflict that has bottom-up as well as top-to-bottom patterns. Conflict management involves every effort to avoid conflicts which are, generally, violently-biased disputes. Such efforts are founded on the basis of resolution processes employing any means of power and authority. The conflict management implies the existence of conflict interventions carried out by conflicting parties or third parties who have considerable power or resources to stabilize the conflict. Within the context of power, the conflict management is usually implemented in three forms, namely formal-legal power, traditional power, and charismatic power. The formal-legal power is power based on such legitimacy tools as law and legislation. The traditional power is power based on claim of belief, faith, and customs. The charismatic power is power based on personal abilities which deal with magical and supernatural realms.

Abstract

Traditional authority is still the main reference as represented by the Kiai Kampung. Intense communication with the community and moral superiority and examples in solving various community problems are parts of how the Kiai Kampungs hold, maintain, and exercise their traditional authority. This article seeks to explain the authority of the Kiai Kampungs in Ngawi East Java and their role in developing and socially constructing local Islam in Java. The method used refers to historical-sociological studies with a phenomenological approach. This study reveales that the Kiai Kampungs have socially constructed local Islam based on the results of their thought and study authoritatively. Local Islam is a manifestation of an Islamic development model that accommodates local wisdom. Kiai Kampungs are referred to as "charismatic leaders" who have remarkable power to socially determine local Islam in the Kiai's perspective. In certain degree of analysis, the role of the Kiai Kampung indirectly has the potential to color the growth and development of global Islam.

Abstract

This article describes the way Muslim converts think and understand Islam after their conversion and how they pursue a moderate Islam in the post-conversion accompaniment provided by the al-Akbar mosque, Surabaya. The converts gain various Islamic knowledge as their initial foundation to know Islam. Since each of the Muslim converts has various interests in Islam, which might come from either internal or external factors, the post-conversion accompaniment provided by al-Akbar mosque has greatly helped converts’ lives. The finding shows that Musli­m converts have found resilience in controlling their emotions, a sense of optimism after converting to Islam. Al-Akbar mosque was chosen as the place for pronouncing the faith and for studying the religion since many believe that the mosque provides direction and technical guidance on how to embrace Islam righteously. Moderate Islam is the motto of the al-Akbar mosque, which teaches tolerance by respecting views or thought about Islam. This knowledge strengthens their resilience and intensifies their faith to comprehend Islam consistently and to engender a strong generation committed to maintaining Islamic spiritual values. Abstract

The article discusses nyadran celebration in the village of Jambe Gemarang Kedunggalar Ngawi with a humanistic psychology’s Carls Rogers. The community welcomes the enthusiasm for nyadran, because the event has meaning for abangan community in carrying out the ritual. The enthusiasm of the community with the preparation of ritual ritual: gambyong dance complete with sinden (handlebar), tumpeng, cleansing, offerings and drinks. The purpose of nyadran is for the safety and well-being of the village community of Jambe Gemarang. The humanistic psychology of Carls Rogers contributes to analyzing the implementation of nyadran in building relationships or communications among citizens. The community’s belief in rituals is significant, in particular the belief in sendang as a source of springs and large trees. The behavior of the people who believe in the ritual nyadran image of people who love local traditions and have a personality organism against the positive potentials of the community Jambe Gemarang. The nyadran ritual gives birth to a mature personality and a form of self-actualization of a prosperous society and has the pride of the nyadran tradition as (selfregard) formed from its experiences.

Abstract

Human life is dynamic in maintaining the balance of their soul. Life problems such as family conflict have an impact on mental balance. This study analyzed a bipolar patient, based on the result of observation, in-depth interviews, and relevant documents from one of the mental hospitals. Freud and Jung were chosen as a method for analyzing the concept of self-defense. The purpose of the study was to analyze bipolar psychiatric condition by finding the factors that influenced it. The findings revealed that life experience formed spirituality with zikir continually and practiced prayer despite the bipolar condition. Self-defense by continuing to maintain religious behavior as religious healing is one of the alternative solutions by involving the role of the family.
