Abstract

Performance appraisal is a process within an organization that aims to evaluate employee performance. Performance appraisal is used to assess how much productivity is produced by employees. One of the main challenges many organizations face today is increasing employee productivity. This research aims to determine the relationship correlation performance assessment indicators and the work productivity of nurses at Wijaya Kusuma Hospital, Lumajang. The research design used analytical observational with a cross-sectional approach. The population included all nurses at Wijaya Kusuma hospital Lumajang totaling 79 nurses. The instruments used an employee performance assessment questionnaire within the Ministry of Health and IWPQ. Next, it was analyzed using the Spearman's rho test. This research has been submitted and passed ethics at KEPK Unhasa. The results of this research showed that 31 respondents (39.2%) performed in the very good category, 30. The number of respondents with an assessment of work productivity evaluation of work productivity in the Medium category was 48 (60.8%). The nurse performance assessment indicator significantly correlated with work productivity, as indicated by a correlation coefficient of 0.905 with a significance level of 0.001 (P0.05). Performance appraisal not only functions as an evaluation tool but also as an instrument for sustainable performance development. Hospitals should continue to improve their performance assessment systems, which are objective and support the development of nurse competency. With proper assessment, it is hoped that there will be a sustainable increase in work productivity, which will ultimately positively impact the quality of health services.

Abstract

The elderly are residents who have reached the age of 60 years or more. One of the diseases experienced by the elderly is hypertension. Hypertension is an increase in systolic blood pressure of at least 140 mmHg, and diastolic blood pressure of at least 90 mmHg. The management of hypertension is by pharmacology and non-pharmacology. One of non-pharmacological treatment by implementing the CERDIK program includes a diligent physical activity and a balanced diet. Antihypertensive exercise is an exercise that can increase the blood flow and oxygen supply to the heart muscle. The combination of drinking watermelon juice is done to prevent and reduce the hypertension. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of antihypertensive exercise and watermelon juice on blood pressure in the elderly. This research used a quasi-experiment type of research with a pre-test – post-test approach with two group design. The samples of this study were 36 elderly with hypertension. The sampling technique used random sampling with a cluster sampling approach. The research instruments used modules and observations. The research was conducted from the 5th to the 19th of July 2024 at the elderly Posyandu in Labruk Lor Village, Lumajang District. Based on the results of the study, the average pre-test blood pressure value of the control and the experimental groups were almost entirely had hypertension. The research results showed that the average post-test blood pressure value of the control and intervention groups experienced a significant decrease. The results of the independent t test of the differences in blood pressure in the control and the experimental groups after being given antihypertensive exercise therapy and watermelon juice is by P value of 0.003 it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in elderly blood pressure between the control and experimental groups after being given therapy. The results of this study are expected to increase nurses’ knowledge about the effects of exercise and diet in the management of hypertension in order to provide effective education to patients.

Abstract

Asthma is a common respiratory disease that significantly impacts patients' quality of life. Despite advances in asthma management, challenges remain in controlling symptoms and maintaining patients' quality of life. Peak Expiratory Flow (PEF) is an important parameter for monitoring lung function and managing asthma effectively. This study explores the relationship between Peak Expiratory Flow (PEF) values and the quality of life of asthma patients at the Pulmonary Polyclinic of Bhayangkara Lumajang Hospital. The study design used was observational analytics with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of asthma patients undergoing regular check-ups at the pulmonary clinic, with a sample size of 60 patients selected through accidental sampling. Data were collected using a peak flow meter to measure PEF values and the Standardized Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire (AQLQ-S) to assess patients' quality of life. Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman rank correlation test. The results showed that 37 respondents (61.7%) experienced airway narrowing, while 23 respondents (38.3%) had more severe airway narrowing. Regarding quality of life, 34 respondents (56.7%) fell into the moderate quality of life category, while 26 respondents (43.3%) were in the poor quality of life category. Spearman rank correlation analysis revealed a significant relationship between PEF values and the quality of life of asthma patients, with a ρ-value = 0.000. This indicates that higher PEF values are associated with better quality of life among asthma patients. The study concludes that PEF is an important indicator for assessing the quality of life of asthma patients, and regular PEF monitoring can help improve their quality of life. This research provides a foundation for developing more effective asthma management strategies.

Abstract

Response time is a combination of the response time when the patient comes to the health center until he receives service from the staff. The standard time is ≤ 5 minutes for patients to be served after arriving at the emergency room. Long response times can result in the risk of death or disability. Fast and precise response time can create a feeling of satisfaction with the service received. This study aims to determine the correlation between nurse response time, service quality, and family satisfaction in the UPT Kedungjajang Emergency Room Community Health Center. This was multivariate quantitative research using correlational analytical methods with a cross-sectional study. Respondents were obtained in the emergency room of the Kedungjajang Community Health Center, which was held from 26 June to 26 July 2024. The sampling technique used Total Sampling with a sample of 5 nurses and Accidental Sampling with 48 patient families. The instrument uses observation and questionnaires, and it is analyzed using SPSS with the MANOVA test. The research results showed that fast nurse response time at good service quality was 40 respondents (93.0%), fast nurse response time at the satisfaction point was 43 respondents (95.6%), and a significant p-value was obtained at p=0.022 at Nurse Response Time on service quality and p = 0.001 on nurse Response Time on family satisfaction. Service standards in assisting quickly and appropriately are provided to patients in the emergency room by competence and ability. Fast and precise response time can create a feeling of satisfaction with the service received. Nurse training is essential, and health centers are expected to provide triage information boards so that patients and families understand the triage priorities given by nurses.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by persistent chronic hyperglycemia due to hormonal disturbances such as insulin resistance. Decreased cognitive function can start from the mildest form, such as being prone to forgetfulness, progress to mild cognitive impairment and eventually to dementia, the most severe clinical form. This study aims to explore the cognitive function and characteristics of elderly patient in the working area of the Kedungjajang Community Health Center. This research used a correlational analytic method with a cross-sectional approach. The study was conducted in the Kedungjajang Community Health Center Working Area. The respondents were elderly patients suffering from type 2 diabetes mellitus. Purposive sampling was utilized in this study during JuneJuly 2024. Interviews with patients were conducted using the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) questionnaire. Among the 95 participants, the age group majority was 45-59 years (61.1%), with a predominant female gender distribution (83.2%). The duration of suffering from type 2 diabetes mellitus was most commonly less than 5 years (75.8%), with glucose levels over 200 mg/dl (53.7%). The analysis of this study used bivariate and subsequent multivariate tests, revealing a p-value (<0.25), indicating a significant correlation between the duration of illness and the decline in cognitive function. The results of this study are expected to educate about the importance of maintaining stable glucose levels to prevent worsening cognitive factors.
