Abstract

The achievement of self-sufficiency in rice in Bali province has a fairly severe constraints, because the conversion of wetland difficult to overcome. Therefore, control of land conversion through assign Sustainable Agricultural Land needs to be accompanied by efforts to strengthen agricultural institutions. This study was conducted to analyze: the potential of agricultural institutions in the protection of agricultural land sustainability, the role of agricultural institutions in the protection of agricultural land for food, agricultural potential in the provision of food for the population in the province of Bali, and in the second year of designing models of institutional strengthening agriculture safeguard sustainable food agricultural land in the province of Bali. To achieve these objectives, the research was conducted with survey design combined with the correlational approach (correlational research). Location research and respondents using purposive, while data analysis using the approach of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis using the soft ware SmartPLS M3 version 2.0., Followed by descriptive method. The results showed that: the potential of agricultural institutions in the protection of agricultural land is quite worth 66.72; the role of agricultural institutions in the protection of agricultural land classified as less instrumental with a value of 51.80; and projections of potential agricultural land in its main food supply rice seemed declining namely 90% (in 2015), 85% (in 2020) and 82% (in 2025).

Abstract

Communication resource for extension of integrated agricultural systems program which includes: facilitators agents, farmers, messages, methods, and facilities/infrastructure is not well maintained premises. Communication effectiveness of integrated farming systems program is only characterized by a change in the attitude of the farmers participating in the program, while other indicators such as knowledge, skills, and actions do not characterize the effectiveness of communication. The success of the integrated farming systems program is only characterized by the creation of jobs and the development of farming intensification and extensification.The objectives of this research are: (1) analyze the relationship management of communication resources for extension with successful integrated farming systems and (2) designing a communications resource management model for extension of integrated farming system. To achieve these objectives, the study was conducted with survey design combined with the correlation approach. Determining the location of the study and determination of respondents using purposive, whereas data analysis using Structural Equation Modelling approach (SEM).The results showed: (1) communications resource for extension in the integrated farming system has not been managed in accordance with management functions and this is associated with less successful programs of integrated farming systems; (2) resource management model of communication for extension of integrated farming system is a structured scheme of action in managing communication resources in accordance with management functions

Abstract

The level of food needs in agriculture sector is increasing. The condition urged the change on agriculture system. Therefore, anagriculture system that is more modern and more eco-friendly should be developed. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of the instructor competence on farmers’ behavior, the influence of innovation on farmers’ behavior, and the influence of the farmers’ behavior on the GPS program success. The study took place in Subak Timpag, Subak Koto Bongan, Subak Demung, and Subak Sungi I, which werepurposively selected. The research population was the members of the four subaks that apply eco-friendly paddy cultivation. The samples gathering in each of the subakwas done with Accidental Sampling technique with the total amount of 58 farmers. This study used Partial Least Square analysis. The study results showed that the instructor competence affected in actual way on the farmers’ behavior in the application of eco-friendly paddy cultivation; innovation affected in actual way on the farmers’ behavior in applying the eco-friendly paddy cultivation; and the farmers’ behavior affected in actual way on the success of the application of eco-friendly paddy cultivation. Abstract

As one of the popular tourist attraction, the number of visitor in Bali has been increased every years, and the number of foreign tourist stayed in Bali has been increased either. This condition has given the positive impact to the restaurant, and other facilities which is support the tourism services. Tourism industry needs vegetables with the healthy quality, fresh, clean, and with the continuously safety guarantee on it. This situation has grown the chance to conserve the vegetables with the organic system. The main objective of this research are, (1) understanding the consumer’s wishes upon the quality of the fresh organic vegetables. (2) understanding the consumers satisfaction on the fresh vegetable organic; and (3) to formulate the strategy in improving the quality products of organic fresh vegetable. This research has been conducted in CV Golden Leaf Farm. CV GLF is a agroindustry organic vegetables company located at Asah Gobleg main street,Wanagiri village, Sukasada Distric, Buleleng Regency. And the method has been used in this research is the quality function deployment (QFD). QFD has the function to define all the consumer wishes on vegetables related to existances of parameter methodology in the company. In order to understanding the way to fulfill the highest consumer’s wishes. The result of this research shows the specification of the consumer wishes upon the organic vegetables products quality on CV. GLF are the cleanness, the freshness, and the food safety. The length period, color, size, and the standardization form of the products on CV . GLF has generated the number of consumer with the satisfaction categories such satisfy and fully satisfy. The satisfaction category has been reached by the attributed of freshness, size, color, the length period, food safety, and the shape standardization. While the cleanness attributes has included into the satisfaction categories. The strategy to improve the fresh organic quality of vegetable in CV,GLF are, a) To fulfill the consumer satisfaction, the attribute priority which necessary being revised or being evaluated are the attribute in the length period of the fruit, size, the shape standardization, color, the food safety, and the freshness, and b) to improve the consumer satisfaction upon the quality of vegetables quality so the technique  of parameter quality should be revised is the way of permanent saving quality, the cleansing, packaging, and sortation.

Abstract

Kabupaten Tabanan merupakan salah satu penerima bantuan program Upsus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) menganalisis pengaruh kompetensi penyuluh dan sifat inovasi terhadap perilaku petani, (2) menganalisis pengaruh kompetensi penyuluh dan sifat inovasi terhadap keberhasilan program Upsus, dan (3) menganalisis pengaruh perilaku petani terhadap keberhasilan program Upsus. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Kabupaten Tabanan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dari bulan Februari sampai Mei 2018. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah petani yang mengikuti program Upsus tahun 2017 di Kabupaten Tabanan. Jumlah sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 96 petani yang ditentukan menggunakan rumus Slovin dengan tingkat kepercayaan sebesar 10%. Sampel diambil menggunakan teknik propotional purposive sampling. Data di analisis menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif dan statistik menggunakan SmartPLS versi 3.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) kompetensi penyuluh berpengaruh nyata terhadap perilaku petani, sifat inovasi berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap perilaku petani; (2) kompetensi penyuluh berpengaruh nyata terhadap keberhasilan program Upsus, sifat inovasi berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap keberhasilan program Upsus; (3) perilaku petani berpengaruh nyata terhadap keberhasilan program Upsus. Saran yang dapat diberikan dalam penelitian ini yaitu: (1) kompetensi penyuluh di Kabupaten Tabanan dalam menguasai materi untuk mengidentifikasi masalah-masalah baru perlu ditingkatkan; (2) pengkajian terhadap kesesuaian inovasi spesifikasi mesin traktor perlu ditingkatkan; (3) pendidikan non formal melalui pelatihan maupun bimbingan teknis kepada petani perlu ditingkatkan; (4) dukungan pemerintah terhadap infrastruktur irigasi melalui rehabilitasi jaringan irigasi tersier maupun pembuatan dam parit perlu di tingkatkan; (5) pengembangan penelitian lain perlu dilakukan dengan tambahan konstruk karakteristik petani dan kajian bidang ekonomi.

Abstract

Seed is essential support farming success. Availability it required support agricultural development. The purpose this study to analyze direct and indirect effects farmers characteristics, motivation and role of assistant on the behavior breeder farmers and their influence on the availability rice seeds. The study conducted in Tabanan Regency. Data collection done from March to June 2019. The number of population 142 rice breeders with respondent 59 rice breeders. The number of respondents determined using Slovin formula. Analysis tool used SmartPLS version 3.0. The results of study showed farmers characteristics, motivation, and role of assistant had a significant effect on the behavior breeder farmers. Moreover, seed availability was affected by role of assistant, yet farmers characteristics and motivation had no notable effect on it. However, the indirect influence farmers characteristics, motivation and role of assistant not significant to seed availability through the behavior breeder farmers. From this study, it’s suggested that 1) to maintain availability rice seeds in Tabanan Regency, role of assistant for farmers cultivate in own fields is optimized according to their respective duties and functions. 2) Role of assistant are role subak, PPL, BPSBTPH, breeders, and the local agriculture office 3) To improve the financial ability local breeders to buy prospective seeds produced by breeder farmers.

Abstract

Covid-19 outbreak leads to various issues in the traditional coconut oil business. A low-level purchasing power, low-level production of the oil, and poor marketing skill contribute to hindrances in running the business. This study aimed to investigate the business development strategy of traditional coconut oil during the Covid-19 outbreak in Sulang Village. Eight key informants participated in this study. Data was collected through the in-depth interview, documentation, and observation and analyzed through the SWOT dan QSPM analysis. Results revealed that the internal factors that play as the strength factor in this business were the unique savory taste of the traditional coconut oil, while the weakness factor was the low production of the oil during the Covid-19 outbreak. The external factor identified as the opportunity in this business was its close location to Paksebali and Pasek Gunaksa market. The threat factor found was the healthy lifestyle that tended to recommend a low fatty food diet. According to the alternative strategy analysis, there were 11 strategies found in developing and maintaining the traditional coconut oil business in Sulang Village. Consignments with merchants around Tukad Yeh Unda was selected as the priority strategy to maintain and improve this business. Strategies listed in this study expected to be a recommendation for the traditional coconut oil owners to manage their business during the Covid-19 outbreak.

Abstract

The Relationship of Farmer Characteristics with Farmer Communication Behavior in Rice Cultivation in Subak Umalayu Penaturahan Village, East Denpasar District. The lack of information sources from extension workers in Subak Umalayu has resulted in inadequate rice cultivation success. The research objective is to determine farmers characteristics, farmers communication behavior, and the relationship of the two. The types of data used in this research are primary and secondary data. This study uses quantitative descriptive method and Rank Spearman analysis. Based on the analysis, in terms of characteristic, the average age of farmers is 58 years old, most farmers’ education level is at junior high school, farmers’ average land ownership is 23.56 acres, farmers' average income is IDR 1,600,000, and the average farming experience of farmers is 20 years. In terms of communication behavior, Subak Umalayu farmers are quite good as reflected in each indicator, namely frequently looking for information on rice cultivation and frequently interacting within a group, but contact between farmers and extension workers / other parties is still rare and they rarely convey information on rice cultivation. Openness of farmers to the mass media is never classified. Based on the significance or sig- (2-tailed) value of the Spearman Rank correlation test, there is no significant relationship between farmer characteristics and farmer communication behavior. It is recommended to find information on rice cultivation, field PPL visits, and improvement of access to mass media in order to fulfill maximum information needs.

Abstract

Empowerment of Coconut Farmers in Brown Sugar Processing in Besan Village, Dawan District, Klungkung Regency. Besan Village is a village that has few human resources despite its good natural resource potential. This can be seen from the brown sugar processing business which still uses traditional methods and limited marketing, hence farmers do not get much income from brown sugar production. This study aims to determine the potential of coconut farming and brown sugar processing business and to analyze the empowerment efforts of coconut farmers in the brown sugar processing business in Besan Village, Dawan District, Klungkung Regency. This study uses descriptive qualitative method. Eight informants were selected by using purposive method, namely the entire population of farmers who are still producing brown sugar. The result of this study indicates that brown sugar processing resources in Besan Village which includes natural resources, human resources, financial resources, and technological resources are sufficient. The efforts to empower brown sugar producer farmers, which include human development, business development, institutional development, and environmental development has been sufficient.
