Abstract

This study aims to measure and analyze the productivity level of water-based paint production at PT Pabrik Cat Tunggal Djaja Indah using the Objective Matrix (OMAX), Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methods. The research problem is based on the failure to achieve the water-based paint production target in several months during the period from July to December 2025. The OMAX method was used to measure productivity based on seven ratios, namely raw material utilization, working hours, production effectiveness, product quality, machine operating time, labor, and electrical energy. AHP was used to determine the priority weight of each criterion, while RCA through a Fishbone Diagram was used to identify the root causes of low productivity. The results showed that production productivity fluctuated, with the highest value recorded in September at 5.4559 and the lowest value recorded in July at 1.9783. Factors affecting low productivity included inefficient raw material utilization, machine downtime, defective products, suboptimal labor utilization, and unstable electrical energy consumption. The proposed improvements include raw material supervision, implementation of preventive maintenance, improvement of operator skills, production quality control, SOP evaluation, and optimization of electrical energy use. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a basis for continuous improvement in water-based paint production productivity.

Abstract

PT. XYZ is a manufacturing company that operates in the production industry cardboard packaging. In its operations, the company often fails to meet its production target of 285,000 units per month. The current workforce allocation policy, which evenly distributes 15 workers across 5 work stations (3 operators each), is indicated as the cause of an imbalance in operational workloads. This study aims to mathematically analyze workloads to determine the optimal workforce requirements using the Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) method. The research process began with a time study to determine standard times for each workstation. The standard times and production targets were then used to calculate FTE indices, which classified workloads into underload, normal, or overload categories. Based on the analysis results, it was found that the sewing station was overloaded with an FTE index of 3.72, which caused a bottleneck, while the other four stations were underloaded. Through the proposed improvement to the FTE-based workforce allocation, the company actually only needs a total of 10 workers, broken down as follows: 1 person at the cutting station, 2 in printing, 2 in punching, 4 in sewing, and 1 in finishing. Implementing this proposal not only results in an efficiency gain of 5 employees but has also been shown to increase maximum production capacity from 229,894 units to 306,526 units per month, thereby enabling the company to meet its order fulfillment targets without requiring additional overtime hours.

Abstract

UD. Gajah Delta is a manufacturing company whose main products are rantang and bakso steamers. Based on the current situation in the field, UD Gajah Delta has difficulty meeting market demand. Gajah Delta berjuang untuk memenuhi permintaan pasar. This is thought to be due to an imbalance in workload between workstations, as well as suboptimal planning of the number of employees. The aim of this study is to determine the optimal number of employees to meet customer demand. Based on the workload measurement using the Full Time Equivalent (FTE) method, two workstations were found to be normal: the cutting station (1.24) and the finishing station (1.22). However, the workstations for lid production (2.68) and sieve production (4.25) were categorised as overload. Meanwhile, the handle production station had an FTE value of 5.77 and the pot body production station had an FTE value of 8.98. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the number of employees at the stations for making handles and making the body of the steamer.

Abstract

The powder coating process in automotive component production plays a critical role in determining final product quality. CV Aji Batara Perkasa Mandiri faces high product defect rates (average 11.22%) in the finishing process. This study aims to optimize powder coating process parameters (pretreatment stages, spray gun pressure, nozzle distance, and curing oven temperature) to simultaneously minimize Defect Rate, Rework Rate, and Scrap Rate, and calculate Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) savings. The method used is the integration of the Taguchi Method and Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) with an L9(3⁴) Orthogonal Array experimental design. Results show that the pretreatment factor is the most dominant parameter (41.09% contribution). The optimal parameter combination obtained is A2B2C3D1 (5-stage pretreatment, 2.5 bar pressure, 25 cm nozzle distance, and 160°C curing temperature). Implementation of these parameters successfully reduced the defect rate to 5.93% (56.46% reduction) and achieved COPQ savings of Rp 23,331,167 per month (61.51%).

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the comparison between actual and planned labor productivity in the Police Housing Construction Project in Samarinda as a basis for assessing construction efficiency. Actual productivity data were obtained from field observations, daily reports, and measurement of work volume and duration. Planned productivity was calculated using the Unit Price Analysis (AHS), project scheduling, and manpower planning. The results show significant differences between actual and planned productivity in various work categories. Actual structural productivity ranges from 0.71 to 1.20 m³/day, which is lower than the planned productivity of 1.456–3.21 m³/day. Finishing works also display substantial deviation, with actual productivity of 27.52–80 m²/day compared to the planned 44–135 m²/day. These discrepancies result in slower progress, increased risk of project delays, and reduced time management efficiency. Key factors contributing to productivity gaps include field conditions, weather disturbances, material mobilization, worker experience, and coordination effectiveness among subcontractors. The findings highlight the importance of periodic productivity control and improved field management to meet planned targets.
