Abstract

Abstract

This study investigates the unresolved issue of how fertilizer subsidies affect paddy production and farmer income, a critical aspect of Indonesia's agricultural policy that has not been fully understood. By analyzing panel data from 33 provinces between 2019 and 2022 using the Generalized Least Squares (GLS) method, the research explores both income dynamics and productivity. Results reveal that NPK and SP36 fertilizers boost paddy yields by 0.198% and 0.155%, respectively, while UREA and ZA have no significant impact on production. Additionally, rising wages reduce production by 1.343% but increase farmer income by 0.332%. These findings highlight the complexity of balancing productivity with farmer welfare, suggesting that while fertilizer subsidies can enhance yields, they are not a universal solution. Policymakers must consider multifaceted approaches that address both productivity and sustainable income growth to ensure long-term welfare improvements for Indonesian farmers.

Abstract

Abstract

Islamic education in Indonesia, particularly in the form of pesantren, evolved in response to societal demands and the imperative of da‘wah. During the New Order era, centralized political control and a focus on stability and economic growth created significant pressures on Islamic educational institutions. These conditions led to the emergence of khalaf? (modern) pesantren, which shifted from traditional to reformist models. One of the earliest in North Sumatra is Pondok Pesantren Tarbiyah Islamiyah Ar-Raudlatul Hasanah, officially established on October 18, 1982. This study examines the historical context of its founding, the influence of New Order policies on its educational practices, and its social role within the community. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research draws on interviews, documents, and archival sources. The findings reveal that Raudlatul Hasanah adapted effectively to state policies by harmonizing Islamic values with modern education, thereby maintaining its relevance and contributing to the formation of Muslim identity in the region. This study enriches the historiography of Islamic education in Indonesia by demonstrating the adaptive strategies of pesantren and the enduring cultural resilience of Islamic institutions amid political intervention.

Abstract

Indonesia and Japan have different potentials and uniqueness, but the value of agricultural exports, industrial added value and globalization will still cause environmental degradation. This study aims to find out how globalization, agricultural exports and industrial value added have an impact on environmental sustainability. In particular, were proposed using secondary data, from 1990 to 2020. The model was estimated using the ARDL procedure. The result, in the short term social globalization in Japan has a positive and significant impact on increasing CO2 emissions from the use of on-farm energy (EMS). Likewise, the added value of the agricultural industry can exacerbate the increase in EMS both in the short and long term. Meanwhile, the added value of agriculture in the short term can reduce EMS, a significance of 5%. However, in the long run the added value of the industry can reduce EMS, a significance of 5%. In contrast, with Indonesia in the short term agricultural exports have a positive and significant impact on EMS. While added value in the short term and in the long term can reduce EMS, a significance of 5%. However, SG in the long run will exacerbate EMS. Therefore, we propose recommendation to improve this condition, including a clear roadmap, increased partnerships, and regional and international support in order to produce policies that are able to preserve the environment, especially in the agricultural sector.

Abstract

Kata kunci: daya saing, gambir, RCA, In

Abstract

Tradition or custom reflects actions that are repeatedly performed in a similar manner, indicating the performer's affinity for such actions. This study examines a relevant religious tradition, namely the Ratib Saman Tradition. This tradition is closely associated with the Naqshbandiyah Sufi order, which has spread widely throughout the Nusantara. The focus of this discussion is directed towards the implementation of this tradition in the Besilam or Babussalam area, a region in North Sumatra known for its strong religious atmosphere. The research methodology adopts a qualitative and descriptive approach to analyze the phenomenon of the Ratib Saman Tradition within the socio-religious context of the Besilam community. The research results are expected to provide an in-depth understanding of the significance and dynamics of religious traditions within society, particularly in the context of the Naqshbandiyah Sufi order in North Sumatra. Abstract

Chicken eggs are one of the primary sources of protein for people in West Sumatra. The level of consumption continues to increase every year, while the availability of broiler eggs is not stable. This condition illustrates the problems faced by consumers and producers, namely price instability. Market integration is a metric that demonstrates how price changes in the reference market affect price changes in the follower market. The objective of this research is to examine the price variation and market integration of broiler eggs in West Sumatra. Coefficient of variation analysis is used to examine price variation, while cointegration analysis with the Vector Autoregression (VAR)/Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) model is used to investigate market integration. The variations coefficient analysis shows that the price of chicken eggs on the market is relatively more stable than that of the consumer market. The results of the integration analysis show that there is no integration between the market for broiler eggs at the producer and consumer levels, both in the long and short term. This is due to the information asymmetry between the two markets.

Abstract

Agricultural methane (CH₄) emissions remain a critical yet under-addressed component of global climate mitigation, particularly in tropical economies. This study investigates the long- and short-run drivers of CH₄ emissions from Indonesia’s agricultural sector between 1970 and 2022, focusing on three major sources: rice cultivation, enteric fermentation, and manure management. Using a dynamic econometric framework—including Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL), Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (DOLS), and Newey–West estimators—we quantify source-specific impacts and evaluate structural changes following post-2008 climate policy reforms. Results confirm rice cultivation as the dominant long-run contributor, where a 1% increase in CH₄ from paddy fields corresponds to a 0.72% rise in total agricultural methane emissions. Enteric fermentation and manure management also show significant effects, though to a lesser extent. A post-2008 policy dummy indicates a structural shift in emission dynamics, reflecting Indonesia’s transition toward climate-aligned agriculture through REDD+ and the National Action Plan for GHG Reduction (RAN-GRK). Short-run dynamics reveal corrective adjustments after emission shocks, highlighting system responsiveness to policy and environmental changes. The study underscores both the potential and the limitations of national mitigation efforts in reshaping long-term emission trends. Findings suggest that methane mitigation strategies—such as alternate wetting and drying (AWD) in rice farming and improved feed quality for livestock—can reduce emissions without compromising productivity. This study offers novel empirical insights for policymakers and climate practitioners seeking to integrate food security, sustainability, and low-emission agricultural development in emerging economies.
