Abstract

Land conversion is the result of the growth for the urban population. Conversion of green open space (RTH) for development can lead to change in environmental quality. One of the impact to change in environmental quality due to conversion of green space is the increase in local temperature of the city. The existence of RTH have considerable benefits to improve the environmental quality of the city, such as amelioration of microclimate. The aim of this research is to analyze the microclimate and discomfort index of park city for the Komet Village of Banjarbaru City. Microclimate condition as categorized "discomfort expressed by > 50% of the population" to "discomfort expressed by the majority of the population". This condition is affected by the average daily air temperature and the average daily humidity which high at the study site, resulting cause the high of discomfort index  felt by the population especially in the daytime.

Abstract

Many studies showed  that rivers in Indonesia had been polluted. This is due to the large number of human activities, both from industrial, domestic, and agricultural waste. Kampung Sasirangan is one of the settlements located on the bank of  Martapura River. The existence of industrial activities from sasirangan waste water and the large number of people deficating and throwing the garbage in the river causes water pollution. Good perceptions and good behavior is expected to increase community participation in river conservation. The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions and behavior of the community regarding pollution that occurs in the Martapura River and to determine alternative strategies to control water pollution of Martapura River. Data was collected by questionnaires, observation, and interviews. The sample of respondents in this study used Slovin formula, amounted  100 respondents. This research use descriptive qualitative anaylisis. The results of this study show that most respondents have a poor perception of water pollution. Therefore, a strategy is needed that can make positive perceptions so that community behavior cares about environmental sustainability, that is education, wastewater treatmant plan, legislation, monitoring, and encouragement of public figure

Abstract

In line with the increasing population and the community's need for city facilities and infrastructure, urban development continues to increase. The paradigm of urban development should have changed and needs to be designed early towards the city with a better, more balanced way of life and still paying attention to environmental quality. The level of environmental comfort decreases as a result of the imbalance between built-up space and green open space (RTH) with the three main functions of urban vegetation being structural function, environmental function and visual function. RTH has a role in shaping the comfort of the urban climate through ecological functions, namely as a regulator of air temperature and humidity, so that it can be used as input in improving the quality of the microclimate by improving the quality of urban RTH so as to minimize the decline in environmental quality. The purpose of the study was to analyze the influence of vegetation structure and the role in improving the microclimate at each Tropical Rainforest Miniature RTH location in the Governor's Office area in Banjarbaru City. Banua Botanical Garden as a research site located in the Banjarbaru City Area, South Kalimantan Provincial Government Office Complex. The influence of vegetation structure on Location I which is dominated by lawns/grasses and shrubs with horizontal and columnar header shapes with low header density. Meanwhile, in Location II, the shape of the canopy is columnar and horizontal with a medium canopy density and has a tree height of 3-4 meters, slightly reducing the air temperature around the RTH. For Locations III and IV, they have a pyramid-shaped and spherical header shape that acts as a counterweight to increasing air humidity and decreasing air temperature.  The role of the Tropical Rainforest Miniature RTH in the Governor's Office area in Banjarbaru City in improving the microclimate based on air temperature at locations I, II, III and IV, namely 30.1°C, 29.2°C, 28.0°C and 27.3°C.  It can be seen that location III and location IV have the lowest temperature because they have characteristics of vegetation structures that can lower air temperature. For humidity parameters, it will adjust to air temperature conditions as well as wind speed will adjust to the vegetation structure in the RTH.

Abstract

Waste management in Palangka Raya City is in the Km Landfill. 14. The landfill is divided into 2 activities, namely waste management and leachate management installation. The waste management system is a method applied at the end point of waste processing. Waste collected at the landfill arrives at the landfill. The purpose of this study is to analyze waste generation, waste composition, and waste sources, analyze whether the waste management method affects the quality of leachate water and groundwater of the surrounding residents, and analyze the pollution index in the groundwater of the surrounding residents. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method by analyzing leachate and groundwater samples examined at the regional health laboratory. The results of these samples will be compared with leachate water quality standards, groundwater quality standards for sanitary hygiene purposes, and groundwater pollution index tests. The quality of leachate is unaffected by the operational method of waste processing. All leachate water samples for the parameters TSS and Cadmium are below the quality standard for final waste processing, except for the TSS value at station St2, this is because the wastewater is still in the waste pile area and has not yet entered the leachate management installation pond. The results of groundwater sample tests in several residents' homes for the pH parameter are below the quality standard. The pollution index results show that the water used daily is categorized as lightly polluted.
