Abstract

One of the truths implied in Scripture Veda is the doctrine or concept of cosmology (creation of the universe). Cosmology is one of the important knowledge in Hinduism, because cosmology not only provides knowledge about the creation of the universe, cosmology can further explain the nature of actual human will, which is still difficult to understand.Doctrine cosmology in Bali is expressed in local theology. Particularly lontar or texts Siwaistik always focuses on the teachings or knowledge of the Lord (Shiva) and knowledge of the way to achieve them as well as the creation of the universe, be it Bhuana Agung or Bhuana Alit. For this reason the right knowledge and also appropriately implement this concept, in particular the concept of Hindu cosmology in the text Bhuana Kosa very important to understanding in daily life towards a harmonious life and increased devotion to God.The concept of Hindu cosmology In the Text Bhuana Kosa is taking the concept of Tattwa Rudra. Tattwa Rudra occur from Shiva as the supreme reality, then united with Rudra became Purusa, of Purusa born Awyakta, of awyakta born Buddhi, of Buddhi (as a symbol of sattwam) was born Ahamkara / Ahangkara (symbol tattoo), then born Panca Tan Matra as a symbol tamas, manas (mind) and Panca Maha Bhuta.

Abstract

Abstract

Human is a perfect being compared to other beings. Human perfection can be seen from the ability to think in solving the problems it faces. One of them is the problem of subjectivity. The problem of our self view to the others. It can not be denied in almost every life, most human problems that come to the surface as a form of conflict because of the inequality status in religious, social, political and economic. The doctrine of ahimsa taught by Gandhi to the world is the core of the various spiritual social experiences that we can make as the basic philosophy building, nurturing and fostering of tolerance life. By doing spiritual disciplines like prayer, service, devotion, loyal to the truth and de- veloping universal love as a form of spiritual experiences, the life of the universe will be filled with peace and harmony.

Abstract

The Ātmabodha is a sanskrit classic text written by Śaṅkarācārya containing the teachings on Ātman. The main purpose of the text is how to teach oneself to be able to experience Ātman through the knowledge of it and at the same time through this knowledge oneself can eliminate various forms of upādhi that have been covering up the true nature of the Self. The Ātmabodha is also a meditative text compiled in simple prose to make it easier for spiritual practitioners who read it to be used as a contemplative medium in receiving knowledge about Ātman. This paper aims to comprehensively analyze the essence of the teachings contained in the Ātmabodha. The perspective of Hindu theology will be the point of view in this paper, with the theory of structural semiotics and vedic hermeneutics to assist the analysis. Brahman, Ātma, upādhi, and the pursuit of realization of Brahman (Mokṣa) are central themes in the analysis of the Ātmabodha.

Abstract

Various lontar and Tattwa scripts in Bali are the fruit of local wisdom inspired by the teachings of the Vedic scriptures. This local script is based on the truth that has been guiding most Balinese people. One of the Tattwa truths written in the Vedas is the concept of yoga as a means to attain spiritual awareness. Yoga offers a holistic, practical and religious approach that aims to help all components of the body work together in harmony. This text contains theology, cosmology, and practice of the teachings of Prayogasandhi (tapa, brata, yoga and samadhi) knowledge to save souls from misery. This study aims to understand the concept of Yoga in the Tattwa Jñana Script as a way to achieve spiritual awareness. The theory used is structural theory and semiotic theory. This study uses the method of collecting data documents and literature. The data analysis technique was carried out qualitatively by describing it descriptively. The results of this study indicate that: (1) The Tattwa Jñana script consists of prose which is divided into several chapters, and consists of 74 slokas in Old Javanese. (2) The concept of yoga in the Tattwa Jñana script is Prayogasandhi. Prayogasandhi is a means to attain spiritual awareness through tapas, brata, yoga and samadhi to Iswara (God). Prayogasandhi needs to be followed by discipline, true knowledge (samyagjna) and contemplation.

Abstract

The background of this research is that, apart from interpreting the verses related to God and yoga practice contextually, it also aims to analyse the metaphysics of yoga in the Gheranda Samhita book so that the knowledge gained by academics and yoga practitioners is more comprehensive. Metaphysics is full of discussions relating to God, the soul, eschatology, and illusory things. Moreover, if you study it using the postulates in a script as a limitation to sharpen the perspective that will be born, one script that can be used as a reference for understanding the dimensions of metaphysics is the Gheranda Samhita. Through descriptive qualitative methods, using hermeneutic theory, this research found the following findings: First, apart from Shiva as an aspect of God's representation as described in the Gheranda Samhita script, there are still other aspects of God that can represent His greatness. Second, it is through soul awareness that humans can achieve perfect awareness in living life. Third, there are no shackles like Maya, the term which is identified with the words illusion or bondage. Fourth, karma: actions in life. Fifth, Ahamkara, is another term for ego, and Sixth, Brahman and its Prakrti activities.

Abstract

The Warak Keuron ceremony is a ceremony that has only been implemented since the 1970s.  Before the 1970s, Hindus in Bali did not really question miscarriages.  Miscarriage is considered a normal phenomenon that does not need to be held a special ceremony, because it is considered non-fatiguing.  However, as time goes by, it turns out that many women after experiencing a miscarriage experience various problems, psychological disorders, trauma, even hallucinations and other difficulties.  According to sacred Hindu literature, miscarriage is an event that causes sadness/fatigue both in the person experiencing it and in their environment.  So to get rid of it, a ceremony called the Warak Karuron Ceremony needs to be held.  The aim is to eliminate pain/fatigue for the mother, so that she does not continue to experience psychological disorders which have very broad impacts.  And also to free the baby's spirit which is still trapped in its prakerti body, for this reason its prakerti elements consisting of the Panca Maha Bhuta elements are returned to their origin, the baby's spirit is purified so that it can continue its journey to the sunialoka realm.

Abstract

Hinduism believes that the concept of God is a fundamental value in religious practice (Heriyanti, 2020). Hindu theology is a universal truth about the essence of God, derived from the sacred scriptures of Hinduism (Vedas), which discuss the philosophy of divinity, known as Brahma Vidya. Brahma Vidya is the knowledge that guides humans toward awareness of their spiritual purpose. The teaching of truth is considered one of the ultimate goals in religious life, achieved through self-discipline, purification of the mind, and harmony between body and soul. One way to support this teaching is through the practice of yoga. Yoga Bhuwana Prawerti is a sequence of yoga practices rooted in the Watukaru tradition. The effective transmission and explanation of Yoga Bhuwana Prawerti to the community require an appropriate method. Therefore, this research aims to provide an accurate explanation through a study of Hindu theology in Yoga Bhuwana Prawerti of the Watukaru tradition at Pasraman Seruling Dewata, Tabanan, Bali. This research explores: 1) the existence of Yoga Bhuwana Prawerti of the Watukaru tradition; 2) the religious symbols embedded in Yoga Bhuwana Prawerti; and 3) the meaning of Hindu theology in Yoga Bhuwana Prawerti. Theories applied in this study include the Theory of Existence, the Theory of Religion, and the Theory of Symbols to analyze the research problems. The method used in this research is qualitative, involving several stages: determining the research type, identifying primary and secondary data sources, selecting research instruments, collecting data through interviews, observation, and literature studies, followed by data analysis and presentation of findings. Yoga Bhuwana Prawerti, often referred to as the "Yoga of the Universe's Rotation," is a form of yoga developed at Pasraman Seruling Dewata, consisting of six movements, each beginning with a prayer. Each movement in Yoga Bhuwana Prawerti holds profound religious symbolism in the context of Hinduism. Hindu theology in Yoga Bhuwana Prawerti is reflected in the relationship between humans and nature. The practice of Yoga Bhuwana Prawerti demonstrates Hindu theological principles, such as the concept of Dharma. This yoga aims not only to achieve physical and mental balance but also to deepen the understanding of humanity's place in the spiritual cycle.
