Abstract

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in education offers significant potential for enhancing the quality of learning and teaching efficiency. This study aims to evaluate AI-based teaching material development training using Kelas Ajaib on the Canva application, provided to 40 teachers at SMP Negeri 1 Ambon. The methods used included a workshop approach and interactive simulations, designed to improve teachers' competence in designing technology-based teaching media. The evaluation results showed that participants' enthusiasm reached 85%, while satisfaction levels were 86%, indicating a positive response to the training. However, competence levels in developing teaching media only reached 75%, indicating the need for additional mentoring and improved technological infrastructure. The main obstacles identified included hardware limitations and adaptation to new technology. Recommendations include further training, increased technical support, and the strengthening of school infrastructure. The implications of this training highlight the importance of collaboration among educational stakeholders to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of AI technology implementation in teaching. Further research is recommended to evaluate the long-term impact of this training on teaching quality and student engagement.

Abstract

This study examines the Kago Ago Sea Festival, a maritime tradition practiced by the Buton community in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. This tradition embodies religious values and local wisdom, reflecting the close relationship between society, nature, and spirituality. Through a series of rituals such as collective prayers and offerings to the sea, the Kago Ago Sea Festival serves to strengthen social solidarity, maintain marine ecosystem sustainability, and express gratitude and reverence to supernatural forces. However, modernization and tourism pose challenges by altering the ritual's meaning and shifting values among younger generations. This research employs an ethnographic method, utilizing participant observation and in-depth interviews to explore the religious, social, and ecological dimensions of the Kago Ago Sea Festival. The findings reveal that this ritual not only functions as a medium for religious expression but also as a social mechanism to maintain environmental balance and strengthen cultural identity. Therefore, efforts to preserve the Kago Ago Sea Festival should consider the underlying spiritual and social values of this practice

Abstract

This research aims to improve students' understanding of disaster mitigation through the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach. PBL is a student-centered learning method, in which they are actively involved in solving real problems, in this case, natural disasters. The implementation of PBL in the context of disaster mitigation is expected to increase students' awareness and readiness to face potential disasters in their environment. The research was conducted with a descriptive quantitative approach, involving high school students living in disaster-prone areas. The results showed that the implementation of PBL significantly improved students' understanding of disaster mitigation measures, such as risk identification, evacuation planning, and self-rescue. In addition, students also demonstrate improved skills in working collaboratively to solve complex problems. Through group discussions and disaster simulations, students are better able to apply theory into real practice. These findings show that PBL is an effective method in disaster mitigation education, because it is able to integrate problem-based learning with practical experience. Thus, PBL can be a widely adopted learning strategy to increase the readiness of the younger generation to face future disaster threats.

Abstract

This study targets the threat and risk of flooding in Sirimau District, Ambon City, from a multi-criteria perspective using a Geographic Information System (GIS). Important flood hazard characteristics include land use, elevation, slope, distance from rivers, soil, and rainfall. Two risk factors, namely population density, land use, and flood hazard characteristics are used in flood risk analysis. Map aggregation procedure for flood risk and hazard analysis uses the Weighted Linear Combination (WLC) approach. The results of the flood hazard at the study site revealed that the flood hazard category was very high and high. Namely, 12.26% and the flood hazard category was very low and low, 87.84% and only. The results of the flood risk in the research location revealed that the flood risk with very high and high-risk categories was around 17.28%, and deficient and low flood risk categories (82.77%). This is because hilly and mountainous areas mostly dominate the Sirimau sub-district

Abstract

This river cleanup and counseling activity aimed to reduce water pollution and enhance environmental awareness within the community. The counseling sessions were designed to improve the community's understanding of water pollution's impact and emphasize the importance of maintaining river cleanliness. The cleanup effort involved the active participation of community volunteers and local government in removing pollutants from the river. This initiative is expected to foster behavioral changes in waste management and environmental stewardship, resulting in sustainable improvements in water quality. Additionally, this activity is a foundational step towards fostering long-term collaboration between the government, local communities, and environmental organizations for maintaining clean water and promoting ecological sustainability.

Abstract

This study explores the issue of waste disposal along the banks of the Durian River in Masohi City, Maluku, and analyzes the factors influencing community behaviour related to the river. With a descriptive qualitative approach, the research highlights the need for more awareness and concern among the community and the insufficient government response to the issue—the study through observations, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that addressing the waste disposal problem along the Durian River in Masohi City requires collaboration and concrete actions. The government needs to enforce strict policies and impose firm penalties for violations. Relevant institutions should actively monitor the river, implement regular cleanup programs, and support community initiatives. Public education, the development of controlled facilities, and recycling are critical factors in waste management. The environment along the Durian River can become clean and sustainable by monitoring waste management programs and fostering cooperation between the government, institutions, and the community. Concrete measures, such as penalties, cleanup programs, and education, must be carried out collectively to change community behaviour and culture.

Abstract

Population growth is a crucial factor influencing the development of settlements, particularly in rural areas. This study analyzes the impact of population growth on settlement development in Itawaka Village, East Saparua District, from 2014 to 2023. The research employs a quantitative approach using simple linear regression analysis to measure the extent to which population changes affect settlement expansion and infrastructure development. The results indicate that the highest population was recorded in 2018 at 2,099 inhabitants, followed by a significant decline, reaching 1,882 in 2023. The analysis reveals a strong correlation between population growth and settlement expansion, with an R-square value of 0.699, meaning that 69.9% of settlement development variations can be explained by demographic changes. The findings highlight the need for sustainable settlement planning to address population fluctuations and ensure balanced infrastructure development. This study contributes to understanding the relationship between demographic trends and spatial planning in coastal rural areas, providing insights for policymakers in formulating sustainable settlement strategies.
