Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve students' environmental literacy through project-based learning by utilizing household waste, particularly rice washing water, into Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF). The program was implemented at SMAN 1 Tembilahan by students from Universitas Riau as part of a thematic KKN initiative. The method used includes counseling and practical training through five main stages: initial assessment (pretest), concept delivery, group project implementation, result presentation, and post-assessment (posttest). The approach combined educational participation with contextual practice using the Project-Based Learning model. The pretest and posttest data show a significant increase in understanding, with the average class score rising from 77.75 to 98.96. The results indicate that LOF-based environmental education, delivered through interactive and contextual methods, effectively increases students’ awareness and competence in environmental literacy. This program also reinforces students' critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills by engaging them directly in real-world ecological solutions.

Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in supporting the rural economy. However, many MSMEs in rural areas still face the obstacle of low product sales value due to the suboptimal implementation of branding. This Community Service Learning (CSL) activity aims to develop the branding of MSME products in Batumarta 2 Village, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, particularly in Air Jati Hamlet, as an effort to increase the selling value of local products. The methods used in this community service programme included observation, interviews, mentoring, and direct implementation with MSME actors. The main programme involved creating brand names and product logos that were applied to packaging label designs. The results of the programme showed that the implementation of branding was able to build a clearer and more attractive product identity, increase consumer appeal, and potentially increase the selling value of local MSME products.

Abstract

Abstract

This study addresses a persistent gap in fostering autonomous speaking development among EFL learners in suburban, resource‑constrained environments, where access to high‑quality interactional practice and sustained self‑regulation supports is limited in digitally mediated settings. The research aims to design, implement, and evaluate an AI–VR‑enabled Virtual Speaking Partner (VSP) that scaffolds independent speaking practice and self‑regulated learning in junior high school EFL programs. Adopting a research‑and‑development design informed by constructivist and self‑regulated learning theories, the study carried out needs analysis, iterative prototyping, usability testing, and school‑based implementation. The intervention integrated the VSP into an extracurricular digital platform to deliver simulated, context‑rich dialogues with adaptive AI feedback and VR‑based situational immersion. Evaluation data consisted of speaking performance assessments, learner autonomy/self‑regulation scales, system logs, and qualitative learner feedback, analyzed through mixed‑methods approaches. Findings indicated notable gains in speaking fluency, interactional management, and confidence, alongside increased indicators of learner autonomy such as planning, monitoring, and strategic help‑seeking. Students and teachers further reported high levels of usability and feasibility. The study demonstrates that coupling AI‑driven feedback with VR‑mediated communicative scenarios can meaningfully enhance autonomous EFL speaking practice in suburban contexts. Implications include a practical development framework for school‑level implementation, guidance for integrating formative analytics into autonomy‑oriented pedagogy, and policy relevance for scaling immersive language technologies in under‑resourced educational ecosystems. Keywords: Learner Autonomy; EFL Speaking; Virtual Speaking Partner; Artificial Intelligence; Virtual Reality.

The population in this study were all students who joined as members of the English community. The sample in this study was taken by using total sampling. This research was conducted in three cycles. The results of the first cycle shown that students started speaking by learning ways and techniques of using Vlogging. In the second cycle, students began to be interested in using Vlogging to learn speaking and began practicing speaking through Vlogging. In the third cycle, students were able to practice speaking in a fun way through Vlogging. Based onthe results of interviews with students, they stated that speaking through vlogging was fun, they could become millennial humans that could speak English. By learning to use Vlogging they get two things, namely the ability to speak English and the ability to use Vlogging. In conclusion, Vlogging could improve students' ability in Speaking.
