Abstract

The potential of ornamental plants can be used as Traditional medicine and does not cause side effects. It is important to take an inventory of the types of ornamental plants used as medicine by the Anjani Village community. This research method is qualitative or often referred to as Naturalistic research. Collecting data using observation and interview techniques while determining the Snow Ball Sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out interactively through the process of reducing data, display data, and verification data. The results showed that there were 14 types of ornamental plants from 12 families which were used as Traditional medicine bye pople of Anjani Village. Ornamental plants identified with herbal habits were 45% and those with shrubs and shrubs habits were 55%.

Abstract

The world population is predicted to continue increasing. Therefore, discovering another energy resource instead of fossil oil is essential. The geothermal resource can be used as alternative renewable energy. To identify the complex geothermal system in East Java as alternative renewable energy based on the gravity anomaly. This research investigated the Gunung Pandan geothermal system. The geophysical method was used which is the gravity method. The subsurface information was investigated using the Bouger Gravity Anomaly (ABL) method. The results show that the distribution of the gravitational anomaly in the Mount Pandan complex has a residual anomaly value of -3.2 mgal to 11.7 mgal. The residual anomalous contours represent positive clusters identified as intrusive rocks that heated the fluid around the fault and the suspected reservoir. thus, forming the manifestation of Banyukuning and Selogajah with the flow zone of each manifestation classified as an outflow zone for the manifestation of Banyukuning and upflow for the manifestation of Selogajah.

Abstract

Bay leaf (Syzygium polyanthum) is a plant that is easy to grow in the tropics and is often found in forests and in home gardens. Bay leaves contain ingredients that can inhibit the growth of fungi such as flavonoids, tannins, and essential oils that have antibacterial and antiviral activity. The purpose of this study was to determine the minimum inhibitory level of ethanolic extract of bay leaf (Syzygium polyanthum) at a certain concentration that could inhibit the growth of the fungus Fusarium sp. Fusariun sp. Is one of several groups of fungi that can cause disease in plants. This fungus is also included in the turberculariaceae family because the fungus forms a fruiting body that forms a conidium called a sporodocium. Fusarium mushrooms have diversity, namely F. oxisporum, F. camptoceras, F. conentricum, F. musarium, F. proliferatum, F. semitectum, F. compactum, F. thapsinum, F. verticillioides, and F. subglutinans. This study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (RAK). The parameter used is the clear zone around the disc paper. The results obtained that bay leaf extract is able to inhibit the growth of fungi and has the potential as an alternative antifungal material.

Abstract

Tamarind (Tamarindus indica L.) can cure various diseases, one of which is diarrheal disease caused by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Tamarind fruit contains tannin compounds that have antibacterial abilities. This study aims to determine the inhibitory power of ethanol extract of young tamarind fruit against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria that cause diarrhea. The concentrations used in this study were 10%, 25%, 45%, 75% and 100%. The method used is the well diffusion method with 4 treatments and 4 repeats. The results showed that ethanol extracts of tamarind fruit young proved to be able to suppress the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria with the highest inhibitory zone of 19.85 mm. This inhibitory power is a strong category in inhibiting bacterial growth.

Abstract

Pathogens are one of the obstacles in shallot cultivation. One of them is Fusarium sp. which resulted in damage reaching more than 50-75%. The aim of this study was to determine the virulence level of the fungus Fusrium.solani.f.sp.cepae that causes fusrium wilt in shallot plants. The method used is an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) with two treatments: method of application and time of observation/measurement. The average incubation period of fusarium wilt disease on shallots without F.solani.f.sp.cepae treatment had no symptoms of attack, while those that were treated showed symptoms in a short time. The results showed that the pathogen F.solani.f.sp.cepae was able to attack plants with an average attack intensity of 4.22, meaning high attack intensity. Macroscopically identification of fungi that had grown on potato dextrose agar (PDA) medium was observed, observations starting from the shape of the mushroom colonies and the color of the underside of the mushroom colonies, while microscopically found insulating hyphae, forming branching and found macroconidia and microconidia spores.

Abstract

Tamarind leaves (Tamarindus indica L.) contain compounds including saponins, flavonoids, and tannins. The content of tannin compounds in tamarind leaf extract (Tamarindus indica L.) is known to be used as an antidiarrheal bioagent. This study aims to identify antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli bacteria based on the potential of tamarind leaves (Tamarindus indica L.) as an anti-diarrheal bioagent. The design of this research is an experimental laboratory with randomized group design. The samples in this study were divided into 2 control groups, namely negative control (sterile aquades), positive control (ampiciilin), and 3 treatment groups, namely old and young tamarind leaf extract groups with each concentration of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% with the number of samples for each treatment group as much as 3. Test the effectiveness of antimicrobials using the solid dilution method. The effectiveness of antimicrobials is demonstrated by the large diameter of the inhibitor on Muller Hilton Agar media. The results showed that the inhibitory power of young tamarind leaf extract ranged from 13.8 mm to 14.9 mm, while the inhibitory power of old tamarind leaf extract ranged from 10.7 mm to 11.9 mm, so that the inhibitory power of young tamarind leaf ethanol extract was greater than the type of old tamarind leaf ethanol’s extract.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase people's knowledge of how to do cupping properly and correctly, to create a healthy village during the pandemic, and as an effort to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 by promoting and preventive health measures. The method of implementing this service activity is by combining theories (discussion) 25% and practice 75%, as well as entrepreneurial provisions. There were 25 participants in the training. The evaluation instruments used were interviews, observation, and documentation. After all series of activities were carried out, the results of the service activity showed that the majority of participants had mastered the pre-cupping, cupping, and post-cupping procedures following the rules and procedures for the safety of the medical world.

Abstract

Ekosistem mangrove memiliki peran penting dalam menjaga keseimbangan ekologis kawasan pesisir sekaligus memberikan manfaat ekonomi bagi masyarakat. Namun, tekanan antropogenik seperti penebangan, alih fungsi lahan, dan pembangunan pesisir telah menyebabkan degradasi ekosistem mangrove di berbagai wilayah, termasuk di kawasan Ketapang Raya, Kabupaten Lombok Timur. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk merehabilitasi ekosistem mangrove melalui pendekatan revegetasi partisipatif serta meningkatkan kesadaran dan kapasitas masyarakat pesisir dalam pengelolaan lingkungan berkelanjutan. Metode yang digunakan meliputi survei lapangan, sosialisasi dan pelatihan, penanaman bibit mangrove (jenis Rhizophora mucronata dan Avicennia marina), pendampingan, serta monitoring pertumbuhan tanaman. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 3.000 bibit mangrove berhasil ditanam pada area seluas dua hektar dengan tingkat kelangsungan hidup (survival rate) mencapai 86% setelah tiga bulan pemantauan. Evaluasi pre-test dan post-test menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat sebesar 78% terkait konservasi mangrove. Selain itu, terbentuk kelompok masyarakat peduli mangrove (Pokmaswas) sebagai wujud keberlanjutan sosial kegiatan. Secara ekologis, mulai muncul biota asosiasi seperti ikan kecil dan kepiting bakau, menandakan pemulihan fungsi ekologis mangrove sebagai nursery ground. Kegiatan ini membuktikan bahwa kolaborasi antara perguruan tinggi, masyarakat, dan pemerintah daerah melalui pendekatan partisipatif efektif dalam mempercepat proses rehabilitasi pesisir sekaligus memperkuat pemberdayaan masyarakat lokal

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the morphometric anatomical wings of the fruit fly Bactrocera dorsalis Complex. The species used in this study consisted of 11 (eleven) species. The analysis technique of the wings of Bactrocera dorsalis Complex, i.e. the right wing of each individual was analyzed using Morphometric landmarks with 15 anatomical points. Digital images of wings are scaled in size and scale using Adobe Photoshop CS3 software. The results of anatomical point digitization are processed into MorphoJ software v. 1.06b. Digitization data of anatomical points of wing shape was collected using Generalized Procrustes Analysis (GPA).  The results of the Canonical Variate Analysis (CVA) showed that there was a grouping of each species. The grouping of Bactrocera dorsalis complex wing types is based on the similarity of the percentage of cumulative values of CVA1 and CVA2 tests. Groups B. carambolae, B. minuscula, B. occipitalis, B. papayae, B. floresiae, B. philippinennsis, Bactrocera sp. 23, Bactrocera sp. 25, and Bactrocera sp. 26 grouped because they have similarities in wing venation. The difference in wing venation is found in Bactrocera sp. 27 and B. sumbawaensis because they are far from the group B. carambolae, B. minuscula, B. occipitalis, B. papayae, B. floresiae, B. philippinennsis, Bactrocera sp. 23, Bactrocera sp. 25, and Bactrocera sp. 26.

Abstract

Indonesia is known as a rich country in herbs, which are utilized as a source of natural herbal medicine, including garlic. This research aims to achieve a comparative study of the bioactive compounds retained in several varieties of Sembalun garlic. The research was conducted at the Integrated Laboratory of Mataram State Islamic University and Laboratory of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Nahdlatul Wathan Mataram. Three varieties of Sembalun Garlic were used in this research, namely the Nunggal, Jamak and Sanggah varieties, which were extracted using 96% ethanol. The research results show bioactive compounds in flavonoids, saponins, steroids and phenolics in the three varieties of Sembalun garlic (Nunggal, Jamak, and Sanggah).
