Abstract

This study aims to analyze transformational leadership in shaping institutional performance in higher education, based on Bernard M. Bass's perspective integrated with spiritual values and local wisdom. The approach used is a qualitative case study type, where data is collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques based on the Miles and Huberman model, which allows the identification of key themes related to transformational leadership practices. The results of the study indicate that the application of transformational leadership that integrates cultural and spiritual values can increase the motivation and involvement of lecturers and staff while contributing to improved academic performance. Through five main dimensions, namely idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, individualized consideration, and cultural-spiritual synergy, this study proves that this approach is able to encourage increased institutional performance in higher education. The implication of this study is the importance of considering the cultural and spiritual context in leadership practices in educational institutions. The integration of these values not only creates a harmonious academic environment but also strengthens innovation, collaboration, and engagement, thus supporting the achievement of institutional goals in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

this research examines the students' first-hand experience with multicultural cross-cultural engagement at Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur (SIKL). This dissertation examines the value of such multicultural educative experiences for the students in relation to their English language skills acquisition. English language and culture learners achieve Communication Competence. This study adopted the qualitative case study approach, classroom adjacencies, and in-depth, one-on-one interviews with students and teachers for data collection. The study purposely sampled six students and cross multicultural engagement, intra, and extra school activities. Authentic experiences and reflections were the objectives of the study, and data was collected over one month. It has been shown that students who routinely partake in cross-cultural interaction have better English vocabulary, speaking fluency and overall confidence when using English in everyday scenarios. The participation of teachers was central in enriching these experiences by incorporating cultural elements of the lessons as well as promoting cooperative learning of students with different cultural backgrounds. The research provides evidence on the relevance of multicultural interfacing and its relation to cross cultural interaction in enhancing learners’ language proficiency.

Abstract

Abstract

The present inquiry investigates the Petik Laut ritual, a foundational tradition of local wisdom among the coastal communities of Probolinggo, East Java. This ceremony, which expresses gratitude for marine abundance and maritime safety, reflects a profound ecological and spiritual nexus between the community and the sea. This article seeks to explore the ecopedagogical values embedded in the ritual and its strategic relevance to ecological education and climate resilience. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach with an ethnographic method, the investigation gathered data through participant observation and in-depth interviews with traditional leaders and local fishermen. The findings reveal that Petik Laut serves as a vital informal educational medium, fostering ecological awareness through sea-cleaning initiatives and environmentally conscious Larung Sesaji (offering) practices. Furthermore, the ritual strengthens social solidarity and environmental ethics, while climate adaptation is manifested through the traditional scheduling of ceremonies based on seasonal weather patterns. The current analysis concludes that preserving Petik Laut provides a robust foundation for culture-based ecological education, offering a localized model for strengthening adaptive resilience against contemporary environmental challenge

Abstract

Access to proper education is still a structural problem for Indonesian migrant children in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The absence of immigration documents, administrative barriers, and limited family economic conditions has caused most migrant children to be unable to access formal education equally. This study aims to analyze the role of Guidance Studio as a community-based non-formal education program to ensure educational rights for Indonesian migrant children. This study uses a cumulative case study approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation during the author’s direct involvement as a volunteer teacher at the Guidance Studio. The results of the study show that the Guidance Studio plays a significant role in providing access to alternative education through flexible, context-based learning, strengthening basic literacy, and shaping the character and national identity of migrant children. Despite legal and resource limitations, the Guidance Studio remains committed to becoming a safe and inclusive space that ensures the fulfillment of children’s educational rights. These findings affirm the importance of community-based alternative education as a strategy in reducing inequality in access to education for marginalized groups of migrant children.

Abstract

Mathematics instruction on plane figures often remains procedural and has not optimally developed students’ mathematical thinking skills, particularly reasoning, representation, and problem solving. This condition highlights the need for instructional innovation that encourages students to engage actively in constructing meaningful mathematical concepts. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of instruction and examine the effect of Canva-assisted Project-Based Learning (PjBL) on students’ mathematical thinking skills. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design. The participants were 40 seventh-grade students at MTs Nurul Hasan, consisting of an experimental group and a control group, with 20 students in each group. Data were collected through pretest-posttest assessments and classroom observations, and were analyzed using t-tests, N-gain, and effect size. The results showed that the implementation of the learning process was categorized as good. A significant difference was found between the experimental and control groups (p < 0.05). The average score of the experimental group increased from 47.00 to 84.25, with an N-gain of 0.70, which was categorized as high, and an effect size of 1.81, indicating a very large effect. These findings indicate that Canva-assisted Project-Based Learning has a strong effect on students’ mathematical thinking skills. The novelty of this study lies in positioning Canva as a medium for supporting concept construction within Project-Based Learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of pesantren-based curriculum management in fostering students' character within an Islamic boarding school. A qualitative approach employing a case study design was adopted to obtain an in-depth understanding of curriculum management practices. Data were collected through observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis involving school leaders, teachers, boarding administrators, and students. Data analysis followed the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while the trustworthiness of the findings was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that pesantren-based curriculum management is implemented through integrated curriculum planning that combines formal and religious education within a twenty-four-hour boarding system, systematic implementation of religious, academic, and character-building activities, and continuous evaluation through attendance records, student monitoring, and direct supervision. These practices effectively cultivate students' religious values, discipline, independence, responsibility, humility, and social awareness through sustained habituation and exemplary role modeling. The study implies that integrating formal education with pesantren values through comprehensive curriculum management provides an effective framework for strengthening character education and may serve as a reference for developing value-based curriculum management in other Islamic boarding schools.
