Abstract

This study aims to develop an inclusive learning model and media based on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) for blind and deaf-mute students in the Special Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Islam Nusantara. The study uses a qualitative descriptive approach and follows the ADDIE development model. Data were collected through needs assessment, interviews, and observation. The results show that blind students require auditory-based media compatible with assistive technologies, while deaf-mute students require media emphasizing visuals and text. The developed products include accessible digital modules and captioned videos usable by all students. Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to examine the implementation of employment rights for persons with disabilities, particularly among graduates of private Special Schools (SLB) in Ciamis Regency, Indonesia. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. The data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that although national regulations provide a strong legal basis, the practical implementation of employment rights remains limited owing to low societal perceptions, lack of multi-stakeholder synergy, and limited access to job information. Only approximately 18% of private SLB graduates managed to secure permanent jobs within one year of graduation. Therefore, more intensive collaboration between special schools, local governments, and business partners is needed to improve the economic participation of persons with disabilities.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of parents in improving adaptive behavior as preparation for work among mildly intellectually disabled students in grade XII at SLB Amalia Bhakti Conggeang. In the context of vocational education, consistent parenting based on positive reinforcement has proven effective in improving the independence and life skills of children with intellectual disabilities. A qualitative approach with case studies was chosen to gain a deeper understanding of the role of parents in supporting their children at home and at school. The research findings indicate that parents who actively engage in daily activities, such as providing opportunities for independent practice and applying positive reinforcement, significantly contribute to the development of adaptive behavior in children. However, challenges faced by parents, such as limited knowledge, time, and resources, hinder the implementation of effective parenting strategies. Therefore, this study recommends the development of parent training programs that can improve their understanding of how to support the development of children with mild intellectual disabilities, as well as strengthen collaboration between parents, educators, and the community. With the right support, children with mild intellectual disabilities can develop the skills necessary to adapt to the world of work.

Abstract

Inclusive and equitable higher education is an urgency that cannot be overlooked, especially in efforts to guarantee the human rights of persons with disabilities. Legal reform is essential to create an educational environment that supports equal access, as mandated by Law No. 8 of 2016 and Government Regulation No. 13 of 2020. The persistent barriers, such as physical, social, and non-adaptive curricula, lead to inequitable access for persons with disabilities in higher education institutions. This reform is not only crucial to protect their rights but also to encourage their participation in broader social and economic development. This study aims to analyze the implementation of legal reform policies in creating inclusive access to higher education for persons with disabilities, as well as to identify the challenges still faced. The research employs a normative juridical method. The study finds that constitutional legal reform in Indonesia aims to ensure equal access to higher education for persons with disabilities through inclusive and non-discriminatory policies. Through regulations such as Law No. 8 of 2016 and Government Regulation No. 13 of 2020, the state is committed to providing disability-friendly facilities and adaptive curricula. This approach ensures that the rights of persons with disabilities are protected, allowing them to fully participate in higher education.

Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis follows the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that TBM Al-Istiqomah has implemented various strategies to improve reading interest among primary school-aged children, such as providing engaging reading materials, organizing appealing and interactive literacy activities, and collaborating with PKBM institutions and other non-formal educational organizations. However, several supporting factors and challenges have been identified in these efforts, including limited funding for development, a lack of human resources, and difficulties in establishing partnerships with local government authorities
