Abstract

Mental health is a very important aspect of an individual's well-being, and societal understanding plays a central role in shaping attitudes and responses to mental health issues. This research applies a psychodynamic approach to deepen society's understanding of mental health. This approach involves understanding psychodynamic concepts, such as unconscious conflict, self-defense, and personality structure, to explore the root causes of mental health problems in society. A psychodynamic approach is used to discuss how unequal access to resources and education can influence society's understanding of mental health. Empowerment strategies and increasing self-awareness are also recommended to overcome internal conflicts that can affect an individual's mental health.

Abstract

Science education (IPA) in elementary schools plays a crucial role in shaping students' conceptual understanding and scientific thinking skills. However, the dominance of conventional teaching methods leads to low student engagement and learning outcomes. This study aims to examine the impact of using instructional modules and interactive learning on improving elementary school students' science learning outcomes. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of relevant articles from various scientific databases published between 2014 and 2024. The findings show that interactive instructional modules in the form of videos, educational games, digital applications, and e-books can enhance student motivation, conceptual understanding, and active participation. Modules with a contextual approach also help students connect science content with their everyday lives. The success of module implementation is highly influenced by the quality of design and teacher competence, especially in applying the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) approach and Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) based learning. Challenges include limited infrastructure, teachers' insufficient understanding of differentiation, and gaps between the modules and students' characteristics. Therefore, collaboration between teachers, developers, and policymakers is necessary to support the effective implementation of interactive instructional modules.

The writer conducted this study at MTs Fathul Huda with the total population was 69 students, by applying purposive sampling that consists of experimental and control group. The writer used a quasi-experimental design and using multiple choice test that consists of 40 items. And the result of the test showed that the t-obtained was higher than t-table (6.447 > 2.014). The Paired Sample t-test results in the experimental class indicated a clear improvement. This improvement was statistically significant across all five aspects of reading, main idea, detail, sequence, inference and vocabulary which means that the used of the Story Pyramid strategy consistently supported the improvement of students’ reading comprehension. In conclusion, Story Pyramid can apply to improve the students’ reading comprehension.
