Abstract

Natural and environmental conditions were the main factor that caused people make adjustments to their residences. People need houses with the reasons are usually to meet the needs of privacy, comfort, storage of possessions, acquisition, storage and preparation of food, shelter from the weather protection from insects and/or pests, safety, kinship and social, gathering and travel, and movement. The condition of balance is achieved by the design adjustments made so that the buildings cause the least amount of impact on the surrounding environment. The advantages of the stage house for a hot and humid climate area of West Kalimantan is done to responds the ecological advantages of surrounding environment. The raised floor feature has been the best mitigation feature not only to keep dry from constant flood but also to built into the nature whilst living near riverside area. The stage house with modern concept can be designed to allow for cross ventilation, natural lighting, thermal comfort, privacy (visual and social), functionality and the effective cost for house handling.

Abstract

Therefore, it is necessary to identify the pattern of the structure as base of the construction on the houses of traditional Malays to get the development of this architecture without architects. This study focused on a traditional Malay building in the Village Bansir Sea with the aim to identify the structural pattern. The analysis was performed by describing the structure per segment based on grids that were found on the object of study. The grid structure was analyzed by divide it into lower, middle and upper structure. Grids were calculated and analyzed in relation to the volume of structural material and volume of space structure. From this study it could be concluded that the structure under construction prop up 7/5 of the total bottom structure and the upper structure. By comparison between lower, middle and upper structure, it was concluded that the volume of material at the bottom of the structure grid in the case study should be greater than the volume of the structural material of the center. The use of massive lower structural materials caused structure dissipation when compared with the volume of shaded space. This was the consequence of lower grid structure element that sustained the structure of the middle and top of traditional houses. Abstract

Abstract

As the world population, the majority of Indonesian’s town all knows an increase of their population that results in an augmentation of the housing needs. What is called Micro-housing is a new global trend that targets a younger worker part of the population and also a newly married couple that doesn’t have children yet. Indeed, this part of the population is in need to find house or apartment close to their workplace, close to the transportation of the city but also close to all the other town facilities like hospitals, restaurant, stores. This desire of finding a house or apartment in a strategic location known as the center of a town tends to increase but the available spaces to build more houses tend to decrease. That is why one of the solutions to this space problem is micro-housing; this type of new housing will allow responding to this problem of available space. This design project is not only about reducing space, but it is also focus on being able to design and create a layout space that responds to the multiple needs of the tenant by using multiple techniques in the design layout but also using transformable and foldable pieces of furniture.

Abstract

Raudhatul Ulum Meranti Islamic Boarding School is a da'wah institution that was established to educate the generation of Muslims in Indonesia, especially in West Kalimantan. Raudhatul Ulum Meranti Islamic Boarding School was founded in 1896 in a village called Meranti Village, Sungai Ambawang District, Kubu Raya Regency. The curriculum applied by the pesantren initially only adhered to the classical system (teaching the yellow book) and developed into a curriculum sourced from the Ministry of Religion (KEMENAG). The aim of developing the area of Raudhatul Ulum Meranti Islamic Boarding School is to make facilities suitable for the modern education system. The design location is on Jalan Muhajirin, Kampung Meranti, Puguk Village, Sungai Ambawang District, Kubu Raya Regency. The stage method in this design starts from the Idea Stage, Data Collection, Analysis, Synthesis, Pre-Design and Design Development. The concept of Natural Pro Rate is applied so the areas that are still green do not have to build by destroying nature in the area, but rather organize and maintain the natural conditions in order to remain green. The results of the development design at Raudhatul Ulum Meranti Islamic Boarding School can make the mosque building as the heart of the area. Worship and educational facilities are made with Islamic nuances by combining ornaments in the building and creating a separate area between the male and female students.

Abstract

Technological developments that continue to evolve changes in various activities such as industries that rely heavily on computers and robot technology to increase industrial production. From this industrial development, it requires competent human resources who can compete in the industrial world. One way to improve human resources in the field of technology is to build a Computer Engineering and Informatics Vocational High School. Improvement and additional facilities are needed to support education in Kubu Raya Regency. The design stages of the Computer and Informatics Engineering Vocational High School in Kubu Raya Regency start from the preparation stage, the analysis stage, the synthesis stage and the design stage. Application of understanding tropical architecture with consideration of the principle of spatial comfort in buildings related to aspects of the body size of the building user, aspects of human space based on human activities in it, audio comfort, visual comfort, and thermal comfort in buildings. The application of renewable energy, such as solar power generation, is applied to building facades to provide electricity sources and block light from entering the room. In addition, the application of laterite brick material and roaster for air humidity adjusts the geographical area of Kubu Raya Regency which is a tropical area. The formation of buildings with a philosophical composition of shapes and room analogies from the Printed Circuit Board gives the meaning of access to rooms that are connected to one another.

Abstract

Museums in general are used to store, maintain, secure and utilize museum collections in the form of cultural heritage objects. Fine arts museums are appreciated through visions with visible media and have a physical form or simply presented as a show. The city of Pontianak does not yet have a place to carry out the function of this fine art museum. The museum collection focuses on modern fine art with long-term loans to the museum. There are some art enthusiasts in Pontianak but there is no place to channel this interest. The design method uses three stages. The first stage, data collection by classifying data as information and facts on a problem. The second stage, the analysis aims to analyze the data that has been obtained. The third stage is systematic and systematic by using images in the form of stages with product results, namely, planning drawings and design reports. The design of the Modern Art Museum in Pontianak uses a green architectural approach, namely building planning that seeks to minimize various harmful influences on human health and the environment. This museum has two floors divided according to functions, namely manager and visitor functions. The facade used is of the 3R type (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), so the walls use bricks and the windows will use low e-glass material and uPVC frames. The comparison composition of 60:40 for buildings and green land follows the requirements for building a museum.

Abstract

Malays are one of several local ethnicities who inhabit the island of Kalimantan. Malay architecture can be linked to elements of customs, culture, and tradition that develop within the growth of ethnicity toward community development. Furthermore, many reports found that the characteristics of the environment and the settlements' location make a difference in the Malay house's traditional architecture on the island of Kalimantan. The study identifies some differentiation by the effects of cultural factors in each area of traditional architecture, affecting the architectural elements. The influences to Malay architecture are found differences by each region's customs, culture, and tradition. The Malays' customs, culture, and tradition greatly influence Malays houses' architecture because the culture is robust. This influence has made the customs, culture, and tradition become an obligation embedded in every Malay society. The embedded influences to the traditional Malay houses are found in the orientation of the openings, spatial arrangement, structure, and construction. The factor of being a Malay makes people attaching a unique meaning to the architecture of a traditional Malay house. The meanings follow the belief in environmental conditions and simplicity in Islamic teachings in traditional houses.
