Abstract

Dyera lowii Hook.f is one of the forestry plants that can grow on peatlands. Dyera lowii plants are able to restore damaged peatlands such as forest fires. Cow urine contains growth aphrodisiacs that can be used as growth regulators including (IAA). Cow urine also has a positive influence on vegetative growth in plants. The purpose of this research is to determine effect and the best concentration of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) of cow urine on the growth of Dyera lowii on peat media. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications so that 16 units of the experiment would be obtained. The treatments are: K0 (without application of cow urine / control) K1 (application of cow urine concentration 20%) K2 (application of cow urine concentration 50%) K3 (application of cow urine concentration 80%). Data were further analyzed using variance, with SPSS software version 20.0. This test is carried out to find out if there is, at least one treatment that significantly affects the research. If there is, it must be continued with a test (DMNRT) with a level of 5%. Application of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) of cow urine influences the growth of swamp Dyera lowii and the best concentration of  liquid organic fertilizer of cow urine to stimulate the growth of swamp Dyera lowii on peat media is a concentration of 20% (K1 treatment) increase in seedling height of 0.89 cm, dry weight of plants 0.74 gr and top root ratio 2.21. Keywords: Liquid organic fertilizer, cow urine, Dyera lowii Hook.f, peat media

Abstract

Acacia mangium is one of the plant that was planted in industrial timber plantations as the main material of paper. This plant no need the specific area to grow and can produce the best wood. Acacia mangium nursery have a problem to the pest. One of the pest that often attack the young plants in the nursery is Paracoccus marginatus. It can makes the low number of productivity. The efforts to control this pest is generally controlled by using chemical pesticides. One of the alternative that can be used to minimaze the application of chemical pesticide was using of Eucalyptus sp. leaf extract. This research aimed to know the influence of applicaton Eucalyptus sp. leaf extract to the attacking activity Paracoccus marginatus to the Acacia mangium nursery. The research was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pest, Agriculture Faculty of Riau University in March to April 2016. This research uses a Completely Randomized Design Method, which consists 4 treatments and 4 replicates with concentration levels of botanical pesticide. P0 = concentration Eucalyptus sp. leaf extract 0 g/l of water; P1 = 10 g/l of water; P2 = 20 g/l of water; P3 = 30 g/l of water. The results showed that the application of Eucalyptus sp. leaf extract at the concentration of 30 g/l water is the best concentration in controlling Paracoccus marginatus with results initial time of death fastest is 18.25 hours, the fastest time of turning off 50% (LT50) is 56.50 hours and total mortality amounted to 90.00%. Keywords: Acacia mangium, Paracoccus marginatus, Eucalyptus sp., botanical insectiside

Abstract

Banana are plant that bear fruit only once in its life cycle. Farmer usually replace with a new banana plant to maximize land or planting cycle, without managing to take advantage of the waste. Peat soil is a slow process of decomposition, has a low pH (acid), the poor in a number of nutrient both macro and micro, so that the plant growth is inhibited by using the peat medium, it is necessary to look for an alternative method in order to get a good seedling medium. This study aimed to determine the best dosage for seedling growth Jabon (Anthocephalus cadamba Miq.). This study used a completely randomized design (CRD), consisting of 4 treatments and 10 replications. T0= without giving compost banana trunk; T1=125g/polybag; T2=250g/polybag; T3=375g/polybag. The result showed that administration of a dose of compost banana trunk 375g/polybag on peat medium was the best treatment in the observation parameters, height gain (4.80 cm), the increase in diameter (3.21 mm), seedling dry weight (23.25 g), the ratio ofthe root crown (2.44 g). Abstract

Dyera costulata Hook is one of the priority tree species that have a high enough potensial to be developed, because wood of Dyera costulata Hook has a high economic value and its existence is endangered. Based on threat category of population according to the IUCN, species of Dyera costulata Hook included in the category nearly threatened. Arboretum is one type of ex-situ conservation. Ex-situ conservation purpose is to protect and preserve the species, especially the flora and fauna that are rare. Purpose of the implementation of this study was to determine the availability, amount and dominance of Dyera costulata Hook found in the arboretum of Riau University. Techniques of data collection is done by using the census method. The results showed that there are only 3 rods Dyera costulata Hook (0,17 %) whereas 1.789 rods (99,83 %) is a type of non jelutung. INP at a rate of 0 % seedling, sapling rate of 0 %, 1,15 % for poles rate and tree level of 0 %. Keywords : inventore, rare, Dyera costulata Hook, arboretum.

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of compost fertilizer of oil palm empty bunch are mixed with top soil as a growing medium to promote growth and development of gaharu. This research is completely randomized experimental design (CRD), which consists of 4 treatment and 10 replicates, number of plants was 40. he treatments are: A0 = Without TKKS Compost, A1 = 25% TKKS Compost + 75% top soil, A2 = 50% TKKS Compost + 50% top soil, A3 = 75% TKKS Compost + 25% top soil. Based on the results of this research can be concluded that fertilization with compost of oil  palm empty bunch are mixed with top soil as a growing medium for seedlings of gaharu able to provide a complete nutrient, so the growth and development of gaharu for the better. The Treatment fertilizing with compost Tankos 75% were mixed with 25% top soil is a treatment that is able to give effect to the high growth of seedlings of gaharu which amounted to 5.08 cm, diameter growth of seedlings of gaharu which is equal to 0.15 mm and dry weight of the plant which amounted to 2.03 g. Keywords: Compost Tankos, Top Soil, Seeds of Gaharu

Abstract

Mangrove forest in the TelukPambang Village, Sub District of Bantan, Bengkalis District is managed by KelompokPengelola Mangrove (KPM) Belukap. KPM Belukap is an organization which is formed through a Co- Fish project’s program (rural development programs in the field of fisheries ). KPM Belukap has the purpose of managing mangrove forests (mangroves) that utilization is done wisely to ensure the balance of supply by continuing to maintain and protect the mangrove forest areas, improving the welfare of mangrove wood utilization users, monitoring and oversight of utilization of mangrove forests, as a place of discussion about mangrove forests. This study aims to determine the form and level of community participation, in this case KPM Belukap, to determine the forms of participation and a qualitative descriptive analysis was used and to measure the level of participation Likert scale was used. Analysis of Likert scale is able to indicate clearly the level of participation of members KPM Belukap on each form of participation which are planning , implementation , and utilization . The level of participation was obtained from the factors that influence which are knowledge and expertise , occupation , education , and culture ( the belief in a particular culture).  The results showed that the forms of public participation in the preservation of mangrove forests which is managed by KPM Belukap are planning, implementation, and utilization. The level of community’s participation in the conservation of mangrove forests which is managed by KPM Belukap is in the middle participation category with 14 people out of  20 respondents.
