Abstract

This reserach aims to examine the effectiveness of implementing the Project-Based Learning (PJBL) model in enhancing the students’ creativity at vocational high schools (SMK) with a Islamic Boarding School context system, specifically at SMKS Islam Pesantren Alam Indonesia. Vocational education, particularly within Islamic Boarding School context SMKS, often emphasizes the development of technical skills; however, the main challenge lies in how to also cultivate the students’ creativity. Using a quantitative approach with a descriptive quantitative design, this research explores the relationship between the implementation of the PJBL model and the enhancement of the students’ creativity. Data were collected through questionnaires that measured the students’ creativity across four main dimensions: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The results show that the implementation of the PJBL model has a significant impact on the students’ creativity at SMKS Islam Pesantren Alam Indonesia. Regression analysis revealed that each application of the PJBL model is estimated to increase the students’ creativity by 8.952 points. The t-test results also indicated a very low significance value (p < 0.05), confirming that the influence of the PJBL model on the students’ creativity is statistically significant. The most prominent dimension of creativity observed was fluency, followed by flexibility, originality, and elaboration—all of which fell within the "Good" category. This study reinforces the evidence that the PJBL model is effective in developing the students’ creativity, which is crucial for their competitiveness in an increasingly demanding job market. Additionally, this research is expected to provide new insights into curriculum development and more relevant teaching methods for Islamic Boarding School context vocational schools, as well as serve as a reference for educators and policymakers in designing more innovative and applicable learning strategies

Abstract

The Painting Technology course in the Automotive Engineering Education Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM) requires students to master practical painting skills. However, a gap between theory and practice still exists. This study applies an "Automotive Painting" job sheet based on the direct instruction (DI) model to improve practical learning outcomes on sheet metal media. A quantitative descriptive approach with a one-shot case study design was employed. The subjects were 20 students in the even semester of 2025/2026 enrolled in the Painting Technology course. The course was conducted over 16 meetings (5 theory+demonstration, 2 midterm/final exams, 8 practicum sessions using DI-based job sheets). Instruments included observation sheets, product assessment rubrics (30×40 cm sheet steel panels), student response questionnaires, and quality measurements (gloss meter, coating thickness gauge, cross-cut adhesion test). Data were analyzed descriptively. Results: The average student practicum score reached 84.6 (scale 100) with a mastery rate of 95%. The most common defects were dust nibs (40% of panels) and mild orange peel (25%), which could be corrected during the finishing stage. Final product quality showed an average gloss value of 86 GU (60°), coating thickness of 122 µm, and adhesion category 4B (ASTM D3359). Student responses to the DI-based job sheet were very positive (91% agreed that the job sheet was easy to follow). This study provides the first empirical evidence of the application of an "Automotive Painting" job sheet based on direct instruction in a painting technology course at a university with a large class size in Eastern Indonesia.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi kewirausahaan siswa SMK melalui pelatihan perawatan cat kendaraan. Seiring dengan pesatnya pertumbuhan industri otomotif di Indonesia, kebutuhan akan tenaga kerja terampil di bidang perawatan cat kendaraan semakin meningkat, namun kompetensi teknis siswa SMK di bidang ini masih perlu dikembangkan. Selain itu, peluang usaha di bidang detailer dan perawatan cat kendaraan terbuka luas, namun belum banyak siswa yang memiliki keterampilan dan keberanian untuk memanfaatkannya. Kegiatan PKM ini dilaksanakan di SMK Negeri 5 Gowa dengan melibatkan 20 siswa jurusan Teknik Kendaraan Ringan (TKR) melalui serangkaian pelatihan yang mencakup penyuluhan materi perawatan cat, demonstrasi teknik poles dan waxing, praktik langsung perawatan cat kendaraan, serta sesi kewirausahaan untuk membangun motivasi berusaha. Hasil pelaksanaan menunjukkan bahwa peserta mengalami peningkatan pemahaman tentang teknik perawatan cat dan pengenalan alat sebesar rata-rata 25%, peningkatan keterampilan praktik langsung sebesar 35%, serta tumbuhnya minat berwirausaha pada 80% peserta. Program ini diharapkan dapat menjadi model pelatihan terintegrasi antara keterampilan teknis dan jiwa kewirausahaan bagi siswa SMK.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas sekolah dalam pelacakan alumni melalui pelatihan tracer study di SMK Negeri 10 Makassar. Tracer study merupakan instrumen penting untuk mengukur relevansi kompetensi lulusan dengan kebutuhan dunia kerja, namun banyak SMK masih mengalami kendala dalam pengelolaan data alumni yang sistematis dan berkelanjutan. Mitra kegiatan ini adalah SMK Negeri 10 Makassar yang memiliki jumlah lulusan cukup besar tetapi belum memiliki sistem tracer study yang terintegrasi. Pelatihan dilaksanakan dengan metode partisipatif melalui tiga tahap utama: sosialisasi pentingnya tracer study, pelatihan teknis penggunaan instrumen dan aplikasi pengumpulan data alumni, serta pendampingan pengolahan dan analisis data. Peserta pelatihan terdiri dari 15 guru dan 3 staf tata usaha. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta tentang konsep tracer study sebesar 45% (dari nilai rata-rata pre-test 55 menjadi 80 pada post-test), serta kemampuan teknis dalam merancang kuesioner, mengumpulkan data melalui berbagai saluran (WhatsApp, Google Form, telepon), dan menyajikan data dalam bentuk laporan sederhana. Selain itu, sekolah berhasil mendata 60% alumni dari tiga angkatan terakhir yang sebelumnya hanya terdokumentasi 20%. Program ini diharapkan dapat menjadi model bagi SMK lain dalam membangun sistem pelacakan alumni yang efektif dan berkelanjutan.
