Abstract

. Based on Law Number 17 of 2014 concerning the People's Consultative Assembly, the People's Representative Council, the Regional Representative Council and the Regional People's Representative Council and which has been passed down by the Regulation of the Bengkulu City Regional People's Representative Council, states that the DPRD consists of members of political parties participating in the General Election who elected based on the results of the General Election, and the DPRD is a regional people's representative institution whose position is as an element of regional government administration. In carrying out their activities, when employees have to work on things related to English, they always use applications or use web translators without knowing whether the translation results are correct or not. Through this KKN program, employees receive training so they are able to use applications and know about anything where Google could mistranslate.

Abstract

. Pekik Nyering Village is an area located in Pondok Kelapa District, Central Bengkulu Regency, where it is said that people who first entered this area heard screams that were very loud and could be heard everywhere, but the person who shouted was unknown and invisible. So that the mysterious incident experienced by our predecessors was used as the name of a region, namely the Pekik Nyering Region. According to information from several village elders, the origins of Pekik Nyering Village began in 1956 with the arrival of transmigration from Java as many as 230 families and their placement spread throughout Pekik Village. Nyaring, so that Pekik Nyering Village has 4 blocks because the population is spread across four areas and each area is led by a stakeholder. In this new area, Transmigration residents build their territory to organize their lives. It turns out that in their life journey they experience many obstacles both from within and from outside, such as disturbances in the form of animals, nature and the environment. The children in this village still have low English language skills, so based on the results of observations, they need to be trained. And the results of the Real Work Lecture activities in this village were able to improve children's English language skills even though they were not optimal due to time constraints.

Abstract

Kemajuan teknologi telah membuat begitu banyak perubahan dalam kehidupan manusia. Artificial Intelligence (AI) yang sudah menjadi sebuah trend dan bisa diakses oleh siapa saja dan dimana saja. SMAN 1 Kepahiang merupakan salah satu sekolah negeri yang berada di kabupaten Kepahiang. Penggunaan AI masih belum banyak digunakan oleh para siswa. Tujuan dari kegiatan Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberikan sosialisasi tentang pemanfaatan AI dalam meningkatkan bicara kepada bahasa inggris dengan kegiatan Drama. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah metode ceramah dan praktek. Berdasarkan hasil dari kegiatan, siswa merasa mendapatkan ilmu yang bisa dimanfaatkan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara dalam bahasa inggris.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has made various changes in all aspects of life, such as economy, social, politics, lifestyle and education. This can be seen from the government urging the public to limit their activities and enforce self-isolation so as to encourage increased access to technology. Technology has become a very important role and is needed in the current situation because the government urges to reduce social activities. Likewise in the field of education, with the Covid-19 pandemic, all learning processes at all education levels are conducted online. This is the basis for the findings of several previous studies related to the emergence of several new terms used by the government and socialized to the public related to pandemics. From those several previous studies, the researchers saw that there was no research related to the level of public understanding of new terms that appeared during the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, this study aims to determine the level of student understanding of new terms that emerged during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study used a survey method for students at University of Dehasen Bengkulu using a questionnaire. From the research result, it can be concluded that most students at University of Dehasen Bengkulu, specifically Physical Education Study Program do not know the new terms. This is because many of Physical Education students are in remote areas which are very affected by the weather and electricity, so accessing information on TV and the internet often faces obstacles.

Abstract

Cultural values are not only habits that exist within the scope of society, but also found in movies. In this study, the researcher aimed to find various categories of cultural value based  on Buya Hamka movie. Data collection and completion analysis using qualitative descriptive research. The data taken is also based on the cultural values spoken or performed by Buya Hamka. Researchers have found 45 Cultural Values of Human Relations with God, 36 Cultural Values of Human Relations with Others, 8 Cultural Values of Human Relations with Society, 12 Cultural Values of Human Relations with Self And researchers found the Implications of Cultural Values Found in Education Sector, namely 36 Islamic values, 8 national values, 24 moral and ethical values and 4 cultural values Then the most dominating cultural value in the film is the Cultural Value of Human Relations with God and the Implications of Cultural Values in Buya Hamka's Education Sector, found mostly Islamic values. The researcher hopes that this study can be significant data for the linguistic community and can add insight to readers about the cultural values spoken and performed by Buya Hamka in the movie Buya Hamka.

Abstract

This research discuss the dynamics of social class in the film House of Gucci (2021) using Karl Marx's theory and Kurt Lewin's theory of social change. This research aims to find out how social class is depicted in the film, especially the upper class (bourgeois) and lower class (proletariat), and how the characters experience social change. The method used is descriptive qualitative by analyzing several important scenes in the film. The results show that there are clear differences between social classes, both in terms of power and lifestyle. In addition, the characters in the film also experience a social change process shown through the unfreezing, changing, and refreezing stages. In this study, 11 scenes were found that represent social class dynamics, consisting of 7 scenes depicting the bourgeois class and 4 scenes depicting the proletarian class. Meanwhile, the analysis of social change shows that there are 3 scenes in the unfreezing stage, 7 scenes in the changing stage, and 1 scenes in the refreezing stage. This research is expected to help readers understand how films can reflect social issues that exist in real life.

Abstract

The directive forms of illocutionary act is a form of speech act that aims to influence the speech partner to take certain actions. This research aims to analyze the directive forms of illocutionary act contained in the transcript of Vladimir Putin’s Speech (2022). This research has 2 objectives: 1) To identify the directive forms of illocutionary act contained in the transcript of Vladimir Putin’s Speech (2022). 2) To find out the function of the directive forms of illocutionary act contained in the transcript of Vladimir Putin’s Speech (2022). This research used descriptive qualitative method and using the directive forms of illocutionary acts theory from Ibrahim (1993). The results obtained from this research found 16 the directive forms of illocutionary acts in Vladimir Putin's speech (2022) which were divided into 7 forms, namely 3 forms of asking, 3 forms of prohibiting, 3 forms of wanting, 3 forms of inviting, 2 forms of suggesting, 1 forms of requesting, and 1 forms of demanding. While the functions of the directive forms of illocutionary acts found are 7 forms which were divided into 2 functions, namely 4 competitive functions and 3 convivial functions.
