Abstract

Background of the research is the understanding of mathematical concepts eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Talamau still low. This is because students are embarrassed to ask and collectively with teachers and students prefer to ask friends rather than to the teacher. This study aims to determine whether students understanding of mathematical concepts using peer tutors teaching handout accompanied a better understanding of mathematical concepts than students using conventional learning in class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Talamau. This type of research is experimental research. The study population was all eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Talamau listed in the school year 2013/2014. Samples were VIII1 class as the experimental class and the control class VIII3. The research instrument was a final test, the reliability is 0.887. Based on the analysis of data obtained by the average student learning outcomes experimental class was 57.71 higher than the control class is 45.10. Data analysis was obtained  = 1.72 is greater than = 1.68. Thus, it can be concluded that the students understanding of mathematical concepts using peer tutors with teaching handouts better than students with an understanding of mathematical concepts using conventional learning in class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Talamau.

Abstract

This research based on the students understanding of mathematical concepts are still low. This study aims to determine whether students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying Discussion Method Type Buzz Group better than students understanding of mathematical concepts with the application of conventional learning. This type of research is experimental, the research design static group comparison. The population in this research is the students in grade VIII SMPN 14 Padang. Sampling was done by purposive sampling, with the consideration that both classes have an average that is similar to the decision classes VIII.6 and VIII.4 as samples. The instrument in this research is essay test with reliabilitas = 0,85. Results of data analysis that the two classes are normally distributed and homogeneous samples at the level of α = 0,05 and t test results obtained P-value = 0,000 is less than α = 0,05. It can be concluded that the students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying Discussion Method Type Buzz Group VIII.4 grade better than students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying conventional learning models VIII.6 grade SMP 14 Padang with 95% confidence level.

Abstract

This research was based by the understanding of mathematical concept and students are less able to express the idea with creatively and scientifically. This research aim to determine whether students’ understanding of mathematical concept by applying learning models of articulation beginning with constructivism approach is better than the students’ understanding of mathematical concept with the application of conventional learning at class twelve grade students of SMKN 2 Gunung Talang Kabupaten Solok School-Year 2013/2014. Type of research is experimental research. Population of research are students at twelve grade SMKN 2 Gunung Talang School-Year 2013/2014. The sampling technique is done randomly whith  class XII Akuntansi was chosen ekperimental class and class Marketing was control class. The instrument used in this study was final test with indicator of understanding the mathematical concept. Form of test used is a form of essay to amount seven question with a reliability test . Hypothesis testing used a t-test. The results of the data analysis obtained from  and  , it can be concluded that the students’ understanding of mathematical concept with application of learning models of artikulasi beginning whith constructivism aproach was better than the students understanding of mathematical concept with conventional learning at twelve grade students SMKN 2 Gunung Talang Kabupaten Solok School-Year 2013/2014.

Abstract

The background of this research was concept undertanding of students toward math that can be seen through the students’ mathematics results grade VIII SMP 15 year 2013/2014 are still low. The purpose of this research is to see “is students’ undertanding toward math concept that implemented active learning type listening better that  conventional class?”. This study is a kind of experiment research that is subject random design. The population of the subject is student at SMP 15 year 2013/2014 grade VIII. The sample of this research is VIII.3 as experiment class VIII.5 as control class. The instrument of this research is test of mathematic concept. The form of the test that was used is essay test. The reliability of the test is r11= 0,814. To analyze the data the researcher used T-test that used sofware Minitab in analyzing it. Based on the result of the research, it is found that both of sample with normal distribution and homogeny, the reliability is  and the result of the hipothesis is the value of P equal 0,001, . It means that the hypothesis of this research is accepted. It can be concluded that math concept understanding of the students who implement active learning strategy type listening team is better than the student who learned with onventional strategy confidence intervals  95% at SMP 15 Padang grade VIII.

Abstract

The research was background by matematics concept comprehension class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang is still lacking. The purpose of this study to determine whether students matematics concept comprehension by Questions Students Have Applying strategy better than the students matematics concept comprehension by applying conventional learning. This type of research is experimental research. The study population was all eighth grade students enrolled Muhammadiyah 6 Padang school year 2012/2013. Sampling technique is random. The instrument used in this study is to test the indicators of matematics concept comprehenson, a test that is used is a form of essay with a reliability test is   0.86. Techniques of data analysis using t-test of the party. Based on the obtained hypothesis test thitung = 2, 75 > ttabel = 1, 67, then the hypothetical in this study received. It can be concluded that the students matematics concept comprehension that apply Questions Students Have beter than the students matematic concept comprehension using conventional learning.

Abstract

 ABSTRACT           This research bagkground by mathematics learns student result at SMPN 14 Padang still lower. This represent one of the factor that able to indicate that students domination to understanding of mathematical concept also still lower. This research type is experiment research, with research design random to subject. Population in this research is VIII class student in the year of Lesson 2013 / 2014. Intake of sample technique is random, the chosen sample class is VIII.3 class is experiment and VIII.7 class as control class. Instrument which is used in this research is final learn test in the form of essay with problem reliability 0,80. Data analyze technique that used is t test one party with MINITAB program. Pursuant to result of data analysis is obtained mean of result of learning experiment class student is 70,28, higher if compared to class control that is 59,75. The hypotesis examination use MINITAB program with t test, is obtained P-Value = 0,029 < is specified that is 0,05. So, can be concluded that understanding of mathematical concept studen applying of Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type cooperatif studying better than the understanding of mathematical concept control class student with convensional study at VIII Class SMPN 14 Padang at trust level 95% (  = 0,05).

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was designed for determining whether the mathematics conceptual understanding of students class VIII.5  taught by using technique Numbered Head of Structured cooperative learning was better than that of students class VIII.6 taught by using conventional learning. This was an experimental  research wich used pre eksperimental design: static group comparison. The population in this research is the students in class VIII SMPN 28 Padang except class VIII.1 because it is superior class. The sampling was done by purposive sampling. The data was collected by using a on posttest mathematics conceptual understanding. The results of hypothesis test showed that P-value=0,036 was smaller than α=0,05, indicating that the hypothesis was accepted. Thus, it was concluded that the mathematics conceptual understanding of students class VIII.5  taught by using technique Numbered Head of Structured cooperative learning was better than that of students class VIII.6 taught by using conventional learning of SMPN 28 Padang.

Abstract

ABSTRACTLearning more dominated by teachers and students receive without actively thinking led to an understanding of concepts and low student activity. Learning model that utilizes the interaction of students in cooperative learning that is a model of NHT with ARCS. This study aims to determine how students understanding of concepts and activities that apply the cooperative model of NHT with ARCS. This type of research is experimental research. The population in this study was a class VII Koto XI SMPN 1 Tarusan Academic Year 2013/2014 except VII1 class. Class VII2 is a class of experimental and control class is VII3 class. This research instrument is the student activity sheet and test understanding of mathematical concepts. Data analysis techniques used t test. Based on the analysis of data known to both classes of normally distributed and homogeneous samples. Hypothesis test results obtained t = 1.85 is greater than ttable = 1.645 so H0 is rejected and accept H1. Concluded that the students understanding of mathematical concepts that apply to the model of NHT with ARCS better understanding of mathematical concepts than students who apply conventional learning in class VII Koto XI SMPN 1 Tarusan.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The background of this research is about student’s understanding of mathematical concept are low. It seen from the result of student’s learning class VIII SMPN 3 Batang Anai Academic Year 2013/2014. The aim from this research is to know the student’s uderstanding of mathematical concepts by implementing active learning strategies type Learning Tournament better than student’s uderstanding of mathematical concepts with conventional learning class VIII SMP 3 Batang Anai. This research is experimental with random desaign on the subject. The instrument used this research is student’s uderstanding of  mathematical concept test. The type of test is essay with reliabilitas test is = 0.97. Data  analysis technique used is the one parties t-test. Based on the calculation results of data alnalisys that the class normally distributed sample with  and . Hypothesis test results obtained   then the hypothesis in this research is received. So  the student’s understanding of mathematical concepts by implemeting strategies active learning tournament is better than the student’s understanding of  mathematical concepts that student’s with conventional learning in the class VIII SMPN 3 Batang Anai 2013/2014.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was conducted based on the fact indicating that the students’ understanding on mathematics concept was`stiil low, and the students had less concern on the teacher’s explanation. This research was aimed at revealing whether the use of Listening Team active learning strategy could give better effect on the students’ understanding on mathematics concept than that of the conventional learning in class XI IPS SMAN 2 Bayang. This was an exsperimental research which used random sampling technique. In this research class XI IPS.3 was`chosen as the experimental class, and class XI IPS.4 as the control one.the instrument of the research was a post-test. The test was in the form of essay whose r11 was 0,819. The data gotten was analyzed by using t-test assisted with MINITAB. Based on the result of hypothesis test, it was found that P-value (0,000) was smaller than α (0,05) indicating that the hypothesis was accepted. Thus, it was concluded that the use of Listening Team active learning strategy could improve the student’ understanding on mathematics concept better than that of the conventional learning in class XI IPS of SMAN 2 Bayang.
