Abstract

This article discusses the influence of Persia on the development of Shia Islam, particularly from a political perspective, focusing on the roles of the Safavid and Qajar dynasties. The Safavid Dynasty (1501–1736), founded by Ismail I, established the Imami sect as the state religion, uniting various tribes and ethnic groups in Persia and strengthening a national identity rooted in Shia Islam. The legacy of this dynasty is evident in its grand architectural achievements and literary contributions that enriched Persian culture. Subsequently, the Qajar Dynasty (late 18th to early 20th century) continued to play a strategic role in consolidating Shia Islam's position. Initiated by Agha Mohammed Khan Qajar, this dynasty unified Persia’s territories and elevated the role of religious scholars as key figures in society. This study employs a qualitative method with a literature review approach to analyze how these two dynasties institutionalized Shia Islam as the state religion and a cornerstone of national identity. Key findings reveal that the Safavid and Qajar dynasties played crucial roles in establishing Persia as the global center of Shia thought and practice, significantly impacting the geopolitical dynamics of the Islamic world. This influence solidified Persia’s position as a global hub for Shia Islam and reinforced its identity within the Islamic political landscape to the present day.

Abstract

This study discusses the phenomenon of Islamic da'wah on short video platforms such as TikTok which is now a new space for the dissemination of Quranic da'wah messages among Generation Z. The main problem lies in how the meaning and symbols of da'wah messages are constructed and reinterpreted by the digital generation. The purpose of this study is to analyze the signs and meanings of the Quranic da'wah message through Roland Barthes' semiotic approach, focusing on denotative, connotative, and mythological aspects in digital da'wah content. This study uses a literature method by collecting data from relevant academic literature, journals, and previous research. The results of the study show that digital da'wah is transformed into a new sign system that combines spiritual values with visual aesthetics, making the Quranic message more communicative for Generation Z. In conclusion, Islamic teachings in digital media reflect the adaptation of da'wah to modern visual culture without losing the substance of Quranic values.

Abstract

Anxiety is a common psychological problem experienced by patients before undergoing surgical procedures, including cesarean section under spinal anesthesia. Uncontrolled anxiety may negatively affect physiological stability and interfere with the success of medical procedures. Recitation of the Holy Qur’an (murottal) is recognized as a non-pharmacological intervention capable of inducing relaxation and reducing anxiety. This study aimed to determine the effect of murottal recitation of Surah Ar-Rahman on anxiety levels among pre-operative cesarean section patients at RSU An Ni’mah Wangon. A pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was used involving 37 respondents selected through purposive sampling based on inclusion criteria. Anxiety levels were measured using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) before and after a 15-minute Surah Ar-Rahman audio recitation. Data were analyzed using paired statistical tests (Paired Sample T-Test or Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test), with the Wilcoxon test applied due to non-normal data distribution. The results showed that before the intervention, most respondents experienced moderate (43.2%) and severe (40.5%) anxiety. After the murottal recitation, anxiety levels decreased significantly (p < 0.05). A small number of respondents remained in the severe anxiety category, potentially due to high baseline anxiety, limited intervention duration, and individual factors such as spiritual engagement and family support. In conclusion, murottal recitation of Surah Ar-Rahman effectively reduced anxiety in pre-operative cesarean section patients under spinal anesthesia. The novelty of this study lies in its focus on a specific surgical population and its evaluation of Surah Ar-Rahman as a structured, standardized, and practical non-pharmacological intervention for anesthesiology nursing practice.

Abstract

The professional competence of teachers is a primary determinant of educational quality. Effective academic supervision, managed by the school principal, is a key mechanism for enhancing this competence. However, a significant gap often exists between the policy mandate for supervision and its practical implementation. This study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the management of academic supervision in improving teacher professional competence within elementary schools. This research employed a qualitative methodology with a comparative case study design at two Indonesian elementary schools, SDN Buniwangi and SDN Cimaja. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with principals and teachers, non-participant observation of supervisory processes, and a systematic review of institutional documents. Data credibility was ensured through triangulation, with the analysis following the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings reveal that a systematic management approach yielded superior outcomes. At SDN Buniwangi, supervision was managed through a structured cycle: data-driven, participatory planning; clear organization of roles and resources; consistent implementation using standardized tools; and a multi-source, dialogic evaluation process. This contrasted with the more informal, less structured approach at SDN Cimaja. Consequently, SDN Buniwangi demonstrated more significant and measurable improvements in teacher competence. The effective management of academic supervision is a powerful strategy for enhancing teacher professional competence. This study concludes that a systematic, cyclical, and collaborative management model is essential for transforming supervision from an administrative formality into a dynamic process of professional learning.

Abstract

Kampung Sawah is known as one of the multicultural areas in Indonesia, where religious, cultural, and ethnic diversity coexist harmoniously. In this context, Islamic da'wah serves not only as a means of conveying religious teachings but also as a medium of intercultural communication that demands sensitivity, tolerance, and adaptive communication strategies. This study aims to analyze the practice of intercultural communication in Islamic da'wah in the multicultural community of Kampung Sawah, with an emphasis on the communication patterns of da'wah preachers, the da'wah approaches used, and the responses of cross-cultural and interfaith communities to these da'wah activities. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive-analytical methods, because it aims to understand in depth the phenomenon of intercultural communication in the practice of Islamic da'wah in the multicultural community of Kampung Sawah. The qualitative approach was chosen to explore the meaning, values, and socio-cultural dynamics that underlie the da'wah process, both from the perspective of the da'wah preacher and the recipient community. The results show that Islamic da'wah in Kampung Sawah tends to use a cultural and dialogical approach, prioritizing universal values such as tolerance, brotherhood, justice, and peace. The preachers not only convey Islamic messages in a normative manner but also accommodate local wisdom, everyday language, and local traditions. This inclusive communication approach has proven effective in building harmonious social relations and minimizing the potential for interfaith conflict. Thus, intercultural communication in Islamic preaching in Kampung Sawah serves as a model of moderate preaching relevant to Indonesia's multicultural society.
