Abstract

Jamu, a traditional Indonesian herbal medicine, is widely used in traditional healing practices nationwide, including the Banyumas Regency. The Indonesian government has implemented restrictions that forbid the inclusion of medicinal compounds in jamu, as their unregulated usage poses possible health hazards. Cyproheptadine hydrochloride is a frequently encountered medicinal component in appetite-stimulating herbs. However, the extent of adulteration of cyproheptadine hydrochloride in appetite-stimulating herbs marketed in Banyumas Regency is undisclosed. This study purposed to analyze and quantify the presence of cyproheptadine hydrochloride in appetite-stimulating herbs that are available for sale in the Banyumas Regency. The aim was to inform customers about these herbs' possible pharmaceutical ingredient content. The study utilized a qualitative analysis of thin-layer chromatography (TLC) and a quantitative analysis with a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Fourteen samples of appetite-stimulating herbs in powdered, capsule, and tablet forms were gathered from different areas within the Banyumas Regency. Qualitative analysis revealed cyproheptadine hydrochloride in two herbal samples, SNM TG and SNM AM. The quantitative examination revealed that the content of cyproheptadine hydrochloride in SNM TG was 10.92 mg/5g, whereas in SNM AM, it was 7.93 mg/5g. These findings indicate that there have been breaches of regulations, and individuals who ingest these herbs may be susceptible to health problems. Further investigation is required to analyze a broader range of appetite-stimulating herbal samples, particularly those in liquid form, to ascertain the level of contamination with cyproheptadine hydrochloride and provide essential data for health regulations.

Abstract

Introduction: Public health literacy regarding the prevention and control of gout arthritis remains limited, while existing educational media are largely non-digital and do not adequately support independent learning. Community-based interactive e-modules are therefore considered an innovative approach to improving health literacy and promoting preventive behavioral change. Objective: This Community Service Program aimed to provide training and mentoring to the community in utilizing e-modules as tools for independent health education. Method: The program employed an educational–participatory approach involving members of the Hypertension Care Group. The implementation stages included program socialization, development of interactive e-modules, training on e-module utilization, measurement of participants’ uric acid levels, ongoing mentoring through a WhatsApp group, and evaluation of participant behaviors. Result: The results showed that participants had a mean age of 60.42 years, an average body weight of 60.96 kg, and mean blood pressure of 139.47/89.44 mmHg. Female participants predominated (98 participants; 73.3%). Among participants with normal uric acid levels, most exercised regularly more than three times per week, had never undergone routine health check-ups, did not consume uric acid–lowering medication, and did not avoid high-purine foods. A similar pattern was observed among participants with elevated uric acid levels. The mean uric acid levels were 7.77 mg/dL in male participants and 6.66 mg/dL in female participants. Conclusion: The achieved outputs included community-based interactive educational e-modules, improved public health literacy and the submission of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for the developed e-modules.

Abstract

Inflammation is a response to damage to the tissue and infections that occur in the body's cells. Seagzador leaves Enhalus acoroides) contain secondary metabolites that are thought to have the potential as an anti -inflammatory agent. This study has the aim to understand the effect of the type of solvent on methanol extract, ethyl acetate and n-hexane seagrass leaf (Enhalus acoroides) on the foot edema of the wistar strain mice that is induced by carrageenan and know the value of AUC and %Dai. Anti -inflammatory testing is done by creating artificial edema in the foot of mice through 1%induction of carrageenan. The treatment is given to the test animals with the provisions: Group 1 is used as a negative control by administering 0.5%CMC Na, group 2 acts as a positive control that receives Na Diclofenac while groups 3, 4, and 5 are given methanol extract, ethyl acetate extracts, and N-hexane extract from Enhalus acoroides leaves dose 875 mg/kgBB. From the results of the study it is known that methanol solvents are more effective in inhibiting inflammation compared to extracts originating from ethyl acetate and n-hexane with an AUC value of 0.019 and %DAI of 39.834 %. Keywords: Anti-inflammatory, Enhalus acoroides leaves, %DAI

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Senior nursing students possibly experience stress due to the difficulties encountered in the process of writing a thesis. The difficulties experienced are commonly making research background, looking for the related theory and proper methods, having pressure from supervisor, feeling saturated, and many more. The stress experienced by students can also cause various responses such as physical, psychological, and social. Purpose : The aim of this study is to analyze the correlation among stress levels andphysio-psycho-social responses of nursing students undertaking thesis. Methods : This analitic cross sectional study was conducted at Harapan Bangsa Institute of Health Sciences, Purwokerto on May-July 2018. A total of 117 senior nursing students undertaking a thesis were taken by simple random sampling. Research data were collected utilizing stress questionnaire and physio-psycho-social responses. The data analysis used was univariate analysis with frequencydistribution, and bivariate analysis used was Spearman Correlation. Result : Findings of this research indicated that the senior nursing students undertaking a thesis experienced moderate level of stress (51,3%) and excellent physio-psycho-social responses (73,5%). In addition, this research showed a significant relationship between stress levels with physio-psycho-social responses (p value=0,000; r=0,508). Conclusion : The results indicated that senior students undertaking thesis can experience stress varying from mildto moderate that potentially cause physio-psycho-social responses
