Abstract

The circulation of herbal medicines through e-marketplaces raises serious safety concerns due to the illegal addition of chemical drug substances to provide rapid therapeutic effects. This study aimed to detect chemical drug substances, specifically theophylline and chlorpheniramine maleate, in herbal medicines marketed for shortness of breath using a combination of thin-layer chromatography (TLC) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Qualitative analysis was conducted through optimization and validation of TLC using two mobile phase systems, followed by two-dimensional chromatography to enhance separation selectivity. The optimized systems demonstrated adequate separation with acceptable resolution values. The results showed that all herbal medicine samples had retention factor (Rf) values comparable to the standard. FTIR confirmation showed typical absorption bands of chlorpheniramine maleate (CTM) and theophylline, so that all samples (5 of 5) were declared positive for containing chemical drugs, with CTM identified in samples 1 and 4 and theophylline in samples 2, 3, and 5. These findings indicate that some herbal medicines circulating in e-marketplaces contain chemical drugs, which are not in accordance with the provisions of traditional medicine regulations.

Abstract

Learning in the modern era requires an adaptive approach to accommodate the diversity of students' learning styles to enhance the effectiveness of education. One innovative approach is multisensory learning, which combines visual, auditory, and kinesthetic sensory stimulation to aid students' understanding of concepts, particularly in abstract subjects such as science and mathematics. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method at a junior high school that has implemented this approach. The research subjects include 30 students, five teachers, and three education experts, selected purposively. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis. The findings indicate that the multisensory approach effectively addresses the diversity of students' learning styles, enhances concept comprehension, and fosters an inclusive learning environment. This approach also supports students with special needs, such as dyslexia and sensory processing disorders, and improves students’ long-term information retention. Teachers play a significant role in the successful implementation of this method through training and innovative strategies. Thus, the multisensory approach has a positive impact not only on material comprehension but also on students' enthusiasm for learning and positive peer communication. This study recommends the importance of support in teacher training and the provision of resources to optimize the application of multisensory learning

Abstract

Produk minyak balur herbal merupakan salah satu sediaan obat tradisional yang banyak diproduksi oleh usaha mikro dan digunakan oleh masyarakat. Namun, proses produksinya umumnya masih dilakukan secara tradisional tanpa penerapan standarisasi yang memadai, sehingga berpotensi menimbulkan variasi mutu dan risiko keamanan produk. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman pelaku usaha mikro obat tradisional mengenai pentingnya standarisasi produksi berbasis prinsip Cara Pembuatan Obat Tradisional yang Baik (CPOTB) skala sederhana. Kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui metode ceramah interaktif di UMKM NQ21, Kabupaten Sukoharjo, dengan peserta sebanyak 12 orang yang terlibat langsung dalam proses produksi. Evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan pretest dan posttest dengan domain pertanyaan meliputi kebersihan produksi, standarisasi bahan baku, pengendalian proses, peralatan produksi, dan pencatatan sederhana. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata nilai posttest meningkat sekitar 30% dibandingkan pretest dan perbedaannya bermakna secara statistik berdasarkan uji t berpasangan (p < 0,05). Kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa edukasi CPOTB skala sederhana efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman pelaku UMKM sebagai langkah awal penerapan standarisasi untuk meningkatkan kualitas dan keamanan produk minyak balur herbal.

Abstract

Kedelai merupakan komoditas pangan yang mengandung banyak protein nabati dan berfungsi sebagai bahan baku untuk berbagai produk olahan salah satunya yaitu tahu. Tahu menjadi olahan pangan berasal dari kedelai yang sudah akrab dengan masyarakat pada umumnya. Kadar protein dalam tahu menjadi indikator penting dalam menilai kualitasnya. Durasi perendaman memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kandungan protein, tetapi pada titik tertentu, perendaman yang terlalu lama justru dapat menurunkan kualitas protein. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis pengaruh waktu perendaman kedelai terhadap kadar protein tahu menggunakan metode Lowry. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimental dengan variasi waktu perendaman kedelai selama 1, 2, 4, 6, dan 8 jam. Penetapan kadar protein dilakukan menggunakan metode Lowry dengan bantuan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Hasil kadar protein pada sampel menunjukkan kandungan protein tertinggi adalah tahu dengan waktu perendaman 4 jam (3,67%). Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara waktu perendaman kedelai terhadap kandungan protein pada tahu yang dihasilkan.
