Abstract

Lakum fruit (Cayratia trifolia L. (Domin)) has secondary metabolite compounds that are beneficial to health, one of which is a hepatoprotector. This study was conducted to prove the potential of hepatoprotective activity of lakum fruit methanol extract based on the value of SGPT and SGOT enzyme. The research method used a pre-posttest randomized control group design with a sample of 35 male rats divided into five treatment groups: solvent control group (CMC 0.5%); positive control group (HEPA-Q®); treatment group extract (0,575; 1,15; 1,725 mg/g BW). The treatment of induction of paracetamol and methanol extract of Cayratia trifolia fruit was carried out for 7 days respectively. The results showed that the dose of 1,15 mg/g BW of Cayratia trifolia fruit methanol extract had the most effective deterioration of SGOT and SGPT values with a percentage reduction of SGOT of 49.3% and SGPT of 51.8% (p <0.05) which approached control positive (HEPA-Q®). Based on the research conducted, methanol extract of Cayratia trifolia fruit has the potential to be hepatoprotective.

Abstract

Rajungan (Portunus pelagicus) merupakan biota akuatik yang memiliki komoditas ekonomi dan dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat pesisir mangrove Kecamatan Batu Ampar, sehingga perlu mendapat pengawasan keberadaannya di alam. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah mengetahui kepadatan, pola sebaran, dan mengetahui korelasi karakteristik habitat rajungan dengan kepadatan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan selama bulan Desember 2019-Februari 2020. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada 3 stasiun penelitian menggunakan gill net berukuran 4 inchi. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis meliputi kepadatan dan pola sebaran. Korelasi karakteristik habitat dianalisis menggunakan Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Pengaruh stasiun dan waktu penangkapan dianalisis menggunakan Anova dua jalur. Kepadatan rajungan berkisar 222-2581 ind/km2 dan berbeda selama bulan Desember-Februari. Pola Sebaran pada bulan Desember dan Januari termasuk seragam dan mengelompok, bulan Februari memiliki sebaran seragam dan acak. Stasiun penelitian tidak berpengaruh terhadap kepadatan rajungan, sedangkan waktu penelitian di Pesisir Batu Ampar memberikan pengaruh. Kepadatan populasi rajungan dan pola sebaran rajungan berkorelasi positif terhadap kedalaman, kecerahan, salinitas, pH air, kecepatan arus air, kecepatan angin, suhu air, DO, dan CO2 bebas.

Abstract

Information on the character of the stingless bee nest entrance (Hymenoptera: Apidae: Meliponinae) as a characteristic for identifying stingless bee species has never been carried out in depth. The purpose of this study was to determine the morphological characteristics of the nest entrance that differentiate between stingless bee species found in the Belaban Resort conservation area, Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Park. The research was conducted on March, 16–26 2022. The method used in this study was the cruising method by following the direction of the Belaban Resort interpretation route. Data analysis was performed with PAST 4.03 software. Based on sampling and species identification, 32 nest entrances were found from 7 stingless bees species, namely Homotrigona fimbriata (Smith), Pariotrigona pendleburyi (Schwarz), Tetragonilla collina (Smith), Tetragonula iridipennis Smith, T. melanocephala (Gribodo), T. melina (Gribodo), and Tetrigona apicalis (Smith). PCA results show that the most prominent morphometric characters in PC 1 (eigenvalue = 4.89; % variance = 44.51%) which can be used as identifiers for each stingless bee nest entrance width of the nest entrance opening cavity  (0.66), color (0.78), sun exposure (0.85), and shape of nest entrance funnel (0.57). This research shows the variation of meristic and morphometric characters of stingless bee nest entrance. However, identification for stingless bee species based on nest entrance characters can't be used validly so it only as a provisional estimate.

Abstract

Orangutan merupakan salah satu satwa arboreal pemakan buah-buahan atau frugivora. Ketiadaan buah-buahan pada musim tertentu menyebabkan perubahan metabolisme tubuh orangutan. Indikator perubahan metabolisme tubuh tersebut dapat dideterminasi melalui analisis urine. Pemeriksaan kadar glukosa, keton dan urinalisis lain dapat memberikan gambaran status kesehatan orangutan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji kadar glukosa, keton, berat jenis, sedimen, warna dan bau urine orangutan di Stasiun Riset Cabang Panti, Taman Nasional Gunung Palung, serta mempelajari hubungan antara kadar glukosa dengan total makan, jenis kelamin, dan usia orangutan. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada bulan Agustus hingga Oktober 2022 dengan metode purposive sampling. Hasil pemeriksaan glukosa urine menggunakan metode Benedict pada 10 individu orangutan menunjukkan kadar glukosa berkisar antara 3,18–31,8 g/dl. Hasil positif keton pada individu Bibi, orangutan betina dewasa, mempunyai kadar keton 15 mg/dl (small). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat hubungan antara kadar glukosa dengan total asupan makan, jenis kelamin, dan usia orangutan. Bagian yang paling dominan dimakan oleh orangutan yaitu daging buah (54%) dan umbut (15%). Hasil parameter lain seperti bau urine tidak menyengat dan warna urine jernih sampai kekuningan.

Abstract

Bajakah tampala plant (Spatholobus littoralis Hassk.) has been used for traditional medicine by the Kalimantan Dayak tribe in the treatment of cancer. This study aimed to find out the potential of ethanol extract of the stem of Bajakah tampala (Spatholobus littoralis Hassk.) as an anti-inflammatory agent in carrageenan-induced mice. The method used was a Completely Randomized Design with five treatments and five replications. The treatments consisted of a water-treated mouse as a negative control, sodium diclofenac 30,8 mg kg-1 as a positive control, and an extract of bajakah dose 2.5; 250; 1250 mg kg-1 BW. The dose of bajakah extract was given orally one hour before carrageenan induction. The inflammation induction used the Winter method by injecting 0.15 ml of 2% carrageenan suspension into the soles of mice. The diameter of edema was measured for 210 minutes. The results showed that the diameter of the mice soles showed a significant increase in all groups after the carrageenan injection. The value of AUC (Area Under the Curve) of bajakah extract dose (2.5; 250; 1250 mg kg-1) from the 150th minute to the 210th minute did not show significant differences from one another. The sodium diclofenac as positive control gave the lowest total AUC value of 236 mm.minute, followed by bajakah extract at a dose of 2.5 mg kg-1 BW of 239.22 mm.minute. The calculation results of the percentage of the inflammation inhibition showed that the administration of ethanol extract of the stem of Bajakah, Spatholobus littoralis, at the lowest dose of 2.5 mg kg-1 BW provide the best inflammation inhibition with 19.21% inhibitory value, nearly approaching the positive control of diclofenac sodium with an inhibitory value of 21.53%.

Abstract

West Kalimantan experiences a tropical climate characterized by elevated humidity, which creates an environment conducive to the proliferation of Pityriasis versicolor due to Malassezia furfur. Plants with medicinal properties that include alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, terpenoids, tannins, and quinones, such as sembung rambat (Mikania micrantha Kunth.), represent promising sources of antifungal compounds. This research sought to assess the antifungal efficacy of the methanol extract from sembung rambat leaves against Malassezia furfur in a laboratory setting and to identify its minimum inhibitory concentration. The disc diffusion technique was employed with extract concentrations of 20%, 25%, 30%, and 35%. Ketoconazole at 2% acted as the positive control, while sterile distilled water was utilized as the negative control. The diameters of the inhibition zones were evaluated using the Kruskal-Wallis test, accompanied by Duncan's multiple range test. The findings indicated that all concentrations of the extract successfully suppressed the growth of Malassezia furfur. The minimum inhibitory concentration was established at 20%, resulting in an inhibition zone measuring 0.48 cm in diameter after 48 hours of incubation. The methanol extract of sembung rambat leaves displayed a fungistatic action against Malassezia furfur in vitro.

Abstract

Potensi alami mangrove di Desa Sengkubang, Kecamatan Mempawah Hilir, Kabupaten Mempawah sangat tinggi. Aspek pembibitan merupakan aspek yang sangat penting dalam persemaian mangrove. Kualitas bibit yang diproduksi sangat menentukan kualitas tanaman selanjutnya. Akan tetapi, pengetahuan tentang pembibitan mangrove masyarakat di Desa Sengkubang masih terbatas. Oleh karena itu, tujuan pelaksanaan PKM ini yaitu menambah pengetahuan tentang pembibitan mangrove di Desa Sengkubang. Kegiatan yang dilakukan meliputi persiapan (Survei likasi, penjadwalan, persiapan alat dan bahan), pelaksanaan (penyuluhan, demonstrasi, pelatihan, pendampingan), evaluasi (wawancara dan pengisian kuesioner). Kegiatan pelatihan ini dihadiri oleh 25 peserta. Kegiatan pemberdayaan ini dinilai memberikan respon yang sangat memuaskan. Pengetahuan peserta tentang pembibitan dan penanaman mangrove mencapai 86,18 %. Perserta berharap dari hasil kegiatan ini dapat meningkatkan keberhasilan hidup mangrove sehingga dapat menambah luas ekosistem mangrove, menstabilkan garis pantai, serta meningkatkan keanekaragaman hayati di Desa Sengkubang Mempawah.
