Abstract

Body image is a conscious representation that can form positive or negative judgments. Negative body image isoften associated with celebrity worship. A person’s personality influences their body image. Personality traits includeself-esteem. Individuals with high self-esteem will not be obsessed with the body standards depicted by their favoritecelebrities which can lead to a negative body image if they cannot achieve the standards depicted. Self-esteem as amoderator variable is expected to be able to moderate the influence of celebrity worship on body image. The researchmethod used was quantitative with a moderated research design on 287 teenagers aged 16-18 years who liked K-popand Korean culture. The research instruments used were the Celebrity Attitude Scale (CAS), Body Image DisturbanceQuestionnaire (BIDQ), and Self Esteem Scale. Data analysis in this study used Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA).The results showed that self-esteem could not moderate the influence of celebrity worship on body image.

Abstract

Quarter-life crisis is a psychosocial crisis in which individuals are vulnerable to experiencing psychological distress. One contributor to such distress is uncertainty intolerance, while personal growth initiative is a factor that can reduce it. This study examines Personal Growth Initiative (PGI) in determining the effect of uncertainty intolerance on psychological distress in individuals experiencing a quarter-life crisis. A total of 309 participants were selected through a screening process using the Quarter-life Crisis Questionnaire. The participants completed the Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale, General Health Questionnaire-12, and Personal Growth Initiative Scale. Moderation regression analysis was performed using the Hayes PROCESS Macro. The results indicate that personal growth initiative buffers the effect of uncertainty intolerance on psychological distress in individuals experiencing a quarter-life crisis (B = -0.193, p = .003, R2 = .117), but with differences shown based on age and gender categories. Based on the findings, it is necessary to build personal growth initiative skills, which will assist individuals in achieving and maximizing their potential and adapting well when faced with conditions of uncertainty.

Abstract

Kata kunci: Acceptance and Commitment Group Therapy, kepatuhan minum obat, MMAS-8, tuberkulosis paru. ABSTRACT: Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious disease requiring long-term treatment and high medication adherence. This study examined the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Group Therapy (ACT-G) in improving medication adherence among pulmonary TB patients. Using a quasi-experimental randomized pretest-posttest control group design, 10 patients were assigned to either an experimental or control group. Adherence was measured using the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8). Data analyzed with Wilcoxon and Mann–Whitney tests showed a significant increase in adherence in the experimental group after intervention (p = .038) and a significant difference between groups (p = .006). These findings suggest that ACT-G effectively enhances medication adherence among TB patients, with implications for improving long-term TB treatment outcomes. Abstract

International students experience different stressors in host countries, stressors related to acculturation, academic pressure, and social integration. Adversely affecting their mental health. Studies addressed the significance of coping strategies as a tool for managing stress and relieving distress feelings. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a digital journaling intervention in reducing perceived stress among this population. Based on Pennebaker’s expressive writing theory, the program employed a one-week intervention using the "Unstuck" CBT-based journaling app with four first-semester international students in Indonesia. A mixed methods approach was used, with pre- and post-test measurements via the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and qualitative feedback discussions. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test showed no significant difference in stress scores post-intervention (p=0.357), likely due to the extremely small sample size limiting statistical power. However, a descriptive trend indicated reduced stress for three of the four participants. Qualitatively, participants reported increased self-awareness and emotional clarity, highlighting journaling's role in facilitating emotional disclosure and self-discovery. The study concludes that while digital journaling shows promise as a low-cost, accessible tool for promoting self-reflection, its measurable impact on stress reduction requires further investigation with a larger sample, longer intervention duration, and a controlled research design.

Abstract

Some adolescents experience dissatisfaction when their bodies undergo unwanted changes. They will develop an exaggerated negative self-image that leads to body dysmorphic disorder (BDD). The negative image that adolescents with BDD tendencies have of themselves is not only limited to their appearance but has extended to their whole self. Some adolescents with BDD tendencies experience self esteem problems. This study aims to determine the effect of gratitude therapy on self esteem in adolescents with BDD tendencies. The subjects in this study amounted to 8 people selected by purposive sampling technique. Subjects in this study are adolescents aged 15-18 years and have dissatisfaction with certain body parts. This type of research is a two group randomized pretest-posttest control group design with instruments in the form of a body dysmorphic disorder tendency scale and Rosenberg self esteem scale. The data in this study were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and the Mann Whitney test. The results showed that gratitude therapy can increase self esteem in adolescents with BDD tendencies. This can be seen from the results of the Mann Whitney test which shows a value of Z = -2.021 (p = 0.043 <0.05). Therefore, it can be concluded that gratitude therapy can increase self esteem in adolescents with BDD tendencies.
