Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop interactive media that utilizes the Smart Apps Creator (SAC) application with a focus on statistical literacy, especially on data centralization material for grade 7 students. The development of this media follows the steps in the ADDIE model, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This research involved 25 7th-grade students from SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Depok Sleman as research subjects. The instruments used in this research include interviews, validation questionnaires from material and media experts, and student response questionnaires. Based on research findings, interactive media developed with the Smart Apps Creator (SAC) application is proven to be valid and practical. The results of the material expert assessment were 80% which met the valid category. While the media expert assessment was 81.48% met the very valid category. The practicality criteria were obtained from the results of student responses with a percentage of 79.44% which also fell into the practical category indicating that the media is suitable for use in teaching. Thus, interactive media based on SAC can be an effective alternative to improve student understanding and motivation when studying data centralization material.

Abstract

Torbangun (Coleus amboinicus L.) is a local Indonesian medicinal plant traditionally used to promote breast milk (ASI) production. However, its propagation is limited because flowering is inhibited under unfavorable climatic conditions, and vegetative propagation through stem cuttings results in low genetic diversity. Increasing genetic variability through induced mutation and polyploidization offers a promising approach for crop improvement. To date, there has been no report on the morphological and physiological characterization of Torbangun polyploids induced by oryzalin. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the morphological and physiological characteristics of Torbangun clones derived from oryzalin-induced polyploidization. The plant materials consisted of six Torbangun clones (332Z, 332O, 333M, 333F, 513K, and 513W) obtained from the fifth subculture after exposure to 60 µM oryzalin for 72 hours. The experiment employed a completely randomized design (CRD) with one factor (clone) and eight replications, each represented by one plantlet per polybag. Growth parameters observed for 12 weeks included viability (%), plant height (cm), number of leaves, and number of axillary buds. Data were analyzed by ANOVA, followed by Duncan’s test for mean separation. Ploidy levels were verified using ex vitro flow cytometry. The results showed that clone 513W exhibited superior growth performance with the highest number of leaves, axillary buds, and chlorophyll and carotenoid contents. Qualitatively, induced and control plants displayed similar morphological traits, but quantitative differences were observed in leaf thickness and area. These findings provide the first comprehensive characterization of oryzalin-induced Torbangun polyploids, offering insights for future breeding and conservation efforts.

Abstract

Abstract

The Real Work Lecture Program (KKN) aims to increase educational synergy and strengthen the empowerment of Islamic boarding schools. This activity was carried out for 30 days at the Al Wathoniyah Islamic Boarding School, with a focus on improving the quality of students through practice-based training and seminars. In its implementation, communication obstacles are overcome through regular meetings, a clear leadership structure, and an organized division of tasks to strengthen coordination. Despite facing communication challenges, the KKN program at Al Wathoniyah Islamic Boarding School has succeeded in improving the quality of education and skills of students. The steps implemented during this activity had a positive impact on the development of students and society.

Abstract

BACKGROUND Digital radiography has been used to evaluate the progress of bone growth with a collagen-hydroxyapatite implant in rabbit tibias. This study aimed to introduce digital radiography methods that provide comprehensive data availability for continuous information retrieval from the implant preparation to the cultivation period. METHODS 38 digital radiographs were divided into 3 treatment groups, namely a single defect without implant (control), single-implant, and three-implant. Radiographic acquisitions were performed at preparation time and post-implantation from 0 to 56 days. Observations were concentrated on the implantation site, followed by creating a lateral profile. The prediction of implantation growth was determined using relative bone density (RBD) percentage. RESULTS Based on the profile, the recovery process consisted of implant absorption and new bone tissue deposition. The absorption process was highly influenced by the defect size. In the control and single-implant groups, regardless of the different recovery processes, similar recovery results were observed 56 days post-implantation, with an RBD value of approximately 90%. Meanwhile, the three-implant group only had an RBD value of 62%. CONCLUSIONS Radiography can evaluate absorption and new bone growth during implantation in New Zealand white rabbits. Radiographs, which can be obtained at any time during cultivation, offered more information on the recovery implantation process than the other method that relies on data obtained after sacrificing the animals.

Abstract

Sukun (Artocarpus altilis (Parkinson) Fosberg) of the Moraceaae is a big tree which can grow to 15-20 m in height and native to the Asia-Pasific region. Beside its delicious fruit, sukun is also known as a traditional herbal medicinal plant in the region, including Indonesia. Nearly all parts of the plant, such as roots, stems and leaves are believed by local communities to be capable of curing liver disease, hypertension, cardiac arrest, toothache, renal problem and even skin itchiness. The collaborative research between LIPI and PR China, on developing herbal medicines indicated that sukun has a great potential for treating cardiovascular disease. However, the availability of raw materials still poses a big constraint for the industry of herbal medicines. Generally, sukun is propagated by root or stem cuttings, since in Indonesia sukun does not produce any seeds. However such method only produces limited planting materials. In general tissue culture propagated plants have many advantages, namely being clonal, free from pest and diseases, more uniform, and allowing a high rate of plant multiplication. Therefore, the technique for sukun propagation has been developed by the LIPI Research Centre for Biotechnology. In this research the effects of 1-5 mg/l benzyl amino purine (BAP) and 20-40 mg/l adenine sulphate (AS)on shoot bud proliferation were investigated using lateral shoot buds on a modified Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium with addition of 150 ml/l coconut water (CW). Shoots were rooted on MS medium without plant growth regulators (PGRs). The results showed that the best medium for in vitro shoot proliferation was a modified MS medium containing 2 mg/l BAP, 40 mg/l AS and 150 ml/l CW. The best medium for rooting is MS medium containing 1 mg indole butyric acid (IBA), producing roots within 3 weeks.
