Abstract

The research aimed to determine the effects of the potato and banana extract supplements in fresh form and flour with different measurements on the growth of plantlet orchid Dendrobium sp in vitro. Factorial Random Planning (RAL) consists of two factors: type of additive and measurement against 16 combinations of treatments, and five repetitions. In total, there are 320 samples of plants. Observations included the percentage of live plantlets, the start time of the shoots, the shoot height, the number of leaves, the root initiation time, the root number, and the root length. The results of the study showed that there was an interaction between the type of additive and the mark against the percent of living plantlets at age 4, 8, and 12 weeks, the height of shoots at age 8 and 12, the root initiation times, the count of roots and the length of the root. The growth percentage ranges from 80-100%, except for the potato flour additive 200 g/l of 45%. Potato and banana additives in the form of flour can increase the start time of the shoots faster than in the fresh form.

Abstract

In the cultivation of peanuts in Indonesia, especially in dry land with various limited plant growth factors, the main obstacle to planting in dry land is the uncertain level of water availability. One of the efforts to overcome the problem of water availability on dry land is to plant drought-resistant peanut varieties including local superior varieties and national superior varieties that are tolerant of water shortage conditions and have high production potential. The purpose of this study was to study the resistance of several peanut varieties to soil moisture or water availability for plants. This study used a factorial randomized block design. The first factor is plant variety, consisting of V1 = hypoma-1, V2 = hypoma-3, and V3 = local, the second factor is soil moisture, consisting of K1 = 25% field capacity, K2 = 50% lang capacity, K3 = 75% field capacity and K4= Normal (100% field capacity). The results showed that the interaction between plant variety and field capacity had no significant effect on all of the observed parameters. Plant variety had a significant effect on plant height at the beginning of growth, while soil moisture had a significant effect on leaf number at the end of growth, number of pods, pod weight, seed weight per plant, 100 seed weight, and plant productivity. Soil moisture at 50% and 75% resulted in plant productivity not significantly different.

Abstract

The research aims to determine the effect of the type of substrate and concentration of AB Mix on the results of kailan plants.  The research used a completely randomized design with eight treatment combinations, four replications, and three samples in each replication. The treatment combination are S1K1 (wood powder and AB Mix 4 ml/l); S2K1 (Sphagnum and AB Mix 4 ml/l); S3K1 (husk charcoal and AB Mix 4 ml/l); S4K1 (Cocopeat and AB Mix 4 ml/l); S1K2 (Wood powder and AB Mix 6 ml/l); S2K2 (Sphagnum and AB Mix 6ml/l); S3K2 (Charcoal husk and AB Mix 6 ml/l) and S4K2 (Cocopeat and AB Mix 6 ml/l). The results showed there is an interaction between the type of substrate and the concentration of AB Mix on the wet weight of the plant (your crop yield). The highest plant yields were obtained using husk charcoal substrate and AB Mix 6 ml/l. The husk charcoal substrate can produce the highest leaf area, but AB Mix 4 - 6 ml/l can not affect plant growth.

Abstract

The research aims to obtain the type of substrate and dosage of AB Mix that can elevate the growth of pagoda mustard plants. The study used a completely randomized design with four substrates: wood powder, charcoal husk, sphagnum moss, and cocopeat. AB Mix uses two doses such as 6 and 8 ml/l repeated 4 times in each experiment with three plant samples. Observations included parameters of plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, wet weight of plants and roots, and dry weight of plants and roots. The results showed that the husk charcoal substrate with AB Mix 8 ml/l nutrition produces the highest wet weight of pagoda mustard plants.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the impact of various substrates and nutrients on the growth and yield of Brazilian spinach (Alternanthera sissoo) in a floating raft hydroponic system. The research was used a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors: substrate type (M) consisting of rice husk charcoal, sphagnum moss, and compost; and nutrient type (A) comprising AB Mix, NPK, and Gandasil D. There were 9 treatment combinations, each replicated 3 times, resulting in a total of 81 plant samples. The observed parameters included time to sprouting, plant height, number of leaves, number of branches, canopy diameter, fresh weight, and dry weight of the plant. The results showed a significant interaction between substrate and nutrient types on the number of branches at 6 weeks after planting, while no interaction was observed for other parameters and the best results were obtained from the combination of rice husk charcoal substrate and AB Mix nutrient. Substrate and nutrient types significantly affected plant growth (height, number of branches, and canopy diameter) and yield (fresh and dry plant weight as well as fresh and dry root weight). Rice husk charcoal and AB Mix nutrient produced the best plant growth and yield up to 6 weeks after planting.

Abstract

Low productivity of cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) is often caused by high disease incidence. The application of biological agents like mycorrhizae and chitosan offers a promising strategy for sustainable intensification. This study aimed to evaluate the synergistic effects of mycorrhizae and chitosan on the growth, yield, and disease resistance of cayenne pepper var. Bara. A field experiment was conducted from April to July 2023 in Batu, Indonesia, using a factorial Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). The first factor was mycorrhizal dosage (M: 0, 5, and 10 g/plant ), and the second was chitosan concentration (C: 0, 4, 8, and 12 mL/L). Results showed a significant interaction (P 0.05) between mycorrhizae and chitosan on most vegetative and generative parameters. The treatment M2C3 (10 g/plant mycorrhizae + 12 mL/L chitosan) yielded the best performance, producing 8.03 t ha⁻¹, a 204% increase compared to the control (2.64 t ha⁻¹). This combination also significantly enhanced plant height, leaf count, and biomass. While no statistical interaction was found for disease incidence, both agents individually reduced disease severity. This study demonstrates a strong synergistic effect between soil-applied mycorrhizae and foliar-applied chitosan, highlighting its potential for significantly boosting cayenne pepper production.

Abstract

Polyploidy induction is a plant breeding strategy to improve agronomic traits. This study aimed to examine the effect of colchicine concentration and immersion duration on the morphological, phenological, and production characteristics of cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.). The experiment used a Factorial Randomized Block Design with two factors: colchicine concentration (0, 10, 20, 30 ppm) and immersion duration (12, 24 hours), replicated four times. Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA and the least Significant Difference (LSD) test at ?=5%. The results showed a significant interaction between both factors on plant height, leaf area, flowering time, fruit length, and flesh thickness. The 30 ppm colchicine with 24-hour immersion (K3W2) produced the widest leaves (7.98 cm) but delayed flowering initiation to 80 days after planting (DAP). The highest yield (7.2 tons/ha) was achieved at K3W2, showing a 92% increase compared to the control. Indicated polyploidy resulted in shorter fruits (4.32 cm) but with larger diameter (1.35 cm), thicker flesh (0.044 cm), and fewer seeds (53.75 seeds/fruit). It is concluded that 30 ppm colchicine effectively induces polyploid phenotypic changes in cayenne pepper, increasing yield but reducing generative fertility.
