Abstract

The use of Javanese script in Javanese communication is increasingly experiencing an alarming degradation. Appropriate preservation strategies need to be implemented so that Javanese characters can be preserved and widely used again. The right effort is to carry out training in reading and writing Javanese script to the younger generation. The training activities are adapted to the cognitive level of the subject, namely learning while playing. This training was conducted at Sanggar Pelangi Surakarta with elementary school-age children as the subjects. The purpose of the training is to introduce and educate the younger generation to be able to read and write Javanese characters properly and correctly. The training was conducted with the help of ular tangga media which is recognized as accurate in optimizing the absorption of material for elementary school-age children. The training was carried out with the stages of preparation, delivery of material, playing ular tangga modified by including Javanese script elements, working on LKDP, and filling out questionnaires. The result was a significant increase in the trainees' understanding of how to read and write Javanese characters properly and correctly.

Abstract

This study analyses the language style in the lyrics of traditional Javanese children’s songs (tembang dolanan) and Japanese children’s songs (warabe uta) through contrastive analysis from an ethnostylistic perspective. This study aims to describe the forms of language style used and to reveal their similarities and differences based on their cultural backgrounds. The study used a qualitative method using content analysis by contrasting Javanese and Japanese children’s song lyrics. Data were collected through document analysis of song lyrics, supported by interviews with instructors from Japan and experts in the Javanese language. The data, validated through source triangulation and strengthened by Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), were analysed using James P. Spradley’s ethnographic stages, including domain, taxonomic, componential, and cultural theme analysis. The findings indicate that language style in both Javanese and Japanese children’s song lyrics is constructed through rhyme, repetition, lexical choices related to nature, animals, and plants, as well as the use of figurative language (metaphor, personification, hyperbole, and simile) and symbolism. These stylistic choices collectively support the construction of meaning and the transmission of educational values within their respective cultural contexts. Therefore, this study contributes to the development of contrastive linguistic analysis by demonstrating that such analysis can extend beyond structural comparison to integrate specific analytical perspectives, such as ethnostylistics. In addition, it offers insights into the exploration of stylistic language use in creative texts, particularly song lyrics, which may serve as alternative media for character education in children. Future research is recommended to expand the corpus by including a wider range of children’s songs across cultures and to examine their implementation in deeper learning contexts involving culturally based creative texts.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan guna meningkatkan keterampilan menulis aksara Jawa pada siswa kelas X Asisten Keperawatan SMK Bhakti Karya Karanganyar menggunakan model pembelajaran kumon dan media gambar yang berjumlah 15 siswa. Penelitian tindakan kelas (classroom action research) ini mengimplementasikan metode pendekatan kualitatif maupun kuantitatif. Data kualitatif bedasarkan hasil analisis dari wawancara guru kelas X mata pelajaran Bahasa Jawa, siswa, silabus, dan rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran. Data kuantitatif berdasarkan hasil analisis dari hasil tes, observasi guru dan siswa. Hasil data tes dijabarkan dengan melihat nilai rata-rata saat pratindakan, siklus I, siklus II, dan siklus III. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pada pratindakan, siswa mendapatkan nilai rata-rata 57 dengan persentase ketuntasan 13,34%. Pada siklus I menunjukkan adanya peningkatan dengan nilai rata-rata 71,2 dengan persentase ketuntasan 40,02%. Tindakan siklus II memperoleh nilai rata-rata 80,26 yang sudah memenuhi kriteria ketuntasan minimal, namun persentase 60,03% yang berarti belum memenuhi indikator kesuksesan penelitian. Penelitian dilanjutkan hingga siklus III dengan nilai rata-rata 87,8 dengan persentase ketuntasan 100%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, model pembelajaran kumon dan media gambar yang digunakan dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis pada siswa. Maka disarankan kepada guru untuk menggunakan dan memilih model dan media pembelajaran variatif seperti model pembelajaran kumon dan media gambar, serta memotivasi siswa untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis aksara Jawa pada siswa.

Abstract

This research aims to (1) find out the ubarampe in the Pancenan tradition of Dukuh Jaten, Sragen Regency (2) analyze the symbolic meaning in the ubarampe of the Pancenan tradition in Jaten Dukuh, Sragen Regency. The data used is photo documentation of Ubarampe while the research data source is the results of interviews. The data collection technique uses documentation about the Pancenan tradition of ubarampe. The analytical technique used by the Miles and Huberman interactive model is divided into four stages (1) The appropriate data analysis technique used for the descriptive type is through four activity flows, namely (1) collecting data, (2) data reduction, (3) presenting data, and (4) drawing conclusions or verification. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the research results (1) mentioned the form of ubarampe in the Jenang Sura tradition, (2) explained the symbolic meaning contained in the ubarampe of the Pancenan tradition.

Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan implementasi metode sosiodrama untuk melatih komunikasi remaja sesuai unggah-ungguh Bahasa Jawa. Metode yang digunakan adalah ekspositori, diskusi, praktik dan observasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan meliputi tahap pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penampilan data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan pada hari Senin, 19 Juni 2023. Bertempat di gedung pertemuan warga Kampung Gulon RT.01/ RW 19, Jebres, Surakarta dengan total peserta sebanyak 20 orang. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa masih banyak remaja yang belum terbiasa menggunakan bahasa Jawa sesuai unggah-ungguh dalam berkomunikasi sehari-hari. Sebagian peserta masih merasa malu-malu ketika diajak berkomunikasi menggunakan bahasa Jawa. Kemudian kami mengajak peserta melakukan praktik menggunakan metode sosiodrama. Peserta diajak berinteraksi secara berkelompok dengan cara memainkan peran dengan menggunakan dialog bahasa Jawa. Melalui metode sosiodrama, mereka mampu mempraktikkan percakapan berbahasa Jawa sesuai unggah-ungguh dengan baik dan benar berdasarkan dengan lawan tutur.

Abstract

AbstrackThis research aims to describe the feasibility of the contents of the Javanese Wursita Basa textbook for class IX SMP/SMPLB/MTs published by CV. Friends This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Data analysis techniques use interactive analysis, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Content feasibility data and language feasibility are analyzed with instruments compiled based on relevant theories and information and assessments from several sources. Data validity test using researcher and theory triangulation. In triangulation, researchers involved other researchers, namely Dewinta Enha Putri (DEP). Content eligibility is reviewed from the appropriateness of the material, accuracy of the material, and the content of the learning material, while language eligibility is reviewed from the appropriateness of the language with the level of development of the students, communicative, as well as the sequence and unity of ideas. From the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the feasibility of the content of the Wursita Basa Javanese textbook obtained a percentage of 79.6% from the average score of 25.5 and a maximum score of 32Keywords: textbook, contents feasibility, curriculum of 2013

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan keaktifan belajar membaca teks naratif berhuruf jawa dengan metode Tutor Sebaya (peer tutoring) pada peserta didik kelas VIII G SMP Negeri 4 Sragen Kabupaten Sragen Semester Genap Tahun Pelajaran 2022/ 2023. Adapun metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah MetodeTutor Sebaya (peer tutoring). Metode Tutor Sebaya (peer tutoring) memiliki kelebihan yaitu: menghilangkan ketakutan yang sering disebabkan oleh perbedaan umur, status antara peserta didik dan guru, antar peserta didik lebih mudah bekerja sama dan komunikasi, lebih mungkin terjadi pembelajaran personal antara teman dengan teman, tutor teman lebih sabar terhadap teman yang lamban dalam belajar, lebih efektif karena peserta didik yang lemah akan dibantu tepat pada kekurangannya, tumbuhnya rasa toleransi serta saling membantu dan mendukung dalam memecahkan masalah. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisi deskriptif komparatif, yaitu membandingkan nilai tes pada keadaan awal sebelum tindakan (PraSiklus), tes setelah Siklus 1 dan nilai tes setelah Siklus 2. Hasil Penelitian Tindakan Kelas ini yaitu hasil rerata skor keaktifan siswa meningkat dari 53,13% pada kondisi awal menjadi 74,38% pada Siklus I, dan 82,5% pada Siklus II, sehingga terjadi peningkatan 29,37. Penerapan metode Tutor Sebaya (peer tutoring) dapat meningkatkan keaktifan belajar membaca teks naratif berhuruf jawa pada siswa kelas VIII G SMP Negeri 4 Sragen, Kabupaten Sragen Semester Genap Tahun Pelajaran 2022/ 2023.

Abstract

This study examines how hierarchical values are expressed and maintained through language in both Javanese and Japanese societies. Its goal is to explore the role of language in articulating and reinforcing social stratification in two different cultural settings. Using a comparative ethnographic approach, the study examines how these linguistic systems function within their respective socio-cultural contexts. The results show that both languages employ language codes heavily influenced by factors such as age, social status, and proximity between individuals. This linguistic practice not only functions as a marker of politeness but also as a tool to manage power dynamics and uphold traditional norms. The discussion highlights how language choices serve as mechanisms for asserting social standing and shaping identities within hierarchical structures. In conclusion, this article demonstrates that understanding language practices provides valuable information about cultural concepts, emphasizing respect and obedience within social hierarchies. It also advocates for further cross-cultural research to deepen the understanding of how language reflects and influences social hierarchies.

Abstract

The Anggara Kasih tradition ceremony is one of the local cultures which still carried out today because there are local wisdom values in it. This study aims to explain the local wisdom values that exist in the Anggara Kasih Patirtan Cabean Kunti tradition and its relevance as Javanese teaching material in junior high school on the basic competencies of analyzing descriptive texts about regional traditional ceremonies. The data obtained in this research is qualitative data in the form of interviews. The sampling technique used in this research is snowball sampling. Data collection was done with three techniques, namely observation, interview, and document analysis. The technique used for validity testing is triangulation of data sources. The data analysis technique used the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results of the research that have been conducted can be concluded as follows: (1) the local wisdom values contained in the Anggara Kasih tradition are: religious values, social values, cultural values, and environmental protection values; (2) the Anggara Kasih tradition carried out in Cabean Kunti village has relevance as teaching material in junior high school because it has four aspects, including: divine aspects, social aspects, cognitive aspects, and skills aspects. The results of this study are expected to be a reference for teachers to choose teaching materials about traditions that exist in their own area and be able to motivate students to study hard because they know firsthand the implementation of these traditions.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to explain the implementation of the drill and practice method to train students' communication in Javanese on social media. The method used is drill and practice. The results of the service show that there are students who do not dare to use Javanese appropriately when communicating in the real world and the virtual world. Some students feel hesitant when asking or answering using Javanese. The service team then interacted with the students to practice using the drill and practice method. Students are invited to interact in groups by practicing orally and in writing using simple Javanese words. Through the drill and practice method, they are able to practice Javanese conversation and writing according to uploads well and correctly based on the person they are communicating with. Students are able to write Javanese sentences in the form of congratulations, greetings, condolences, thank you which are often used on their social media.
