Abstract

Cellulose was commonly extracted from wood and other lignocellulosic materials such as leaf, straw, bast, or grass. There is no report found on extraction of cellulose from root plant yet. Industrially, the root of vetiver is distilled to obtain its essential oil. In this study, the distilled vetiver root was soda pulped and the resulted pulp was characterized by the use of X-ray diffraction and FT-IR spectroscopic methods. Response surface methodology with central composite design was used to investigate the influence of delignification on the chemical properties of pulp. Soda pulping was carried out at 160 – 180 oC for 1 – 3 hrs with 20 – 40% of alkali charge. Severe process conditions were required to achieve a significant degree of delignification. Pulping at 180 oC for 3 hours with alkali charge of 40% decreased the lignin content of pulp from 39.53% to 4.47%.Keywords: FT-IR analysis, soda pulping, vetiver root, X-ray diffraction

Abstract

A two level factorial design was performed to optimized xylanase production by alkalothermophilic Bacillus halodurans CM1 using response surface method. The variables involved in this experiment were carbon (X), 1 nitrogen source (X) concentration, and pH (XCorn cob and fish powder were use as carbon and nitrogen source 2 3 respectively. Statistical analysis of the experimental results in the range studied, only carbon source gave significant effect on xylanase production.  A second-order model was proposed to represent the enzyme activity as a function of xylan concentration (X) and pH (X).  The optimum corn cobs concentration was 4.37% (w/v), 1 3 fish powder P concentration was 1.75% (w/v) and pH 9. These conditions were tested and validated experimentally since the maximum growth rate achieved with these parameters, and the highest xylanase activity.

Abstract

Lipase catalyses hydrolysis and esterification of lipids. The purpose of this research was to  obtain lipase producing indigenous fungi, to identify the selected fungi, to study optimum temperature and pH of the enzyme activity, as well as the  enzyme ability in interesterification reaction. The isolates used in the experiment were isolated from tempeh, oncom and BPPT laboratory culture collection. The results showed that three fungal isolates which isolated, tempe and oncom and  an isolate of BPPT-CC were positive produced lipase after qualitative assay using Rhodamine B, olive oil and PVA. The morphology identification of the isolates, revealed that R isolate was  Aspergillus sp, T isolate was Neurospora sp. and O isolate was Rhizopus sp. Upon quantitative assay from determination of the media and time production, potato dextro broth (PDB) with olive oil 2% in 48 hours fermentation showed the highest specific activity of the enzymes. Lipase produced from three isolate have the optimum at pH 4, temperatures at 40-45 °C and stable in interesterification reaction (55 °C) for 30-40 min. HPLC analysis after interesterification enzymatic reaction in mixture palm kernel olein (PKOo) and palm stearin (POs) showed that the composition of triglycerides (TAG) do not change if compared with the commercial lipase (Lypozyme TL1M).

Abstract

This research aims to determine the analyze cost, revenue, income and economic of scale of onion farming. This research was conducted in Metro City which is chosen purposively in which total number of respondents are 33 farmers who are chosen using saturation sampling. Primary and secondary data were collected in November 2017–Mei 2018. The research data are analyzed byincome analysis and multiple linear regression analysis with Cobb-Douglass production function. The results of this research showed that onion farming at first cultivation season and second cultivation season was profitable for farmers in Metro City, R/C value of total cost was about 1.43 and 1.53. Economic of scale of onion farming in Metro City was increasing return to scale, meaningthat there was an increase of the profit caused by an increase of total production. Keywords: economic of scale, income, onion farming

Abstract

This research aims to analyze:  cooperative’s performance as business entities,  cooperative’s contribution towards development, the economic advantage of cooperative for members, the non economic advantages (satisfaction) of cooperative members.  This research uses a case study method and the research location at “Serba Usaha Peternak Motivasi Do’a Ikhtiar Tawakkal” Cooperative (KSUP MDIT) in Tanggamus District, Lampung.  Total respondents were 55 members of the cooperative taken by using simple random sampling and consisted of members with the ownership of 0-5 goats, 6-10goats, and 11-15 goats.  Data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis and Importance Performance Analysis method.  The results showed that: business entities performance of KSUP MDIT included into quality category.  The KSUP MDIT hasn’t given maximal contribution towards the development. The more cattle that members of the cooperative have, the more the economic advantages they get. Non economic advantages (satisfactions) of members with service performance and fulfilment of member’s needs were in high category.Key words: advantage, cooperative, goat’s cattle, satisfaction

Abstract

This study aims to analyze income and marketing efficiency of ‘patin’ fish.  The research location has been chosen purposively in Seputih Raman Subdistrict Lampung Regency.  Data were collected in September-November 2016. This research uses a  survey method.  The census method is used to know farmers’ income on patin fish, and the marketing channel is used by using snowball sampling.  The results showed that patin fish aquaculture is profitable with R/C value of 2.06 and the farmers’ income is Rp61,799,669.90.  There are three channels of patin fish marketing but all of the channels are inefficient. It is seen from the producer share of less than 70 per cent.  Marketing margin and profit margin ratio (PMR) are not prevalent.  Market structure of patin fish in Lampung Tengah district is imperfect competitive market (olygopsoni).Key words:  Catfish, income, marketing efficiency

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the difference of production efficiency of green lettuce and romaine lettuce and difference of risk on green lettuce and romaine hydroponic Nutrient Film Technique(NFT) in PT XYZ. The data used in this research was monthly periodical data in the period of January until July 2015. Dependent variables are production of green lettuce and romaine lettuce and independent variables consist of harvest areas, seeds, rockwool, fertilizer A and B, and Labor. Data were analyzed using frontier production function and coefficient variation. The research showed that: there was a different of production efficiency between green lettuce and romaine lettuce using hydroponic NFT.  Green lettuce has lower efficiency rate but higher risk than romaine lettuce because diseases such as withered fusarium infected green lettuce. Key words : efficiency, hydroponic, lettuce, production, risk, time series

Abstract

The Tilawati method is a technique in learning the Qur’an that uses elements such as rhythm in reading the holy verses of the Qur’an. The Tilawati method is a way of learning to read the Al-Qur’an with the characteristic of using Rost songs with a balanced approach. This method can be taught verbally by combining rhythm and intonation to provide an interesting reading atmosphere while making students able to remember the verse better. The service method used is participatory action research by means of observation, outreach as well as providing assistance and evaluation. The result of this service activity is that teachers and students feel enthusiastic and happy when learning using the Tilawati method. The village residents really hope that the outcome of this activity will be that their children will be fluent and better at reciting the Qur’an and studying the Qur’an.
